New Jersey Senior Citizens Information & Referral Service: From the desk of Pam Carpanini I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Pam Carpanini and I have been appointed the Director of the James F. McGuire Senior Center. I am a life-long resident of Northvale and have recently resigned from St. Anthony s Church in which I was employed for 10 years. During those years, I have encountered numerous people and have assisted them in many ways. I thoroughly enjoyed my years spent there but have always had the desire to pursue my passion further. That passion is to support the senior residents of our town as well as others. I am sensitive to the older generation and feel they deserve to be in a happy, fun, safe and welcoming environment. That brings me to where I am today. I look forward to bringing my talents and skills to this establishment. I am a dedicated, hardworking individual and would thoroughly enjoy bringing you what I have to offer. My goal is to continue with the phenomenal activities currently offered as well as introduce new and exciting ones for you to enjoy. My hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am 4:00 pm. Feel free to stop by my door is always open! Together we can make a difference!

2 A Heartfelt Thank You I would like to take this opportunity to thank Harold Friedeman and his Advisory Board Busy Bee committee, for the many years of coordinating various fundraisers for the McGuire Senior Center. They have worked effortlessly throughout the years raising funds to benefit our Center. The members of this committee has decided to disband. On behalf of the McGuire Center, thank you all for your hard work and dedication it has been greatly appreciated! If anyone would like to form a new committee, please see Pam Carpanini. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS FOR MEMBERS If you would like to participate, beginning January 2017, I would like to acknowledge and celebrate your birthday. Birthdays will be celebrated each month as a group (cake will be provided). The time will be determined at a later date. A sign-up sheet is available at the front desk. Looking forward to sharing your special day! Warm regards, Pam. Golden Age News From the Desk of... Augie Agostini Our August 23rd trip to Doolan s is sold out and payment is currently due. However, as some cancellations do occur due to nonpayment, illnesses or other reasons you can still place your name on the wait list. The September 22nd trip to the Pines Dinner Theater to see the Honky Tonk Angels, a comedy skit along with 30 country tunes, has available seats and payment is due at the August meeting. The October 20th play Squabbles at Hunterdon Hills still has some seats available sign up now if interested. As you know the McGuire Center has a new director, Pam Carpanini. I know Pam to be a very hard working and capable person who will be a significant asset to the center. I know we of the Golden Age Club will support her and the activities of the center. The center as well as our club has continued to grow and provide senior citizens in our surrounding towns with many activities well suited to the needs of the community. Important Notice: There will be NO CLASSES OR MEETINGS at the Center on JULY 12, 13, 14. (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) Bergen Co. Clerk John S. Hogan will present Around the County satellite office and Passport Outreach Services. Available will be: passport applications, photo cards, notary applications and business trade names, 10:00am to 2:00pm. Details to follow. 3 Are You a Member? Membership dues were due January 2016! It doesn t matter where you live you can be a member of the McGuire Senior Center! We have an open door policy that welcomes people from any town and any state. Yearly membership dues: $10.00 for Northvale residents, $12.00 for out of towners. A copy of the Busy Bee is then mailed monthly to your home if you are a member. The dues covers postage costs. We will stop mailing you the Busy Bees if you are not a member. We are a vital and vibrant center...join us!! Please bring a friend, this program is open to the public and will bring us to a closer understanding of memory loss. Movin with Music: Every Monday at 2:00...Nancy uses music and light weights, balls and other equipment to help people with balance, eye to eye and hand to eye coordination, all associated with good posture while having fun. $4.00 per class. Movies: Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 - a variety of films are shown for your enjoyment, no fee. Armchair Traveler: Visit exotic places while sitting in a comfortable chair...no passport required. Call at least 24 hours before to make an appointment. Do not assume you are on the pick-up list. 2. For Doctor or Dentist appointments- call to find out when the bus is available, then make your medical appointments. We will do our best to accommodate you and your needs. Please do not make multiple appointments in one day! Please be ready at least an hour before pickup! Time should be scheduled between 10:30 AM and 2 PM. and on Mon, Wed, or 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Friday. 3. Let us know Doctors name, address and phone #. 4. Please call if you need to cancel. 5. Supermarket days are: Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays only: no more than 7 shoppers for grocery shopping; first come, first serve.
