1 JUMPING NSW 2017 SHOWJUMPING SQUADS SELECTION CRITERIA STATE SQUADS The Jumping NSW Squads are an opportunity for athletes to be recognised for their talent and to assist riders in reaching their full potential. Athletes will be invited to participate in training and education programs to aid in the development of their equestrian skills. SELECTION CRITERIA A squad of up to 15 Senior riders (21 years & over) will be selected - JNSW Senior Squad A squad of up to 15 Young Riders (16 & under 21 years) will be selected - JNSW Young Rider Squad A squad of up to 15 Junior riders (under 18 years) will be selected - JNSW Junior Squad Applicants will be considered for selection based on meeting a number of criteria as outlined below: 1. Applicants already selected for the equivalent National Squad will have automatic inclusion 2. Performances achieved in the previous 12 months 3. Eligibility PERFORMANCE Performance achieved over the last 12 months at events listed below: Australian Championships State Championships World Cup Shows Summer Classic Royal Shows Titles (eg Country Titles) OTHER PERFORMANCES 1.40m and above for Senior Riders 1.30m and above for Young Riders 1.20m and above for Juniors Other relevant achievements or aims
2 ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for selection an athlete must: Be a current financial member of ENSW and JNSW Must have completed and returned the signed Nomination and Riders Agreement forms Be available to attend Squad program events. TERM OF THE SQUADS The tenure of the squads shall be for a period of 12 months (calendar year). It will be mandatory that all squad members will need to re-nominate at the end of this period. Nominations will be called for in March of each year, and the squad will be announced by the end of April. PROPOSED TIMELINE END OF MARCH 2017 EARLY APRIL 2017 Applications close and sent to selection panel Selection panel will meet and confirm their selections Successful applicants will be notified. PLEASE NOTE: CLOSING DATE 31st MARCH 2017 Jumping NSW is calling for nominations from Riders to be considered for selection in our 2017 Squads for Junior, Young Rider and Senior competitors. The successful squad members will receive invitations to attend coaching clinics and education programmes throughout the year. It is also an initiative of Jumping NSW to foster good sportsmanship and fellowship within our sport and we see these clinics as an excellent opportunity to foster a NSW team spirit. I agree that I am committing to attend coaching clinics and other programmes organised for the squads if I am selected, and agree to any associated costs that maybe incurred by my attendance. 5 2017 SQUADS Rider Agreement Conditions for Junior, Young Rider and Senior Squad Members This form must be returned with your Nomination Form. These conditions are to be acknowledged by riders by signing and must be returned with your nomination form. Riders who do not return the signed Rider Agreement form will not be eligible for selection to a squad. 1. I am a current financial member of Equestrian NSW and Jumping NSW and will ensure that my membership is current throughout my term on a Jumping NSW Squad. 2. As a member of a Jumping NSW Squad I acknowledge that I am a representative and an ambassador for both Equestrian NSW and Jumping NSW and any sponsors that the squad may have. I agree to conduct myself in a positive and professional manner at all times and I will endeavour to demonstrate good sportsmanship and team spirit at all times. 3. I will offer my assistance where possible to the organisers of any clinic or squad gatherings with set up and packing away of materials. 4. Riders 16 years and under must have adult supervision while attending any training event. Parents accept that they are still responsible at all times for the conduct of their children. 5. Riders are to conduct themselves is a professional manner at any squad event and display appropriate standards for the younger members of the group. No Underage consumption of alcohol will be permitted at any time, and there will be no consumption of alcohol by squad members of a legal age at any official evening event or guest speaker sessions. 6. It is the Riders (and parents for Junior and Young Riders) responsibility to be aware of the FEI and EA National Jumping Rules, Codes of Conduct and Horse Welfare Codes. 7. There may be times during your term on the Squad where the media or a sponsor may require information about you. As the Privacy Act does not allow us to divulge this information without your permission, we ask that you circle the relevant response to the following question. If no circle is recorded, your signature below indicates that your response is in the affirmative.
