Please know that performances could be added at the discretion of the director. NOTE: In order for our rehearsals to be productive, everyone must be present. Every individual s presence is essential to cleaning drill, sequences in a routine, etc. Any time you miss, the team suffers. Therefore, there will be no early dismissal from Band Camp or Wednesday practices unless approved by the Team Sponsor and Band Director. The only acceptable reasons for missing a practice or performance are: Illness - with a doctor s note Death in the family A college visit or work is NOT an excused absence. Because of the limited time available to produce a quality production, scheduled Band Front rehearsal time must be a priority over all other activities.
3 If you will be absent from a practice or a performance, you must notify the team sponsor and band director In advance - this includes athletic or school-related events. A written excuse must be turned into the Band Director to have on file. ( notification is sufficient) **If you are unable to attend a performance, failure to notify the Team Sponsor in advance will result in you being ineligible to perform in the next performance. Students with an excused absence from an after school rehearsal MUST perform their routine for the team sponsor demonstrating they know the routine correctly before they will be allowed to participate in that week s performance. If you need to miss rehearsal due to schedule conflicts with other school related activities or private lessons, the student must attend at least 50% of that week s band rehearsal, upon approval. Failure to stay 50% of the time will result in the student being ineligible to participate in that week s performance. All scheduling conflicts must be addressed prior to the start of the season. The student must work with the sponsor to find a mutually agreed upon solution for missing practice. The student is responsible for learning all routines and the drill, and must demonstrate this in rehearsal before the student is allowed to perform. III. Academics A. Academics are to be the first priority of members of the band front. We expect students to do their best in their classes, ask for help when needed, and complete all assigned work. B. If a member's grade drops below a C in a class, the band director and band front sponsor of that member will be notified by the school. The band front sponsor will then inform the student that they will have one week to improve their non passing grade to a C or higher. If the student fails to improve their grade by the following week, they will be ineligible to perform that week. Student will remain ineligible to perform until their grades are improved. C. Ineligible students still MUST attend the performance, however, they will not dress to perform. D. This is a school rule that we must enforce.
