2 Directions to Kutztown University The charming borough of Kutztown is nestled in the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside of Berks County in southeastern Pennsylvania. Kutztown is midway between Reading and Allentown on Route 222. The town is approximately 2 hours from New York City, 1.5 hours from Philadelphia and Harrisburg, and 3 hours from Baltimore/Washington. 3 INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS Ages: Athletes must enter the NER Championships at the age they will be on Dec. 31, Competition level: Athletes and groups will compete at their level of competition as of the NER deadline date, Exception: Show and Parade Corps must compete in the class they hold as of May 1, USTA Membership: All participants must hold some form of USTA membership. Membership number is required on all entry forms and group rosters. Get your membership early. Download a membership application or apply online at NEW RULES: 1) Member for a Day is now available for state and regional competitions for all events except pre-trials. 2) Athletes who are members of a group having a team, group or organizational membership may enter foundation events (Basic, Military, Presentation, Parade March, Rhythm Twirl, and Body Forms) without having to have another type of USTA membership. All members with these types of membership are assigned individual USTA numbers. In order to compete in these foundation events you must list this USTA number on the entry form. Deadline/Method of Payment: USPO postmark by midnight April 1, No metered mail. Phone, hand delivered, or mail that requires signatures will NOT be accepted. Money order/bank certified checks ONLY payable to: Eastern Regionals Registration Fee (Individuals & Pairs Mbr) - 30 Mandatory for all individual/pair participants (both pair partners pay). This fee helps defray such costs as the use of the facility, parking, surcharges, and awards, as well as judges fees, airfare, food and lodging. MUSIC as of 2012: Music for Solo, 2-Baton and 3-Baton. Adv Solo/Pairs will be performed to the WBTF IC Solo music, time 1:48. Nov/Beg/Int Solo, Beg/Int Pairs, & all 2 & 3 Baton (Beg/Int/Adv) will be performed to the WBTF IC multiple baton music, time 1:30. Music for Dance Twirl Solo & Dance Twirl Pairs. New as of 9/1/13. All DT Solo/DT Pairs will be performed to the WBTF Artistic Twirl. Time 1:45. Music is available for free download on Finals for Individual Events 2015 NER will not be following the national format for finals. (See USTA rulebook for national format effective 9/1/12) NER s format will be as follows for 2015: In events that begin at single age preliminaries, we will take the top 2 in each age group to re-compete for a divisional winner (Renamed semi final winner. Primary 0-8, Juvenile 9-12, Junior 13-16, Senior 17-20, Adult 21+) We will take the top 2 of each division (semi final: Juv, Jr, Sr, Adult) to re-compete for one Grand Champion in each event. The Primary athletes will end at the divisional (semi final) round. They do NOT move on to the Grand Champion final. NO PRIVATE LESSONS ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON CAMPUS! Parent/Guardian Responsibilities: Before signing the waivers at the bottom of individual and group entry forms, parents/guardians should read the Parent/Guardian Responsibilities contained in the current USTA rule book at Group Entry Form: 1. This form contains two pages. The group waiver must be signed. 2. All entries must be accompanied by an attached roster. Please type or print clearly. 3. To avoid personnel conflicts, all members of more than one team/corps/organization must be designated on a separate list and attached to the roster. List the name of the other groups; specify category, level and age division. 4. Fee columns include USTA surcharge. Registration is 7 per athlete in lieu of admission fee. Organization fee 45, pay once per organization. Please do not staple checks to entry form. Group Ages: Average age Primary 9 & under; Juvenile 10-12; Junior 13-15; Senior 16 & over Tiny Tots - all members must be 7 or under. Teams, Trios & Corps may only compete in one age category per event unless there is a 25% or more change in team personnel and one or more members is of the next age division. Trio teams (prim, juv, jr & sr only, no tiny tot trios) consist of 3 members. Small teams consist of 4-8 members. Large teams consist of 9+ members. CLASSIFICATIONS FOR SHOW & PARADE CORPS: Jr (0-15) & Sr (16+), A Class & Open; average age of twirling members only. No age limit for auxiliary members. Since USTA no longer sanctions Novice Parade Corps, this event will be offered as a nonsanctioned event Juv (0-12), Jr (13-15), Sr (16+) Group Time Limits: Twirling Teams min. with 10 sec. leeway; Dance Twirl Teams 2-3 min. with 10 sec. leeway. Trio Teams 2-3 min. with 10 sec. leeway. Parade Corps 2-3 min. with 10 sec. leeway, forward progression movement 1:30 min.; Show Corps 4-6 min. with 10 sec. leeway. Pom teams: Tot & Pri. max. 2 min.; Juv, Jr, Sr max. 3 min. (no minimum time for pom teams). NEW TEAM EVENT (9/1/11) : Show Team. 2-3 min. with 10 sec leeway. Check the USTA web site and rulebook for information. Team Restriction: Twirl Teams and Dance Twirl Teams who choose to compete in both categories MUST adhere to the following regulations: a) must compete with different routines understanding that selected sections may be used in both routines (i.e. 2 baton/3 baton section, finger series, rolls, etc.); b) must utilize completely different song/music selections. (Check USTA for possible Show Team Restrictions) Order of Performance for Groups: Saturday: FOF teams/trios first followed by Novice Parade Corps, Pom Teams, Corps and Ensembles. NER (adv) teams/trios will perform last. Awards after last team. Group events will be scheduled in the order that prevents as many personnel conflicts as possible. Lineups will be sent to directors approximately 2 weeks prior to contest. 9 Exhibitor Information USTA North East Regional 45 th Championships May 28 May 31, 2015 Kutztown University Kutztown, Pennsylvania Exhibit Hours: 8 am 5 pm (Hours subject to change per competition day) Estimated attendance is 500 athletes and 50 coaches. Deadline for receipt of exhibitor contract and fee is April 1, Exhibitor s Booth Fee is 400 and is non-refundable. Exhibitors fee includes a 1/2 page ad in the event s souvenir program, if you supply black/white artwork. Booths may be set up after 9 am on 5/28/15 & must be dis-assembled by end of competition on 5/31/15. Exhibitors may choose to be present for only a portion of the event. Exhibitor fee is NOT discounted if you are NOT setting up for the entire event. Location of booths is determined by events directors.
