Summer term 2017 This Half Term Howler is a newspaper written and produced by the Year 1 pupils of Warren Dell Primary School. Year 1 have been learning about Bright Lights Big City They learnt all about London and the Queen. This week they had a fantastic trip to Legoland! Look at the pictures below! They had a miniature London made completely out of Lego! The weather was lovely and they got to go on rides! They even passed a driving test when they were there! By Emma, Samuel-Lee and Bobby-Ray.

Topic: Sports/Being Healthy Our topic this half term has been about sports and eating fruit and vegetables to keep healthy said Yashi Jasmine said In our role play area we have a fruit and vegetable shop it has baskets and trolleys where we pretend to buy things Sienna told us In literacy we read the story of The Tortoise and the Hare. I loved the part when the hare took a nap against the tree and the tortoise won the race! For our school trip we went to Chessington sea life centre, I really liked seeing the sharks said Summer. By Mia, Brooke, Nathaniel and Finbar. After months and months of hard work year 6 took their tests. They were so hard said Kyle. But after all that we got to go on residential! They went to the YHA Holmsbury St Mary s youth hostel and stayed for a week. They had fun by learning how to light a fire using nothing but sticks, launched a rocket and hiked 8.4miles in the rain! Year 6 are now looking forward to having a bit of fun and getting ready for leavers. By Aiva, Lacie, Aarush and Paige

Year 2 s Topic was Castles. We interviewed Bansi, Stevie, Katie, Connor, Sam, Annabelle and Jay. They had a clay workshop and made and painted castles! Sam said In English we have been learning about castles, we got to use the laptops to type up our writing and facts we had discovered It was fun said Bansi They also had a Great fire of London workshop, they had to act out the Great fire of London! Annabelle said I found the workshop very interesting They are all excited for sports day: Connor and Bansi are red team like William and Annabelle is excited to be a part of the yellow team! Year 2 also enjoyed Science investigation afternoon We all swapped classes! We had to help nanny make a special umbrella! Jay liked learning in PSHE too. We have been learning about people who you can trust. Like your parents, teachers and friends By William, Shanaya, Alfie W, Glenda, Bobby Anthony, Rosie and Lacey Mai.

Year 1 interviewed Megan, Sean, Cameron and Gleno. Year 5 s topic was Anglo Saxons and Scream machine. They went on a trip to Chessington world of adventures. We went on lots of different rides said Megan. Sean said Woo, it was so much fun! They have also been learning to play the Steel Pans. Computing was one of their favourite subjects. They learnt about automating systems, coding, de-bugging and algorithms. Their favourite day was the Harry Potter workshop; Megan dressed up as a goblin! Miss Finch and Mr Speakes are their teachers. By Alfie Q, Ivy-Mae, Jade, and Vihaan.

Year 3 have been learning about Heroes and Villians. Their favourite thing this half term has been swimming on Friday afternoons. It s so much fun! said Lily Gorman. Some children are even going into the deep end soon! The children have had some interesting art sessions too. They ve have been learning how to draw in the style of Roald Dahl and Emma Dodd books. Apparently the Roald Dahl drawings are a lot harder because they look like they are 3D! Year 3 have also enjoyed problem solving in maths and learning about Islam in RE. They said they like a challenge! By Jessica, Madeline, Alexander and Unaiza. Year 4 s topic was called Blue Abyss. Year 1 interviewed Afsana, Alby, and Abby. Alby said Our topic is called blue abyss which is about the sea! We enjoyed this topic because we got to help make a display board on it and we included a picture of Bruce from Finding Nemo. We also got to draw sea life pictures in art. Abby said In science we have been learning about food chains, a food chain is when bigger animals that are called predators eat smaller animals called a prey. We are hoping to do pond dipping soon! Afsana told us about their school trip. We visited Chessington Sea life centre. I enjoyed this trip because we also got to go on different rides.' By Devon, Matei, Salma, and Evie.
