1 CHAPTER 4: LESSON SPECIFICATIONS COURSE TITLE: RED STAR COURSE ENABLING OBJECTIVE AND TEACHING POINTS CTS NUMBER: A-CR-CCP-116/PC-001 TRAINING DETAILS DRILL: TIME Two 30 minute periods PERFORMANCE Execute squad in single file re-forming threes on the march. 2. CONDITIONS: a. Given words of command; and a squad. b. Denied assistance. 3. STANDARD The cadet will execute squad in single file reforming threes on the march in accordance with references : a. on the command "ON THE RIGHT (LEFT) RE-FORM THREES, FRONT RANK MARK-TIME"; b. the rank leading marks time; c. the remainder reforms three ranks and marks time; and d. on the command, "FORWARD" or "SQUAD HALT", the squad will act as previously taught. 4. TEACHING POINTS The teaching points for this drill movement are outlined in the Standard Statement. 6. METHOD/APPROACH: a. demonstration; and b. performance. 7. SUBSTANTIATION This enabling objective reassembles a single file into three ranks for further drill movement. 8. REFERENCES: a. 2 A-CR-CCP-121/PT-001 EO : EXECUTE SQUAD IN THREES FORMING SINGLE FILE FROM THE HALT On the command, "SINGLE FILE FROM THE LEFT (RIGHT), QUICK MARCH": a. the directing flank marches off in single file in quick time; and b. the remainder marks time. The leading cadet of the centre and remaining single file executes a left (right) incline and leads off in single file when the single file on his/her left (right) is clear. EO : EXECUTE SQUAD IN SINGLE FILE REFORMING THREES ON THE MARCH On the command, "ON THE RIGHT (LEFT) RE-FORM THREES FRONT RANK MARK TIME", given as the right foot is forward and on the ground: a. the rank leading marks time; and b. remainder reforms threes and marks time. On the command, "FOR-WARD" or "SQUAD HALT", the squad acts as previously taught. 1-24

Execute the movement by forming a single file from the left, then the right. II Place the squad in the proper formation. INTRODUCTION TIME: 1 Minute WHAT: WHY: WHERE: During this period of instruction the cadets will learn how to execute squad in single file reforming threes on the march. This movement is necessary to reform the squad into the original formation so they occupy less frontage or road space without halting and can then move as an organized group. This drill movement enables a squad/platoon company of cadets to change formation without halting such as moving from the mess hall or classroom to the barracks /3
5 BODY INSTR NOTES Note: This lesson may not require the full time allotted. Once the movement has been mastered, you may begin the next lesson, or review previous drill lessons. I STAGE 1: SQUAD IN SINGLE FILE REFORMING THREES ON THE MARCH 1. On the command ON THE RIGHT (LEFT) REFORM THREES, FRONT RANK MARK - TIME, the squad will execute the following: a. the rank leading marks time; and b. remainder reforms threes and marks time. TIME: 15 Minutes Instructor is unable to demonstrate. Explain the entire movement and then have the cadets execute it. 2. On the command FOR-WARD or SQUAD-HALT, the squad will act as previously taught. 3. Practice Complete Movement II CONFIRMATION STAGE 1 1. Practice reforming threes from a single file on the left. Correct faults as they occur. Change markers for additional practice. 2. Practice reforming threes from a single file on the right. PERFORMANCE CHECK TIME: 10 Minutes I Cadets will execute squad in single file reforming threes in the march without error. 1. Execute the movement on the left. 2. Execute the movement on the right. CONCLUSION TIME: 1 Minute SUMMARY: During this period of instruction the cadets learned how to reform in threes on the march. RE-MOTIVATE: A. Comment on student progress. B. This movement will be used to reform the squad into its original formation from a single file. 2/2
