In a late Thursday (January 11) posting on the West Holmes Wrestling Facebook page Knights middle school head coach Jeremy Dombrady wrote, Due to weather, the Middle School Wrestling Team will NOT be wrestling tomorrow at Waynedale.

4 Because of the impending weather, we had several teams canceling, coach Vaughn said in a text message. We decided as a group (athletic department and wrestling coaching staff) that there was not enough participation to continue with the tournament. HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY Knights In New Region With Move To Ontario For 2018 OHSAA State Team Duals Opener The West Holmes High School varsity wrestling team will compete in a different region and site when the Ohio High School Athletic Association DII State Team Duals Tournament starts Wednesday, January 24. The Knights have been moved to Region 9 and join 7 other teams in the opening round and quarterfinals round at Ontario High School in Ontario, Ohio. Teams in sub-region 9A include the Knights, Bellville Clear Fork, Caledonia River Valley, Galion, Lexington, Mansfield Senior, Ontario, and Shelby. The only school of the seven that the Knights have faced in recent years in a dual meet is Shelby who West Holmes knocked off in last season s opening round of the 2017 OHSAA DII Region 13A State Team Duals. Seeding and match ups for the opening round will be announced after January 16. The eight schools will wrestle in four opening round dual meets beginning at 5:00 with the winners squaring off in the quarterfinals 20 minutes after the conclusion of the final opening round dual meet. The quarterfinal winners then move to the January 31 regional semifinals at a site to be determined. Schools placed into sub-region 9B and wrestling at Medina Buckeye High School are Bay Village Bay, Fairview Park Fairview, Lodi Cloverleaf, Medina Buckeye, and Rocky River. The other half of sub-region 9B includes Akron St. Vincent St. Mary, Parma Padua Franciscan, Peninsula Woodridge, and Richfield Revere. They will compete at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.
