3 General Information All participants must be registered with the SCTP program and have all team, coach and participant paperwork on file with the SCTP and/or Iowa DNR before participating. Information is available on the DNR website. All athletes must have the respective National Governing Body membership paperwork completed prior to the state shoot. Membership applications will not be accepted at the state shoots. All squads must be at their assigned field/trap, ready to shoot by the time the previous squad starts their final round. Failure to be on time may result in disqualification. Concessions will be available at each state shoot. Use of tobacco is prohibited for all contestants, coaches and spectators. Use of alcohol by minors or adults is strictly prohibited during the course of events or awards ceremonies. Shoot management reserves the right to alter/change the shoot program at any time, for any reason. League Information The governing rules for leagues are those of the SCTP and the applicable National Governing Body. All events must be between two or more registered SCTP teams. All events must be published on the SCTP Shot 5 system 14 days prior to the event. All scores for teams and individuals must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 3 days of the conclusion of the event. Results from any event shot on the last day of the season must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 24 hours. Registered Shoots (ATA, NSSA, NSCA) can count toward league scores and be entered in SHOT 5 under the following conditions: The registered event is entered in SHOT 5 at least 14 days prior to the event. For ATA singles and doubles events, the shoot should be entered in SHOT 5 as two events of 50 targets each (1st 2 rounds are first event, 2nd 2 rounds are second event). For NSCA 0r NSSA 100 target shoots, the shoot should also be entered into SHOT 5 as two events of 50 targets. Registration is closed in SHOT 5 at least the night before the event in order for targets to be used for SCTP purposes. An athlete must be registered for the event on SHOT 5 in order for the targets to be used for SCTP. There must be athletes from at least 2 different teams participating at the event. Each team must have at least 1 full squad at the event for it to count as a league shoot. For fall 2015 shoots only, there is no minimum number of athletes per team. The host coach must enter the scores into SHOT 5 and is responsible for obtaining copies of the scoresheets from the host club for the SCTP athletes. League specific requirements can be found in this program for each league. 3

4 MidwayUSA Foundation Scholastic Shooting Trust funds for the 2016 Iowa State Championship Events All teams registered with the Scholastic Clay Target Program are eligible for team endowment funding. Any and all funding will go directly to a team s endowment account and withdrawal of funding is through the endowment granting process only. The 2016 Endowment Schedule will be provided once the 2016 budget is received from the Midway USA Foundation and the Iowa SCTP, Inc. Board has approved the disbursement process. 4

5 Collegiate Trap Championship April 30 at the Stockdale Gun Club Ackley, IA The 2016 Scholastic Clay Target Program Collegiate State Trap Championships will consist of two events, a Doubles Trap Championship and American Trap Singles Championship. The Doubles Championship will consist of 100 targets (50 pairs) and the American Trap Championship will consist of 200, 16 yard targets. All singles trap targets will be registered (ATA and ISTA registration is required). Event Registration Both events are open to Iowa based Collegiate Teams. Athletes must be enrolled full-time at their respective institution and in good standing. All participants must be registered and fully paid by 10:00 am. Teams, Coaches, and Athletes must be registered with the Scholastic Clay Target Program and athletes must be members of the ATA. Coaches must register their teams through the SHOT 5 system. Entry Fees Entry fees for the Collegiate state trap championships will be as follows: Doubles Championship - $26 American Trap Championship - $55 (including ATA daily fees) *ISTA daily fees are waived for these events. Entry fee payment will be made to Iowa SCTP, Inc. and will be collected the day of the competition. Practice Traps (available all day beginning at 9am) 16 yard practice trap - $6.00 per round Doubles Practice trap $6.00 per round (12 pair) Event Schedule 9:00AM Registration and Practice Fields Open 9:45AM Coaches Meeting 10:00AM Competition Begins - 16 yd. Singles and shoot-offs - Doubles Trap and shoot-offs - Awards Course of Fire Course of fire will be American Trap (16 yard), 200 targets, and American Doubles Trap (100 targets). Competitive Categories All athletes must be classified in the SHOT 5 system as collegiate athletes. Rules Current SCTP, ATA rules, and any match director s bulletins posted at the range govern this match. Ties for 1st-6th place among individuals, squads or teams will result in shoot-offs and will follow the SCTP shoot-off procedures. 5

7 Junior Olympic Trap Championships May at AVAD Hunt Club Coon Rapids, IA The 2016 Iowa Junior Olympic (JO) Trap Championships will consist of 125 targets. Athletes qualifying in this state match will have the opportunity to compete at the USAS International Shooting Park in Colorado Springs, CO. Registration Deadline and Procedures Entry form should be postmarked or ed to event management by May 14. Entry fee payment will be made to AVAD Hunt Club and will be collected the day of the competition. Athletes qualifying in this state match will have the opportunity to compete at the USAS International Shooting Park in Colorado Springs, CO. 9 Junior Olympic Skeet Championships May 28-29, at the New Pioneer Clay Target Center Waukee, IA The 2016 Iowa Junior Olympic (JO) Skeet Championships will consist of 125 total targets. 75 targets on Saturday, and 50 targets on Sunday. The event will conclude with a fun final with flash targets after the 50 targets on Sunday. This is for fun only and will have no bearing on the 125 target results. Athletes qualifying in this state match will have the opportunity to compete at the USAS International Shooting Park in Colorado Springs, CO. Registration Deadline and Procedures The application deadline will be May 20th. Practice Practice will be available on May 27th from 1:00PM to 7:00PM, for $6.50 per round. 10 The Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP) provides the opportunity for young adults to participate in the exciting and challenging family sport of speed shooting in a supportive environment taught by trained and supportive adult coaches focusing on the safe handling and use of handguns. The basic competitive unit of SPP is a four-person squad; each squad shoots four stages. In SPP competition, your time is your score. Total score for all stages will determine each competitor s match score. The combined scores of the four athletes become the squad s match score. Registration Registration will be handled by the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation either through the online SHOT 5 system or through paper registration. Entry Fees Entry fees for the Scholastic Pistol Program Championship will be $20.00 per competitor. Entry fee payment will be made to Iowa SCTP, Inc. and will be collected the day of the competition. Practice The stages will be set up and available for practice on Saturday, June 4, from 5pm to 7pm. Event Schedule 9:00AM Registration 9:45AM Pre-match meeting 10:00AM Match Begins Scholastic Pistol Program State Championships June 5, at Dragoon Chapter (Ankeny) Izaak Walton League Divisions Divisions and categories will follow the criteria defined by the Scholastic Pistol Program: Intermediate (6-8 grades) Entry Level (1st year of participation as an Intermediate) Advanced Senior (9-12 grades) Junior Varsity (1st year of participation as a Senior) Varsity Collegiate Competitive Squads Competitive squads will consist of four athletes from the same SPP team. Athletes from teams who cannot field full squads will compete for individual awards only. Any squad composed of athletes from different divisions or categories will compete for individual awards and squad awards in the Open Division. 10

11 Rules The rules defined by the Scholastic Pistol Program and the International Defensive Pistol Association shall govern this event. Ties for 1st-3rd place among individuals or teams will be decided based on the SPP tie-breaking procedure. Eligibility All athletes must be registered with the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation and meet eligibility requirements as outlined in the SPP Handbook. 12 State Trap Championships June 9-12, at the ISTA Homegrounds Cedar Falls, IA The 2016 Scholastic Clay Target Program State Trap Championships will consist of three events, a Doubles Trap Championship, a Handicap Championship, and American Singles Trap Championship. The Doubles Championship will consist of 100 targets (50 pairs), Handicap Trap Championship will consist of 100 targets (Rookies from 19 yd., Intermediates from 21 yd., and Senior & Collegiate from 25 yd.), and the American Trap Championship will consist of 200, 16 yard targets for Seniors and Intermediates, and 100, 16 yard targets for Rookies. Only the 16 yard single American Trap State Championship targets will be registered (ATA and ISTA registration is required). Event Registration All participating teams must have registered their team, coach and athlete information on the SHOT 5 system prior to registering for this event. Coaches or their designee are responsible for event registration and squad assembly, which must be done through the SHOT 5 system ( shot.sssfonline.com/shot5/index.asp?fct=l ). Time and trap assignments are on a first-come, firstserved basis. On-site registrations for this event will not be accepted. All squads must be assembled online by June 5. Entry Fees Entry fees for the SCTP state trap championships will be as follows: Doubles Championship (all divisions) - $32 Handicap Trap Championship (all divisions) - $32 American Trap Championship Senior and Intermediate Divisions - $61 (includes ATA daily fees) American Trap Championship Rookie Division -$32 (includes ATA daily fees) * All entry fees include targets and scoring fees. ISTA daily fees are waived for these events. Entry fee payment will be made to Iowa SCTP, Inc. and will be collected the day of the competition. Practice Designated practice traps will be open on Wednesday, June 8 from 3pm to 7pm for all three disciplines. Starting at 7am on Thursday and for the remainder of the event, practice will be allowed on 10 designated traps from 7 to 8 am and then on 2 designated traps for the remainder of the day [barring unforeseen circumstances]. Practice tickets are required and can be purchased in the registration building. Cost for practice is $6 per round of 25 targets for handicap and American trap, and $6 for doubles (12 pair). 12

Your entire squad must be ready to shoot by the time the previous squad starts their final round. Failure to be present at your assigned trap on time may result in disqualification. Squads will be required to complete their targets in the allotted time. Failure to complete the targets in the allotted time will result in the incomplete round(s) being scored as lost. Exceptions may be made for athletes with disabilities. It is the coach s responsibility to notify shoot management to receive an exception prior to a squad with a disabled athlete taking the field. Divisions Divisions and categories will follow the criteria defined by the Scholastic Clay Target Program: Rookie (5th grade and under) Intermediate (6-8 grades) Entry Level (1st year of participation as an Intermediate) Advanced Senior (9-12 grades) Junior Varsity (1st year of participation as a Senior) Varsity Competitive Squads Competitive squads will consist of five athletes from the same SCTP team. Athletes from teams who cannot field full squads will compete for individual awards only. Any squad composed of athletes from different divisions or categories will compete for individual and team awards, but not squad awards. 15 Trap Leagues Three trap leagues are available to all athletes and teams registered with the SCTP. For scores to qualify, the shoot must be created within the appropriate League 14 days prior to the event. The League season begins on September 1, All coaches and athletes must be registered in SHOT5 for the season prior to practice and competition. American Trap The course of fire for the league is American Trap (16 yard singles), and the governing rules are that of the national Scholastic Clay Target Program and the Amateur Trapshooting Association. The 2016 Competition Season will end May 30. The league will consist of 200 targets (4 scores of 50 targets), with scores from at least two different facilities. Athletes or teams may shoot as many targets as they wish, with the highest four scores from at least 2 different facilities being selected to determine each athletes League Score. All events must be between two or more registered SCTP teams and published on the SCTP Shot 5 system 14 days prior to the event. All scores for teams and individuals must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 3 days of the conclusion of the event. 17 Baxter Iowa Cup Award: Awarded to the top team based on the combined scores from their top 5 Senior Division athletes League Scores, State American Trap Singles Championship score, and State American Trap Handicap Championship scores. High All-Around Awards Senior Division athletes that compete in the State Championship Events for Doubles Trap (100 targets), Handicap Trap (100 Targets), and American Singles Trap (200 targets) are eligible for the High All-Around Awards. The High All-Around award will be given to the top 6 men and top 6 ladies. High All-Around Awards: Men Awards: 1st - 6th places Ladies Awards: 1st - 6th places Volunteer Safety Officers and Scorekeepers Scorekeepers will be provided for the state trap championship events. Each team will need to provide safety officials for each of their squads (2 for Rookie squads, 1 for Intermediates and Seniors). ISTA will provide workers responsible for loading the trap houses. Other Running water and flush toilets will not be available at the ISTA homegrounds. Portable toilets will be available on site. 18 State Sporting Clays Championships June 18 at Targets on the Move Ackley, IA The 2016 Scholastic Clay Target Program State Sporting Clays Championships will consist of 100 targets for rookie and intermediate athletes and 150 targets for senior and collegiate athletes all registered with the National Sporting Clays Association. Event Registration All participating teams must have registered their team, coach and athlete information on the SHOT 5 system prior to registering for this event. Event Registration All participating teams must have registered their team, coach and athlete information on the SHOT 5 system prior to registering for this event. 24 High Over-All Championship Team Any Senior Division athlete competing in all three 2016 American Discipline State Championship Events (American Trap 16 yd. Singles, Skeet, and Sporting Clays) will be eligible for membership on the High Over-All Team. Similar to the discipline specific All-State Awards, the High Over-All Team will be calculated by adding the shoot results from these three championship events for the athlete s total score out of a possible 550 targets (200 singles trap, 200 skeet, 150 sporting clays). Any ties for 1st - 6th place will be determined though shoot-offs at the last of these three events, which in 2016 will be the Skeet Championships. High Over-All Championship Awards: Men Awards (1st-6th place) Ladies Awards (1st-6th place) 2016 Fall All-Coaches Conference All Iowa head coaches, assistant coaches and adult volunteers who have registered with the Scholastic Clay Target Program in 2016 are invited to attend the annual all coaches meeting held each fall. Date and location yet to be determined. This annual meeting is an important part of program development for coaches involved with youth shooting sports and provides an opportunity for coaches to reflect on their successes and get the tools and information they need to set a positive path for continued growth in the future. Please look for future s about the date and location. Additional information and an agenda will be distributed to all registered program coaches and adult volunteers prior to the meeting. 24

Established in 2006, the Iowa Scholastic Clay Target Program, Inc. is committed to supporting organized youth, high school and colligate clay target shooting programs across the state of Iowa. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the primary functions of Iowa SCTP, Inc. are to raise money and provide funding and financial support to Iowa programs and their coaches. 26 General Information Parking: Parking is extremely limited and carpooling is encouraged. If you are bringing a team trailer, registration is required [see below]. Vendors: There will be food and merchandise vendors on grounds for the duration of the events. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor, please contact Lori Wickman at Practice traps: Designated practice traps will be open on Wednesday, June 8 from 3 to 7pm. Starting at 7am on Thursday and for the remainder of the event, practice will be allowed on 10 designated traps from 7 to 8 am and then on 2 designated traps for the remainder of the day [barring unforeseen circumstances]. Practice tickets are required and can be purchased in the registration building. Cost for practice is $6.00 per round of 25 targets or 12 pair for doubles. Ammunition will be available for purchase as well. Camping: 1. Registrations will be accepted starting March 15. Sites will be assigned after April 15. You will receive your site assignment on or about May An confirmation will be sent once the registration is received starting March 21. No confirmations will be mailed you must provide an address if you want to receive this confirmation. 3. If you camped at the ISTA home grounds last year, you will have first right of refusal to lease the same site(s) for Form must be returned by March 31 to guarantee your same site(s). 4. Team trailers are to be parked in their designated site only, regardless of where your team may be shooting. 2. While there is no fee for team trailer parking, registration is REQUIRED. 3. The sites will be large enough for the team trailer and tow vehicle and, depending on demand, space for a small canopy. You must ensure any vehicle(s), trailer, canopies, stakes and equipment remain within your marked area. 4. All bus parking will be off-site.
