1 Big Creek Elementary Important Dates WILDCAT WEEKLY December 7, 2012 Christmas Break 12/21-1/4 Do you ever feel like you want to do something special for Big Creek? Do you have a business or service that might be a great present for someone? We are asking YOU to please consider making a donation toward a holiday staff raffle and add some fun and show some love for Big Creek s staff! During our last school day before the holiday break, as well at our staff holiday party, we would love to share any donated items, such as gift cards, to raffle off during some fun activites to our staff! We will be thanking those families who sponsor a prize with a huge thank you in the WILDCAT WEEKLY as well as with our 2012 Staff Holiday Card which will be sent to your home! This is completely voluntary! No donation or item is too small! Thank you in advance for considering this special donation opportunity! We are so excited to share your gift and spread some heartfelt appreciation and holiday cheer among the best staff in the state! (Please send your donations to Lisa Biedermann or Karen Coleman in our front office by December 10 th!)

2 Mrs. Black s Wonderful Wildcats! Congratulations! Vedant Panchal Andrew Crawford Angelina Valera Miles Proffitt Pranav Potluri Leah Shafer Miguel Hernandez Bonnie Harkins Brigitte Rivard Jack Madden Courson Upchurch Zach Burchfield Tis the season for our annual Mitten Tree. The Mitten Tree is located inside the front door. Please send in new mittens, gloves or knit caps. Thank you! Next Week s Menu Monday Chicken Nuggets w/ WG Roll or Country Steak w/ rice & gravy Tuesday Chicken Tacos or Hamburger on WG bun Wednesday Quesadilla Pizza or WG Pepperoni Calzone Thursday Chicken Tender strips or Crispy Fish Nuggets Friday Beef Hot Dog on WG bun or Rib BBQ For the 2 nd year Big Creek Elementary participated in a holiday community service project with one of our Partners in Education, Northside Hospital. This altruistic project will be hosted by our own 5 th grade students for the second year! The total money earned for Northside s Cancer Branch is $903.91! The winning class, Ms. Ferrer s class, raised the most money for the school and will get to choose a pizza or cookie party as their reward. Thanks to all the families for their support in just a little over a week, our students are making a big impact this holiday season (through money donations as well as the meal tray decorated cards).

3 The Big Creek Chorus performed at The Villas at Canterfield (assisted living) on November 30 th. Big Creek s Relay for Life team is hosting a Pajama Day fundraiser on December 14, Students are allowed to wear their pajamas to school (no slippers) to help support this cause. Donations are optional yet appreciated. Thanks for helping us help save lives. Volunteers are needed at Big Creek Elementary! Volunteering with Girls on the Run is a life-changing experience. You share your time and energy, and help instill a positive self-image in girls grades 3rd-5th. Our volunteers are typically parents, coaches, runners, community volunteers, and teachers. You do not have to be a runner to be a Girls on the Run volunteer. The main requirement is enthusiasm and a desire to further the GOTR mission! Contact us for more information at info@gotrforsyth.org or by calling

We would like to put some dates in front of you, so that they can make it to your calendars before the busyness of the new year is upon us. It s difficult to believe that the holidays are almost upon us. Seeing the green grass and warm temperatures fooled us into believing that summer was going to stay. But yesterday changed that thinking!!
