TEASER FADE IN: OVER BLACK: Sirens wail loudly as people scream bloody murder. GROWLS come over, as blood gushes loudly. It is clear there is something wrong. JUMP CUT TO: A static picture comes up. NEWS REPORTS show the city of Chicago being over run by MEN and WOMEN, running at fast speed, covered in blood and guts. Over these scenes is the voice of ANCHOR WOMAN, HELEN. HELEN (V.O.) The CDC is calling it, hell on earth. A new disease, that is being called Lazarus, A virus that kills you and then resurrects you. You then turn into a creature from fiction. A zombie. (beat) It first infected a civilian three months ago. But after a breach in security, the virus was released into the public. They roar loudly, their eyes blood shot. The camera shakes and then falls to the ground. The CAMERA MAN, falls in front of it, a giant BITE take out of his cheek. He spasmus. CUT TO: Another news Report comes up. On it this time, a group of survivors banging on a church door. Screaming and yelling to be let in. HELEN (V.O.) Many are now claiming for salvation as Church doors have now been shut to keep in those who have not been infected. And keep out those who have. Suddenly the church doors break open, people begin running in. The picture goes to static --

2. -- When the picture comes back, the church is in flames. More infected running around and killing those who remain. CUT TO: Another news report comes up again. This time, showing people being ushered into a camp with chain linked fences. Everyone is being checked for bites. A man is then pulled off to the side, a young girl being held back as she screams for her father. Suddenly, he s SHOT right into the head. Falling dead to the pavement as his daughter screams. The screams echo loudly. HELEN (V.O.) The Military has started to move in, creating Infected Free Zones. But reports from inside the city limits say that due to low supplies and ammo... these zones will fall. Gun fire then erupts, people fall down to the ground. Dead. INT. NEWS STATION - NIGHT Sitting in front of a desk, the Anchor Woman, Helen. Her outfit is disheveled. Her eyes showing her exhaustion. She looks up towards the camera. HELEN Are we on? PRODUCER (O.S.) Only in a few places. Helen sighs and then straightens herself out. HELEN (exhausted) We don t know who we are reaching. We have received word that the entire country has been placed into Marshall Law. Borders to Mexico and Canada have been sealed off. All air travel, has been grounded. (beat) The death toll has said to have risen to the tens of thousands. We wish we could give you all the answers but --

3. She takes a breath, looking off to a few people off screen. Her eyes then dart down to the papers on her desk. She then picks them up, ripping them apart. HELEN (CONT D) We don t have time for this, bullshit. It doesn t matter anymore. Helen --! PRODUCER HELEN -- It doesn t matter! (beat) The world s gone to shit. She then looks directly into the camera. HELEN (CONT D) I suggest all of you get shelter. Stock up on food, put up walls. Be with your family. And make amends to your God. (beat) If anyone is listening to this, may god save you. And whatever you do? (beat) Survive. The static then comes over the screen. Helen screams loudly as shots of an Infected coming in, biting her neck and spewing blood all over the camera. Her screams and others echo. END OF TEASER BLACKOUT. OPENING CREDITS.

4. ACT ONE FADE IN: EXT. CAMP SITE, MAIN AREA - SUNRISE The sun comes up over the trees as BLACKBIRD SONG by Lee DeWyze plays in the BG. We come up on a camp, a bunch of tents set up like a small community. A few small areas are set up, used mainly for cooking, food storage, and just sitting around. White smoke rises from the fires around camp. We come up upon a blue tent -- INT. CAMP SITE, S TENT - CONTINUOUS Laying on top of a sleeping bag, is a pale blonde woman. She gives off that I might look weak, but I will kick your ass look. She slowly wakes up and is revealed to look exhausted, but ready for what s to come. This is EVANS. Julie stands up and takes off her shirt from her sleep, putting on another one. She shuffles through some more clothes, ending up putting on a hoodie. Her leather jacket going over it. She pulls her boots on. Once she is dressed, she grabs a note book, grabbing a pen and begins to write a quick note. She lays it on her sleeping bag and then walks out of the tent. EXT. CAMP SITE, MAIN AREA - CONTINUOUS Julie comes out of her tent and starts walking towards the center of the camp. Other survivors slowly emerging from their tents and greeting the day. Men walk past the tents, guns slinged over their shoulders. Julie just nods at them and they nod back at her. A few kids come running by, playing with a ball. Julie walks over towards a tall, muscular rugged man. His eyes showing exhaustion but his body and attire, show him ready for war. This is FORD. You ready? As I ll ever be.

5. Ryder nods and starts to walk with Julie. JUMP CUT TO: Ryder begins loading up his travel bag, stuffing in cans of food, extra ammo and any other kind of supplies they could use. He grabs a few pistols and also an AK-47. As for Julie, she relies on packing the medical supplies. She stuffs in bandages and anything she can get her hands on from the first aid kit. Julie smiles at Ryder as he grabs her bag for her and throws it into the back of a truck. Julie looks around, looking for someone but she doesn t see them. She then climbs into the truck -- EXT. ABANDONED ROADS - DAY The truck ZOOMS down the roads. The leaves trailing in the wind behind them. SLOWLY trailing now, is ZOMBIES. A small group of them as they groan and growl. INT. PICK UP TRUCK, FRONT SEAT - CONTINUOUS Julie sits in the passenger side as Ryder drives. She looks out and window, her head resting against the window. Off to the side, a building burns. The smoke black, signaling that the fire is still burning. Ryder glances over at Julie, sighing to himself as he speeds up a bit. EXT. BOSTON, TOBIN BRIDGE - DAY The pick up truck drives on the empty side of the road, on the other, a bunch of trucks and cars piled up as they try to get out of the city. EXT. BOSTON, CITY STREETS - DAY The pick up truck is now parked. Julie and Ryder stand behind it, unloading their gear. Ryder goes to hand Julie a gun, but she doesn t take it. Julie, you have to use a gun on the one of these days.

6. I m perfectly fine with my a machete anyway. Julie reaches over, the SLICE of the metal going across the bed of the truck as she stuffs it into her bag. I would feel better if you at least has a pistol. Ryder holds up the pistol, his eyes staring down Julie. She then sighs and takes it. She makes sure to check the safety. Ryder then shuts the bed of the truck and nods at Julie. (CONT D) Let s head out. He slings the AK-47 across his back and starts to walk. Julie looks behind her, double checking and make sure nothing else is following them. They begin walking past shops with SMASHED windows, some of them burned up. Julie sighs as she notices a couple, rotting away. Their heads blown open, possibly by a shot gun. She then looks at the woman. She was PREGNANT. INT. PHARMACY, FRONT AREA - DAY Ryder knocks a shelf over, pushing it out of his way as he walks towards the back. Julie begins shuffling through the messes on the floor, picking up pill bottles and whatever else she can get her hand on. Ryder then walks over, holding two chocolate bars in front of Julie. She smiles and takes one, stuffing them into her bag. EXT. BOSTON, STREETS - CONTINUOUS Julie and Ryder EXIT from the building. Julie looks down the road, noticing a bunch of abandoned cars. She s about to walk slowly towards them when Inside one car, A ZOMBIE lifts their head, lowly growling. Julie then looks back towards Ryder and follows him. FLASH CUT TO:

7. EXT. BOSTON, STREETS - DAY (FLASHBACK) The streets are completely covered in cars and people honking horns and struggling to get out of the city. This is the day of the Outbreak. INT. S CAR - CONTINUOUS Julie honks at her horn, hoping that traffic would let up. Come on, god damn it! She then leans over, grabbing her phone. She clicks on it as it dials. Suddenly, dial tone. She then throws her phone down onto the seat. She sits back in the seat. But then she shoots up. A horde of people coming running away. She run past her car, a man FLYING into her windshield, SMASHING it. Julie screams loudly. She then gets out -- EXT. BOSTON, STREETS - CONTINUOUS -- Julie looks around, people running past her and pushing her to the side as they try to get to safety. She then grabs a SHORT MAN. Why is everyone running?! SHORT MAN They re coming! THEY RE COMING! He screams out and releases himself from Julie s grip. Julie then looks past him and sees, coming towards her in full force. A horde of ZOMBIES. Julie stumbles back and then begins running. They slowly walk towards her, a few of them a bit faster than the others. People are being taken down left and right, falling to the ground as they have now become food. FLASH CUT TO: EXT. BOSTON, STREETS - DAY (PRESENT DAY) Julie comes out from another store, Ryder following out behind her. He glances up and down the street, still nothing coming their way.

8. I can t believe this place has been cleared out. We haven t seen anyone besides our own people six months. You know we re not the only survivors right? There are bound to be people still living in the city. If there are, then where are the camps? The military set ups? The Government said they had set up Safe Zones. You actually believed that? It might have been the case then, but we haven t been back into the city in months. If there were any form of survivors, they might as well be hiding in the apartment buildings or something. Ryder sighs and kicks a can as they walk down the street. I just honestly thought there would be more survivors then just ours. Ryder reaches into his bag and pulls out some water. He drinks only a sip before handing it to Julie. We won t make it back to the camp before dark. What makes you so sure of that? The sun should be setting soon, and both you and I know that at night, it s not really a good time. Ryder sighed and looked at her. Do you have another place we can go then?

9. Julie nods and looks off down the street. Just follow me. She then begins walking ahead of Ryder and he follows after her. As they walk away, a small group of Zombies follow behind them, growling lowly as they see movement. FLASH CUT TO: EXT. BOSTON, STREETS - DAY (FLASHBACK) The streets are now in chaos. Everyone runs around, panicking and screaming. Julie runs towards a building. INT. APARTMENT BUILDING - CONTINUOUS Julie runs past people, screaming and running. Low growls can be heard from outside and down the hall. (screaming) CAIT! Julie gets to a door and opens it -- INT. APARTMENT BUILDING, EVAN S APARTMENT Julie bursts in, to find a small blonde pale girl, curled up in a ball by the TV. She stands up, running to Julie. This is her younger sister, CAITLYN EVANS. CAITLYN Oh my god! Julie! What the hell is happening!? I ll explain everything once we get out of the city! CAITLYN It s impossible! The Tobin Bridge is blocked off! Then we have to get to North Station. (MORE)

10. (CONT'D) At least from there we can get into the country and as far away from the city as possible. (beat) Go pack a bag. Bring only what you need! Okay?! Caitlyn nods, tears beginning to fall from her face as she runs off towards to her room. Julie runs towards the kitchen. She grabs a box and begins grabbing as much food as she can. Stuffing it tightly together. Dumping out her purse, everything inside falling to the floor. She grabs anything she can. Caitlyn comes running out, bags packed. More screams erupt from outside of the door, Caitlyn jumps, more tears falling. (CONT D) We gotta get out of here! Julie nods and finishes grabbing what she can. They run out the door. Not looking back. CAITLYN (O.S.) Julie, wait! Caitlyn runs back in, grabbing a picture frame. She stuffs it into her bag and runs out, shutting the door behind her. TIMELAPSE. Time begins to pass, days turning to night. Rain falling on the windows. Suddenly it s night. INT. APARTMENT BUILDING, EVAN S APARTMENT - NIGHT The door is kicked open, standing behind it is Ryder and Julie. She sighs looking at the familiar sight. Looks like no one s been here in here. Why did you bring us here? I thought the one thing you didn t want to dwell on was the past? Sometimes you just have too.

11. Julie sets down her bag, walking over to the curtains and shutting them. (CONT D) There should be some candles under the sink. Ryder sighs, walking into the kitchen. He comes back with two candles. All we got. Better then nothing I guess. He reaches into his back pocket, striking the lighter and lighting the candle. I ll take first watch. Make sure no Zombies come our way. We barricaded the front door into the building and if there were any zombies out there, we would be dead by now. (beat) Just come sit down and breathe. I don t remember the last time you actually sat down and had a meal. I don t remember the last time either. Mainly my dinners are composed of a spoon and a tin can. Yeah, but it s better than starving right? Ryder reaches into his bag, pulling out two cans of food. Both of the cans blank, labels ripped off of them. Julie sits down, fishing into her bag for a can opener. She hands it to him and he begins to open the cans. A beat. It s a bit weird being back here. So then why did you suggest we come back here then?

12. Ryder nods. You know when you re a kid? And your parents tell you that home is always safe? (CONT D) Well, I just guess through all of it. Home would be safe. (beat) I just had a stupid hope that this place would be safe. (beat) It s stupid, just forget it. She reaches over to grab a can and spoon. Ryder watches her as she begins eating in silence. He then sighs sets his food down. I don t think it s stupid. You had hope in this stupid world. A world run over by the dead? It kinda sucks to have hope. She takes a breath and leans back against the wall. (CONT D) I know we can t go back. But part of me really wants to be able to come home and just live. And not wake up every morning like this could be the last day we live as us. And then come back as a walking corpse. It s the world we live in now... guess we just have to deal with it. Ryder smiles and nods a bit as he eats some more. He then looks up at Julie as he lays back against the couch. I would kill for a drink right now. Julie then thinks for a minute, a thought popping into her head.

13. Luckily, this was built during prohibition. What are you talking about? How do you think I hid my vodka from my teenage sister? She then gets up, setting her can down. She begins to feel around a wall. What are you doing? If I remember well enough? There should be --! Julie opens a part of the wall and reaches in, pulling out a bottle of whiskey. It s dusty and old. And how do you have that? My Dad said he was going to save it for when Caitlyn got married. Why not save it for you? I mean, you are the oldest. I always told him I never wanted to settle down. And I also didn t want to leave him with a very expensive bill. Julie reaches into her pocket, pulling out a knife and pulling out the cork. She smiles and sits down, taking a long sip. (CONT D) (sighing) Ahh, that hits the spot. She smiles and hands the bottle to Ryder. He takes a sip and looks at her. She laughs. The two sit there in awkward silence for a bit.

14. (CONT D) Who would ve thought it would come to this huh? You and me. Squatting in my apartment while Zombies roam around outside? It wasn t the idea for us but it ll do. He takes another sip, handing it over to Julie. She takes it and sips again. She then looks up at him. You know, I never told you how --. All of a sudden, there is a CRASH and a GUN SHOT. Julie and Ryder jump up, instantly reaching over for their guns. (CONT D) (whispering) Someone s in here. (whispering) We can t go out there we don t know what it is. BANG. GROWL. BANG. The door rattles as Zombies are now on the other side. (CONT D) (whispering) Zombies. How the hell did they get past the barricade. Well, the problem is that they are in here now. Ryder slowly gets up. A scream comes out from the hallway. The Zombies continue to growl. (CONT D) There are survivors in here. Maybe we can --! -- Julie, we can t just --! -- We have to help them!

15. She stares him down for a bit and then walks towards the door, slowly. Ryder follows and they stand at the ready. One... Two... Three.. (CONT D) Just as the door opens -- BLACKOUT. END OF ACT ONE

16. ACT TWO FADE IN: EXT. BOSTON, STREETS - DAY (FLASHBACK) Julie and Caitlyn run out of the aparment and into the chaos. A MAN runs into Caitlyn knocking her to the ground. Julie runs over, pushing the man off of her. Get the fuck out of the way! The man runs away, screaming in terror. Julie helps Caitlyn up and dusts her off. (CONT D) Are you okay?! CAITLYN Julie, I m fine! (yelling) Are you okay?! CAITLYN I told you, I m fine! Stick with me, okay?! We gotta get out of here! The two girls run down the road. Off in the distance, a HOMELESS MAN saunters slightly over towards a crowd of people. FOCUS: On his teeth. They are bright yellow, disgusting and dripping with salvia. He begins to growl slightly, his left leg dragging behind him. We pan down towards his arm, on it, a GIANT BITE, oozing blood. Then on his eyes, blood shot red. The iris pulsing slightly as he focuses in on his prey. He then CHARGES after the crowd. Back on Julie and Caitlyn as they run down the street. Behind them, police begin to fire at a crowd, KILLING people. The girls continue to run, dodging anything to run into.

17. Suddenly, a CLEAN CUT ZOMBIE comes out, grabbing Caitlyn and pulling her back. Caitlyn SCREAMS, Julie running back and KICKING at the Zombie.! CAITLYN Caitlyn continues to scream as a a gun shot is heard. Clean Cut Zombie falls to the ground, officially DEAD. Julie pulls Caitlyn in close, hugging her tightly. Caitlyn cries into Julie s chest as Julie looks off into the distance. And standing there, is Ryder, gun pointed high. Julie s eyes widen as he looks at her. FLASH CUT TO: INT. APARTMENT BUILDING, EVAN S APARTMENT - NIGHT An OLD ZOMBIE falls to the ground, as Julie stabs it in the head. She sighs and looks up at Ryder. We need to check it out. Are you insane? If we missed this one, how many more do you think we missed? And there was a gun shot. There is someone else in here. I just think it s a stupid idea. You said it yourself from the start Check every corner, we don t know what s around it You know I m an idiot! Ryder sighs and grabs his gun, cocking it. You with me? Til the end.

18. Til the very end. The two then smile at each other and then get to business, heading out into the hall. -- INT. APARTMENT BUILDING, HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS -- The windows are boarded up, doors broken down. Lights flicker a bit as Julie and Ryder walk down the hall. Guns pointed high and ready. (whispering) You think there s any more Zombies in here? It looks like there was. Julie looks down, seeing a few bodies laying there. Julie shakes her head and continues walking. Ryder following slowly behind. (CONT D) You don t think that I don t want to think about it. There is a CLATTER and they point their guns towards the sound, looking at it as they inch their way closer towards it. Suddenly from around the corner, a Large Man comes running by, his neck covered in blood. This is PAUL. He notices Julie and looks at her. From the wall behind him, a PALE ZOMBIE comes growling out. He takes the gun, shooting it right in the head. The Zombie falls to the ground, dead. Julie s eyes widen as Ryder holds his gun high. PAUL Oh my god, you re alive. Paul? Julie is about to walk over to him, but he falls back against the wall, putting his hands up.

19. Don t --! PAUL What s wrong? Paul takes a few breaths and then pulls his shirt down a little bit, revealing his BITE on his neck. Ryder lifts his gun. But Julie pushes it away. What the hell are you doing?! We re not killing him! He s been bit! If you been bit? You turn. Julie rolls her eyes and turns back to Paul, slowly walking over to him. He shakes a bit, out of breath and his forehead covered in sweat. PAUL I already have the fever. That doesn t always mean you ll turn. PAUL (panting) I ve seen it. My wife, Francine? She turned. What about your daughter? She has to be --? PAUL The military took her... I haven t seen her since this all started. I don t even know if she s still alive. Julie s face turns into sympathy as he falls down the wall, leaning against it as he sits on the floor. PAUL (CONT D) You have to end it. No! We re not doing that.

20. PAUL You have to kill me. I m not --! (beat; calm) I m not killing you. Paul leans his head down, putting his hand on hers. PAUL Just end it, Julie. Julie shakes her head, taking his hand. PAUL (CONT D) I m an old man. I know my time is done here. God wants me to come home. I need to see my wife again. He reaches over into his pocket, pulling out a gun. PAUL (CONT D) There is one more bullet in the chamber. The one thing I ask of you? Don t let me become one of those. Julie sighs and then takes the gun, her hand shaking a bit as she looks at him. Julie then lowers it and he notices. He nods slowly. PAUL (CONT D) Then while we wait.. (beat) Tell me... did your sister? Did she make it? Julie looks up, sighing a bit when suddenly -- FLASH CUT TO: EXT. BOSTON, STREETS - DAY (FLASHBACK) Julie, Caitlyn and Ryder run down the chaos. Ryder in full uniform, hand on his gun. He pushes past people as they get closer to the train station. Why aren t you with the other cops?!

21. I don t really think that matters. The world s gone to shit. Caitlyn looks around. Over to the side, behind a fence. A group of Zombies stand behind a fence, growling and banging at the chain link fence. Ryder pushes someone out of the way, pulling Julie and Caitlyn with him. (CONT D) I m getting you both to North Station. You ll take the Purple line to Ipswich and from there, you ll get out into the fields, set up camp. What about you? I m not going. Ry --! -- Julie, I m trying to save you. I need to make sure that everyone else in the city gets out safe! Your safety matters too! Ryder sighs and reaches into his second holster, pulling out a pistol. Take it. What? Take it. You re going to need it. I m not taking that. I don t even know how to fire one! Then how do you expect to survive?!

22. Ryder sighs and looks off to the side, seeing a small group of ZOMBIES slowly walking over towards them. INSERT: On the Zombies as they growl, blood dripping from their mouths. Slowly their speed picks up. (CONT D) (yelling) We have to go! NOW! The zombies then charge, running at full speed. Julie grabs Caitlyn, dragging her off as Ryder fires his gun mindlessly off screen. FLASH CUT TO: INT. APARTMENT BUILDING, HALLWAY - SUNRISE Paul breathes heavily. Julie sits next to him, holding his hand. Ryder paces back and forth, gun at the ready. Suddenly, Paul STOPS breathing. He s dead. Julie looks up, taking her hand and pressing it against his neck. No pulse. She sighs and looks over at Ryder. She then reaches over, grabbing her gun. She points it at the side of his head and then sighs. Julie sighs and then points her gun again, taking a deep breath before pulling it back. Ryder, now fed up with Julie, pulls out a knife and stabs Paul right in the head. Julie jumps back a bit, screaming and looking up at him. You didn t have to do it like that. We have to damage the brain. It s the only way to prevent them from coming back. You still didn t have to do it like that! Did you have any other idea? We have a limited time before they come back.

23. I m just saying we would ve put him down in a cleaner way. A more respectable way! There isn t any clean way of putting down a Zombie. He s not a Zombie! We can t be attached to the dead, Julie! The second we let the grief in, we lose ourselves and become vulnerable. I, for one, want to survive. I want to be able to get out of this still being me. I m going to make sure, I survive. Julie takes a step back, looking him up and down. Translation. It just means if it comes down to me or you, you ll just chose yourself. Like you always have. Julie walks past him, making sure to nudge him out of the way as she walks back towards her apartment. INT. APARTMENT BUILDING, EVAN S APARTMENT, CONTINUOUS Julie ENTERS. She starts rounding up their stuff, stuffing it into her backpack. Ryder trails in after her. I saved you didn t I? That was six months ago, Ry. You saw my sister and I. You saw that we were going to die. And I never got a thank you, now did I? Julie stops for a moment, but then goes right back to packing. Ryder shakes his head and begins rounding up his things.

24. (CONT D) We ve been together for six months and we still haven t talked about --? -- I don t want to think about it. Julie is about to leave, but Ryder stops her. Just so you know... I do want to survive. I will fight to protect myself. But that doesn t mean I won t protect you. Julie looks at him. And then sighs a bit. You know I hate you. I know you do. (beat) But I promised Caitlyn, I would keep you alive. And I am a man of my word. Julie sighs and sets her bag down. She then sits down on the couch, putting her head into her hands. Ryder then sits down next to her, taking her hand. Julie looks up at him and then rests her head on his shoulder. They both sit there, in silence. FLASH CUT TO: EXT. NORTH STATION - DAY (FLASHBACK) The station is crazy, everyone trying to get in. Military are set up in front of it, firing off into the crowd, unsure about who, or what, they are killing. Through the sea of people, Julie, Caitlyn and Ryder fight their way through. People around them being taken down. Blood EXPLODING from their heads. We have to get into the station! Cait!? What ever you do!? Don t let go of my hand!

25. More people are taken down, either by bullets, or zombies. Caitlyn looks around, watching as she sees a young woman get taken down. The woman screams loudly, her face being BITTEN off as they rip through the skin. Suddenly -- INSERT: On Julie and Caitlyn s hands. A ZOMBIE comes ripping through the crowd, BITING Caitlyn s wrist. She screams and separates apart from Julie. Julie turns, screaming loudly. (CONT D) (screaming) Caitlyn! NO!!! Ryder then takes his gun, shooting the zombie that bit Caitlyn. The zombie then falls dead to the ground. Caitlyn looks at her wrist, blood slowly pouring out as she looks up at her sister. We push in on Julie s horror and off that we -- END OF ACT TWO BLACKOUT.

26. ACT THREE FADE IN: EXT. BACK ROADS - DAY (THE NEXT DAY) The wind blows leaves across the road as suddenly, a PICK UP comes zooming by. INT. PICK UP TRUCK - CONTINUOUS Julie sits in the passenger seat as Ryder drives. Julie looks over to Ryder. How long until we make it back to base camp? (sighing) About twenty minutes, depending on traffic. Julie smiles and laughs a bit as she watches the road. She looks to the side, seeing smoke rising from another city. It s black. Looks like that building is still burning. Probably just some zombies stumbled upon some meth lab. You think that ll spread to the woods? That s a problem for another day. Julie sighs and leans her head against the window. Suddenly, the car begins to jolt, and begins to slow down. (CONT D) No, no, no, no! Fucking piece of shit! What s wrong?

27. The fucking piece of shit! The engine can barley make it back to camp, let alone run right! Ryder then gets out and Julie follows after him. EXT. ABANDONED ROADS - CONTINUOUS Ryder pops open the hood, white smoke coming out from the engine. He waves his hand over it and sighs a bit as he then kicks one of the tires. Julie watches him, leaning against the side of the truck. Motherfucker! Julie laughs and he looks at her. (CONT D) (aggravated) What? Is there something funny? It s just funny when the clean cut, prep boy from the Ford family swears about a pick up truck. I know how to fix cars. Oh yeah? Tell that to my old Mazda from High School. You said you could fix it, next thing we know, we re roasting marshmallows on it. Ryder rolls his eyes and looks up and down the road. He then looks towards Julie. I think there s an Auto Body in town. Maybe we can go there, find the part we need. (laughing) Do you even know what part we need? She then goes to the back of the truck, grabbing their supplies.

28. You re coming? I m with you, right? Til the end. Til the very end. They pause and look at each other. She smiles and looks down, brushing some hair away from her head as they begin walking towards the town. FLASH CUT TO: EXT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE, MAIN ROOM - DAY (FLASHBACK) The doors fall to the ground and Julie, Caitlyn and Ryder come rushing in. Julie and Ryder carry Caitlyn. Careful of her head! They set her down on the ground, Ryder taking off his coat so Caitlyn can have a pillow. Julie grabs a bottle of water, putting it onto a rag to clean the wound. (CONT D) (panicked) There s a first aid kit in my bag. Get it, there should be some bandages. Julie, I don t think Just get the damn kit! Ryder sighs and starts going through the bag. Caitlyn breathes heavily, looking up at Julie. CAITLYN How come we re stopping? We can t keep moving with you like this, you re losing a lot of blood.

29. Can t we just go to the hospital and get some blood bags. She s O Negative. Okay cool, so we can just get a bag. No! That s the rarest blood type there is! Caitlyn then looks up at the two of them. CAITLYN Can we stop talking like I m not here?! Julie sighs and then gets down to brush the hair out of Caitlyn s hair. Sorry, we re just trying to figure out a way to save you. CAITLYN But, didn t they say on the news that once you re bitten you re going to turn? (soothing) You re not going to turn. I m going to make sure of it. Okay? Caitlyn nods and Ryder comes back over with the first aid kit. He begins to treat Caitlyn s bite. He looks over at Julie. Ryder sighs and then nods, continuing to treat the wound. Caityln begins to cry, holding onto Julie s hand tightly. FLASH CUT TO: EXT. SMALL TOWN, STREETS - DAY Julie and Ryder emerge from an alley way. The town looks abandoned, run down, and seems as if no one has lived there for years.

30. They walk down the middle of the road, looking up and down the alley ways, looking for any sign of life. Anything? Nothing on my end. Julie looks behind them, nothing following behind them. She sighs and turns back around. It s like a ghost town. I don t think we re going to find much here. Suddenly, there is a cock of a gun. Julie and Ryder stop in their tracks, standing in front of them, a tall, slim boy. He looks at the two, a revolver pointed at them. His name is JIMMY. JIMMY Put your hands up. (calmly) Hey, just take it --. JIMMY -- I said put your fucking hands up! Alright kid, just take it easy. JIMMY Are you not going to listen to me? I have you surrounded. Another gun cocks. Julie glances behind her, seeing a shorter girl, her hair a mess and gun pointed a bit more expertly at the pair. Meet KAT. KAT Are you not going to listen to us? VINCE (O.S.) Or are we going to have to blow your brains out?

31. Julie looks over, a shorter boy standing next to Jimmy, his hair messy and clothes a bit more torn. This is VINCE. Julie and Ryder glance at each other before sighing. Off that we -- END OF ACT THREE BLACKOUT.

32. ACT FOUR FADE IN: EXT. SMALL TOWN, STREETS - DAY Julie and Ryder stand there, hands up as they are now surrounded by the three teenagers. Julie looks at the two girls as they circle and join the boys. You do realize you re dealing with a cop, right? KAT We really don t care. The po po don t have any kind of law around these places. VINCE We run this town. Ryder rolls his eyes and looks at the kids. You think you really can take the two of us down? JIMMY We are the ones with the guns. Guns rarely solve anything. KAT They seem to take Zombies and pretty little girls like yourself down easily. Julie watches as Kat raises her gun higher, pointing it right at her head. You don t have to kill us. We can make a deal. JIMMY What makes you think we want to make a deal with us?

33. Because you would ve killed us by now if you didn t want something that we had. The teenagers look at each other, not lowering their guns. Jimmy then takes a step forward. JIMMY You guys have food? I have a few cans in my bag. (whispering) What the hell are you doing? We need those. (whispering) Ryder, they are just kids. What can they do to us? Last I checked, we re the ones with our hands up. And I don t negotiate with criminals. Ryder glances over to the kids. They re just trying to survive, just like we are. Julie then begins to lower hands, slowly. Jimmy points his gun right at her. JIMMY Better watch yourself lady! Don t pull any kind of shit with me. I m just going to give you the food I have. I promise, I won t do anything. She slowly opens her bag, she begins pulling out the cans and putting them on the ground. Behind her, a SOLIDER ZOMBIE stumbles out from behind a building. It limps it way over towards the groups of people. Vince notices and points his gun at it. He fires quickly, missing each time.

34. KAT (yelling) What the fuck are you doing!? VINCE Gotta put those fuckers down! He fires again, hitting the Solider right in the face. Vince smirks and points his gun right back at Julie and Ryder. VINCE (CONT D) I never miss my mark. KAT Tell that to the five bullets you just wasted. Vince stands there, but then looks off behind Julie and Ryder. Slowly emerging from the alleyways and a few of the buildings, a large group of SMALL TOWN ZOMBIES, begin limping their way towards the street. VINCE Holy fuck --! Vince turns around to run but then comes face to face with a NOSELESS ZOMBIE. The Zombie takes him down, biting down on his shoulder and neck. Vince screams bloody murder. Julie and Ryder then stand up, grabbing their weapons. Julie grabbing her knife at first but then looks at the pistol on the ground. She grabs it and cocks it. Ryder then begins firing the AK-47 off into the horde of Zombies. Julie then stands next to him, firing a few rounds. Julie runs over towards the teenagers, putting down a few more Zombies as they get closer. Is there someplace safe we can go? Somewhere where we can plan a way out? KAT The City Hall. It s where we re set up. Julie nods and looks at Ryder, she s basically pleading with her eyes. It s our only shot.

35. Fine, but you kids are going in front of us! The remaining three kids nod and they begin to run. Julie and Ryder run behind them. Vince s screaming has now stopped as a group of Zombies tear him apart, blood flowing onto the street. FLASH CUT TO: INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE, MAIN ROOM - DAY (FLASHBACK) Caitlyn now lays inside of a sleeping bag. Her arm bandaged up. Julie watches from the side, her face stained with tears. Ryder walks over with a water bottle. You have to drink. Julie doesn t respond and continues to look at Caitlyn. (CONT D) (sighing) Julie, there s nothing more you can do. (weepy) Ryder, I can t lose her. Julie, I know. But there isn t a cure for this. We re going to have to -- - If you kill her, you ll have to kill me first. I m saying we should kill her. We need to put her out of her misery. She s going to make it out of this. She s strong. She s been bitten!

36. She s fine! Julie says, grabbing the water from Ryder. She walks over towards Caitlyn. She kneels down on the ground next to Caitlyn and brushes some hair away from her face. (CONT D) (softly) Hey, I brought you some water. She watches Caitlyn s face. But she does not respond. Julie then begins to look a big panicked. She shakes Caitlyn s body softly. Cait --! Julie --. (CONT D) No! She s fine! She s just asleep! Julie then shakes Caitlyn harder. She then throws the water off to the side. She panics and beings to do CPR to her sister. (CONT D) You re fine! You re fine! Just wake up! Come on kiddo! (crying) WAKE UP! Ryder walks over and pulls Julie off of Caitlyn. Julie! She s gone! No she s not! Suddenly, Caitlyn starts to move. Julie and Ryder stop in that moment. Julie pushes Ryder off of her and looks at Caitlyn. Cait? (CONT D) Off Julie s question -- FLASH CUT TO:

37. EXT. SMALL TOWN, STREETS - DAY The group runs down the street, as more and more Zombies emerge out of the shadows. Kat fires her gun off into the horde that follows them. But they miss every single time. There s no sense in wasting your bullets. KAT I just watched my friend get taken down by a Zombie! I don t really care at this point. It s time to grow up, we have to keep moving. They come up to City Hall, behind them, the horde has DOUBLED in size. As the climb up the stairs, Jimmy breaks the door down. Ryder then falls to the ground, a Zombie grabbing his leg. Julie turns around and takes her stance, she then fires her gun, shooting the zombie right in the head. Ryder looks back at her, in shock. (CONT D) When the hell did you get so good? I learned from the best. She picks him up and helps him inside of the building. INT. CITY HALL, FRONT LOBBY - CONTINUOUS Kat and Jimmy shut the doors, putting a blockade in front of it as they watch the Zombies begin to bang on the door. We gotta find a way out of here! JIMMY There isn t a way out of here! This front door is the exit. There has to be, kid! Small ass town like this has to have a way out!

38. KAT There isn t! Ryder groaned and then grabbed Julie, beginning to walk with her. Where are we going? City Planners office. There has to be a way out of here and we need to find it. Julie stops him and looks back at the kids. The kids look at them, cautiously almost. Like they re hiding something. Something is off with them. We don t have time to point fingers, Julie. I know, but -- nevermind. Let s just find a way out of here. Julie and Ryder walk down the hall. Jimmy and Kat look at them, suspicion growing on their faces. JIMMY They have guns... and a camp. KAT Do you really think they ll just let us in? We almost killed them. And if the found out what we ve done? (beat) There is no way in hell they would let us join the. Coming out of the shadows is a young girl, blonde hair and tan skin. She is a bit more, revealing. This is SABRINA. SABRINA What the hell is going on? Jimmy turns slowly to her. JIMMY Just a horde. Don t worry about it.

39. SABRINA Will we be okay? KAT Don t worry about it. You re with us now. Sabrina nods and then walks past the two and goes to look out the window. Jimmy then looks towards Sabrina, and then back at Kat. KAT (CONT D) If she found out there was another camp. She would go with them in a heartbeat. JIMMY The Skull Faces know our deal. We promised him that we would give her back to him and we would get what we needed. Push in on Jimmy and his gaze towards Sabrina. INT. CITY HALL, CITY PLANNERS OFFICE - DAY Julie and Ryder break down the door, walking into the crowded area of files and supplies. Looks, like someone has been hiding out in here. Wonder where they are now. Ryder then looks towards the back of the room, a man lays there, head BLASTED open and blood staining the wall. Julie turns and then screams. (CONT D) God, damn it! What? Not the first dead body you ve seen. He clicks on a flashlight and begins to go through the files. Still, it s not something I want to see.

40. We gotta get used to it, Evans. I don t think I ever will. She begins to flick through some files, trying to find what they are looking for. (CONT D) I can t find anything. It s like the only thing in here are permits for a new dog park and fixing the speed bumps. It doesn t help that a bunch of this is covered in a bunch of blood. Ryder then throws back a few papers and dicovers A TUNNEL MAP. (CONT D) Julie! I got something. Julie walks over, taking his flashlight and shining it over the map. What is that? A lot of towns have tunnels that run into them and out of the woods. Do you think we can get by the camp. The only exit is the opposite way. But it looks like it leads out to the truck. (mumbling) A broken down truck. Those kids have to have a car or something. He then grabs the map and rolls it up.

41. And what? Just leave them for dead? We re not taking them with us. It s kinda rude to just waltz in, get them attacked and then steal from them. If we re going to point fingers, they attacked us first. So that means we should just leave them for dead? I thought we were still human. Julie, I know you want to still be human. But one of these days? You re going to break and turn into something you re not. You know that s the only thing that s keeping me going. Keeping who I am. (sighing) Julie we can t keep them. Do we even have room for them in the camp? We made room for your army buddies... what s wrong with bringing in Orphans. They re still kids, trying to survive. Is this about them? Or is it about someone else. Julie stops and looks down. She then looks up to him and grabs the map from him. This isn t about Caitlyn. Yes, I am fighting. (MORE)

42. (CONT'D) Yes, I m sticking with you, because I don t know how to survive. I can t just change who I am all because the world went to shit! I m not asking you to change. I just think it s time you stop thinking with your heart. And start using your head. He walks by her, leaving Julie alone for a minute before she turns around and follows him out. INT. CITY HALL, FRONT LOBBY - CONTINUOUS Ryder and Julie walk down the hall, joining the Orphans. The kids turn towards them and cross their arms. Julie notices Sabrina and raises a brow. Who s this? KAT She s not important. Does she have a name? SABRINA It s Sabrina... (beat) Are you here to save us? Jimmy tenses a bit. Julie notices and looks at Ryder before looking back at Sabrina. We re going to figure out how to get out. And we think we may have found a way. There are tunnels that run from underneath City Hall and out towards the woods. KAT Like that sounds safe. SABRINA It might be our only chance.

43. KAT You don t get a say in any of this, bitch. Hey! You really don t have to call her that. KAT You don t even know what she s done to us. Sabrina then turns to Kat, ducking her head a bit in shame. What did she do? KAT It s only for Orphans to know. JIMMY And plus, where she goes? We go. So thanks for the tip, but we think our odds are better in here then out there with you! Julie looks at Sabrina, who looks a bit more hesitant. Julie then slowly walks over. You don t want this. I can see it in your eyes. You want out. JIMMY You don t speak for her. And what, you do?! Julie, this isn t our problem. (off Ryder) She s coming with us. JIMMY She s not going anywhere with you! Sabrina, now fed up, grabs Jimmy s pistol, pointing it right at his head.` SABRINA You don t speak for me, Jimmy.

44. JIMMY You think you can just up and leave? You owe me, remember!? SABRINA You don t own me! Julie then walks forward, grabbing Sabrina s arm and lowering it slightly. The Zombies at the door begin getting louder. You can come with us, and I promise you ll be safe. Sabrina then lowers the gun a bit more, nodding slightly at Julie. (CONT D) No one has to die. The gun now lays at Sabrina s side. Julie smiles a bit and looks at the girl. But suddenly Jimmy walks over, grabbing Sabrina s gun. He pins her to the wall, pointing the gun to her temple. Ryder pulls out his pistol, pointing it towards Jimmy. JIMMY Make one more move and I will kill her! Everyone, just calm down. No one has to die! SABRINA I dare you. Do it. I have nothing else to lose. JIMMY I would. But I need you alive! What is he talking about? KAT You really think that we can all survive like this? We made a deal with this Biker group, the Skull Faces. What the hell, kid! What did you promise them!?

45. JIMMY I promised them Sabrina. (to Sabrina) And believe me, he s going to be so happy to see you! Sabrina then looks at him, her eyes widening a bit in fear. SABRINA Why would you do that? You know I can t go back to him! JIMMY You know why bitch! You re the reason our parents are dead! Hey! She s just a girl. JIMMY I m not waiting around. I m done running, I want to survive. He then grabs Sabrina and begins to walk towards the tunnels. His gun now pointed at Ryder and Julie. JIMMY (CONT D) You re going to show me the way out of here. Then you re going to surrender your weapons. Julie and Ryder glance at each other. Ryder s eyes drift over towards the door. He then takes his gun, shooting the door lock. The door then BURSTS open and pouring in, the Zombies. Kat screams and begins running. Julie reaches over, grabbing Sabrina and begins running. Ryder then takes his gun, shooting Jimmy in the LEG. Jimmy screams and falls to the ground, Zombies begins to climb on top of him, tearing him apart. Why did you do that?! He would ve killed us! We have to get back to our camp. Sabrina holds onto Julie as they begins to run towards the basement.

46. Jimmy has stopped screaming, the zombies eating him now. The Zombies then begins their walk towards the basement. INT. CITY HALL, BASEMENT - CONTINUOUS The small group runs in. Sabrina looks at Kat as she sits there, tears in her eyes. Ryder then runs over to a brick wall, grabbing a sludge hammer and SMASHING the wall down to reveal the tunnels. Let s go! Julie helps Sabrina in and looks towards Kat. Come on! KAT I m not coming! You just killed my friend! Look, I m sorry. But he would ve killed us! KAT You re the killer! That s what you are! You re a kill--! A OLD WOMAN ZOMBIE then emerges from the dark, biting down on Kat s neck. She screams as blood GUSHES from her neck. Julie then grabs her gun, killing the Zombie. She looks at Kat as she falls to the ground, trying to stop the bleeding. Julie then looks back towards the tunnel and then at Kat. She then turns around, running into the tunnels after Sabrina and Ryder. Kat s screams echo loudly as -- EXT. WOODS - DAY (LATER) A small wooden door BREAKS open and out walks Ryder. He holds a gun and looks around. Nothing. He then leans in, pulling out Sabrina. Julie then comes out, her face glossed over in guilt. Ryder notices and helps her. He then looks at Sabrina. We re safe now. Sabrina catches her breath and looks at the two others.

47. SABRINA Thank you, for saving my life. Why were they going to hand you over? Ryder...? (beat) Don t put her through this. SABRINA It s okay... The Skull Faces, they wanted me back. Back? Why? SABRINA My father is their leader. I got away from him because I saw him kill my Mother. He s abusive and controlling. I just had to get away. (beat) He made a deal with Jimmy... A deal that if he handed me over, my Dad would give him all the supplies he needed. And you were just going to go along with this? SABRINA I didn t see another way out. (beat) Until you gave me one. Julie thinks for a minute and then walks over, grabbing Sabrina s hand. We re going to take you back to our camp, make sure that you re safe. SABRINA But he ll find us. Don t worry, we protect each other there. And we ll protect you.

48. Sabrina nods as Julie wraps her arm around Sabrina. Supporting her as she walks the girl towards the road. Ryder follows behind them. Music begins to play Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1) Acoustic by AURORA EXT. ABANDONED ROADS - CONTINUOUS Julie, Ryder and Sabrina come out of the woods. Ryder begins to unload the back of the truck. He takes one longing look at it. Sabrina takes a few things. Julie looks off down the road. One SINGLE ZOMBIE walks down the road. She watches it as it limps down the road. She then turns away and begins to walk away from the truck with the others. EXT. FIELD - CONTINUOUS Julie trails slowly behind Ryder and Sabrina as they talk and share a bottle of water. Julie reaches into her pocket, pulling out a folded piece of paper. INSERT: It s a photo of her and Caitlyn. Both of them look much younger. But happy. Julie then puts the picture away, tucking it away as they approach --- EXT. CAMP SITE, MAIN AREA - CONTINUOUS -- Julie walks over to a table, setting down a few bags. Everyone scattered around. A few doing laundry as some cook on large fires. A woman walks over, exhausted. Her hair up in a messy bun. Her clothes a bit more cleaner then everyone else. Meet CAMERON PARKS. CAMERON Please tell me you found some actual food? And not dog food? We found that. But it s not for you. But we did manage to find those seeds Benji was asking for. Walking over to them, a practically large man. Long, messy hair and sweaty forehead. But a large smile on his face. Meet BENJI PORTER.

49. BENJI Thank god! Maybe I can grow some sweet kale and actual tomatoes that aren't from a can. Julie smiles and pats him on the back as she begins to unload the bags. CAMERON How come it took you two so long to get back? Julie then looks over towards Sabrina. Sabrina stands off to the side. Arms crossed and unsure what to do. Cameron notices and looks at Julie. CAMERON (CONT D) Who is that? She s a girl we found. We re going to make sure she s well taken care off. Well -- CAMERON Cameron then grabs something from another table and walks over to Sabrina. CAMERON (CONT D) -- Looks like you have had a rough day. She then holds up a red apple. CAMERON (CONT D) Make sure you eat and get some water from the well. Welcome to the Camp. Sabrina reluctantly takes the apple and watches as Cameron walks over to the table. Julie then grabs a couple things of food and looks at Ryder. Ryder nods and looks at Julie as she walks off. Julie walks over to her tent and sighs for a second before walking in and --
