All money earned goes towards your charity earnings and you might be crowned Mr. Jazz. From bugs and hisses to all my witches, the ghoul times will roll and the boo-tiful costumes are sure to give us all a good fright (or treat for those creepy characters out there!). Let the best costumes stand out as we head into Week 4. WEATHER SYNOPSIS: An area of high pressure over the Southeast slides off the Atlantic coast. Meanwhile, low pressure in the Mississippi River Valley will track through the Ohio Valley and into New England by Thursday night. High pressure builds in from the Great Plains and stretches into the Southeast. GAMEDAY FORECAST: We survived an unseasonably muggy mid-october evening for Week 3 and were spared from a few showers that brought some muchneeded precipitation to metro New Orleans during the overnight hours. Expect similar conditions this week, with onshore winds off the Gulf. Mostly sunny skies around sunrise will become partly cloudy by the afternoon. A weak, fastmoving cold front will pass through the Mississippi River Valley and may tap into some of the moisture along the easterly flow. A slight chance of showers is possible in the early afternoon, but I expect most areas to remain dry throughout the day. Highs will climb into the low to mid 80s with east winds 5-10mph. By first pitch, skies will become mostly clear with temperatures falling into the upper 70s. East winds will be around 5mph. PAIGE 6

TIP & RULE OF THE WEEK TIP We keep bags of mud around. If you find a hole in the field, please tell Sean or the field general where it is and we will cover it up if possible. RULE The play stops when the ball is possessed by the pitcher in the 12 foot radius around the pitcher s mound. Any runner who was already in forward motion can continue running to the base they were heading to. The home umpires are paid because of their knowledge of the rules and their ability to diffuse a heated situation. Each team supplies a 1st or 3rd base ump on in the game slot they are not playing in. I will publish a rule of the week in this newsletter and will be happy to answer any questions or discuss any disputes you have at the fields, at the bar, or by sgaubert@kickball.com Rules to live by: If you can only remember a few rules, make sure it is these: NO GLASS on the fields No driving on the fields. Never park past the wooden poles. Don t drink and Drive Always supply a 1st/3rd base ref for the game directly before or after yours. Pick up your trash All WAKA rules can be found on PAIGE 7

The keg at the DJ booth is for other antics. Learn this, live this. Your Friendly Flip-Cup Board Need flip cup help? Got a crazy question or simply need a hug. These wonderful people are here to help. Meagan standings Robbie rules»» One match is 5 against 5 with the first team to win three rounds is the winner»» Only the first person on each team toast when the ref says so.»» After you toast, your cup must touch the table, then you drink the sip of liquid, and finally flip the cup.»» In round 2, the 2nd person starts and the 1st person will actually go last. Then in the third round, the third person starts and so on.»» When the cup lands successfully, the next teammate can go.»» Do not touch your cup until your teammate s cup has landed.»» The cup must contain a small amount of liquid.»» If the ref calls a tie we go to jungle rules All 10 people at the table flip at the same time and the last team to finish loses the round.»» When flipping the cup, one hand must strike the cup from underneath and that same hand can t touch the side of the cup.»» If you flip out of turn, your team loses just that round. The definition of flipping out of turn is actually flipping the cup before your teammate in front of you completes their turn. Picking up the cup prematurely is allowed, but you must put it back down to begin your attempt.»» You may use the 2nd hand to hold the cup in place, but you cannot use it to guide the flip. The 2nd hand must stay down at the table.»» Anyone caught cheating will face a 2 second penalty the next round. If it is the final round, it will be the judge s discretion for a reset.»» Water is ok to drink and it is encouraged. Need a ride? This season Jazz will be raising funds for a fantastic local charity Breakthrough New Orleans. On average, Breakthrough New Orleans provides academic assistance to around 110 middle school students annually. Also, these students can have access to SAT/ACT prep and college search resources once they enter high school. Mission: The mission of Breakthrough New Orleans is to prepare high potential middle school students, with limited resources, for academically rigorous educational experiences in high school and college while inspiring and training high school and college students to enter the field of education and become advocates for educational equity. 14 Hey guys, Kickin Ain t Easy here...and this is our first newsletter submission! We re a new team this year which you can clearly tell by the standings. (This newsletter is extra long to make up for the failure to submit the past three weeks.)
