A NOTE FROM COMMISSIONER STARKEY I want to wish everyone a very safe and memorable Holiday Season. Below is an abbreviated newsletter. And guess what? Today I received some news that we have finally caught up with the pothole requests! This is great news. May your new year wishes come true! Kathryn Starkey HOMETOWN HIGHLIGHTS [RAW CHARGE] The Lightning honored Dan Campbell as the 17th Lightning Community Hero of the year during the first period of tonight's game. Campbell, who received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program, will donate the money to Metropolitan Ministries Pasco. Campbell lives a life of service dedicated to serving those in need and ending homelessness in Pasco County. His inspiration was ignited while serving at a Church camp and a young girl wearing her father's boxers asked if she could bring her lunch home to
3 share with her family. From that day forward, Campbell has been on a mission to serve the needs of those living in poverty. He has developed partnerships to provide food, utility assistance, clothing, adult education, and after school care to those in need residing in Pasco County. His efforts have impacted over 30,000 families in need and attracted over 10,000 volunteers to help carry out his mission. The Lightning Community Hero has generated community support to open a new commercial kitchen that would serve 2,000 meals daily to those in need of assistance. He has also helped raise $ 1.6 million in county and state funds to build emergency shelter housing. From , Campbell served as President of the Coalition for the Homelessness in Pasco and organized the Ten-Year plan to End Homelessness in Pasco. Campbell's choice for donation, Metropolitan Ministries, is a faith-based and community supported non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides care services for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless with operations in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, and Pasco counties.

5 NEW TO PASCO [Suncoast news] Pasco County officials joined representatives from MPH Hotels and Berkshire Hathaway Commercial Real Estate to launch the development. Among speakers were Dewey Mitchell, broker-owner of Berkshire Hathaway Commercial Real Estate; Commissioner Kathryn Starkey; and Dan Sullivan, executive director of Trinity-Odessa Chamber of Commerce. Michael Holtz represented MPH Hotels. Among those grabbing shovels were John Hagen, president and CEO of Pasco Economic Development Council; Commissioner Jack Mariano; Commissioner Mike Wells Jr.; Richard Gehring, Pasco s planning and development administrator; Pasco Clerk of Court Paula O Neil; and Wells Fargo financial adviser Michael Cox. The growth of the area, anchored by Medical Center of Trinity, has created great demand for nearby hotel space, MPH Hotels executives explained in a press release. MPH, an experienced hotel operator out of St. Petersburg, has identified Trinity as an up-and-coming community that is primed for its first hotel. The 86-room hotel represents the next evolution of the Holiday Inn Express, officials said. Its design is cost-neutral and focuses more on flexible space and smoother operating efficiencies. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Property Group brokered both the sale and purchase of the property. Mitchell said the deal has been five years in the making. Officials worked closely with Synovus Bank to make the project possible.
