SCC/06 Jan 2013 Outing to Seng Kang Riverside Park on 5/12/12 Nature explorers, time to relax and feel free as a bird. Yahoo! Sharing 18/12/12 to 21/12/12 Junior Master Chef Bon appetite: The Kids had a blast making food fit for a King. The caregivers showed the students how to make these simple yet yummy recipes that we had discussed and created. Thumbs up to everyone! Youth Olympic Gallery Today, I went to the YOG museum and learnt a lot. I thought that the Olympic was just about games, but I was wrong. It actually about people wanting to promote peace and friendship so that the world would not have so much war. -Xiang Yang P5 Block 238 Hougang Ave 1 # Singapore Phone: Fax: scc@shenghong.org.sg Our Magazine Work Committee Members: Lim Xin Ni, Lim Xin Ying Joshua Law Athena and Chloe, Miss Ng Jodie Loke Caregivers 12 1

A Good Athlete A good athlete should be one with great sportsmanship. A good athlete must be able to believe in himself. But what makes him great? He doesn t play with his mind but with his heart. -Lee Le Ken P3 Miss Sharon and her team members. YOG The Youth Olympic was started to promote friendship among youths. Holding on to the hope that the next generation would bring the world into next era; an era of world peace which the Youth Olympic Games created! Unlike the Olympic Games, the athletes visited Singapore, learning about our heritage and culture. The Games were started not to bring fame to a particular country, but to bring the youth together to help bring the world to a era of peace. - LeTao P5 Madam Chashma and her team members. Mrs. Ong and her team members. 2 11

Captain Ball Chloe has made a gift box for herself. The world of Disney Castle making, story character drawing and painting, magical wands and crowns for the prince and kings. These were the things we did. Xin Ying was painting the drawing of Alice in Wonderland. Before going to play, Mrs Ong put on some videos about the rules of Captain Ball. After the videos, we went to the park. I was convinced that my group will lose because of me. I was appointed as the Captain. I was very afraid that I would get butter-fingers. My team was called Ali Baba. When the game started, Joshua, Yan Xiu and Xiang Yang were appointed as the strikers. They did a good job getting the ball and throwing it fast to each other. The problem was that Cyrus and Xiang Yang were too aggressive and committed many fouls. Joshua and Yan Xiu were more careful. Anu was blocking the other teams captains. Yi Wei was blocking me. I had a good laugh when Yi Wei tried to defend but the ball went backwards and was easy for me to take the ball. However, the second game was a different story. Andi from Biber team got off the Captain s chair and became a striker. In the end, Ali Baba won. During Captain s ball, teamwork and the strategic placing of players were most important. Every player must actively help the team, or the team will be flat. To win a match, the players must work together and listen to your teammates advice. No man is an island; together we can achieve! _- Le Tao P5 Captain Ball Yesterday, I played two rounds of captain ball with the upper primary, We were divided into two groups and we need to play against each other. My team won! I was a little aggressive and I kept breaking the rules just to win. My friends Cyrus did the same. I just felt sorry for the other team because we played rough and apologized to them. I realized that I do not need to cheat in this game. All I need is teamwork and strategies to win. Games are invented to build friendship and respect. It is always nice to make something beautiful and useful. Children were enjoying the process of creation. - Xiang Yang P5 10 3

20/12/12 Sentosa (Port of Lost Wonders) We were getting wet during the last outing of the year. What a memorable water play! Our SCC children had such great fun splashing, exploring fun on their own. They just can t wait for another water play outing next year. It is fun at Sentosa playground because there is cotton candy. The Holiday Activities Hi, Show them the Girls Power! Today I played fencing. It was my favourite game. I had a lot of fun. I was well prepared as I hit Yi Wei near the bottom. The second time, I did the launch and I shot Yi Wei. I also enjoyed watching my friends playing too! I played the Dart throwing which was my second favourite, I guess. I got a bulls-eye and my friend Kelvin he got two bulls-eye! I also played ping pong, captain ball, Frisbee, golf, relay, shot put, Javelin and finally bowling. Bowling was good but I kept my mother waiting so it did not turn out so well. This holiday, the activities were really fun! -Lennon Chow P3 2) 23 Nov 2012 Marine Life Conservation workshop A group of freshly graduated teachers from NIE had conducted a 4-hours session workshop on the topic of Conservation on Marine Life on the 23 rd Nov 2012 in our centre. The session included fun activities like origami, art and craft, quiz and even a real-life aquarium with marine creatures and plants- with the objectives of bringing about awareness on how an eco-system works and its effects on our daily lives. The SRJC volunteers came in and organised a session of fun filled activities for the students on 20th of November. 4 9

Year End Party The Art work displays of Disney Food, glorious and delicious food! Our helpful lady, Madam Lim. On then 14 December 2012, it was my centre s Year End Party. The theme was A colorful world of Disney. There were 2 skits. One of them was Cinderella, I took part in both the skits. In the skit, Cinderella, I was the narrator and in Snow White, I was the evil queen. Doing both the skits made me feel motivated and have confidence in myself. I also won many awards like best sportsmanship award, most enthusiastic learner, best character award and a surprise award! I also had a delicious dinner. It was pizza, fried rice, nuggets and many more.i had a great time. -Kabeerah P3 Year End Party The character that I like is Happy, Mr. Smith, and The Queen in the story of Snow White, I like the way they act. -Jacques Huang P1 Mrs. Sara Tan, Our SCC director was having a small talk with the students. Jessiah was one of the Best Reader in SCC. Shafiah had claimed the Best Acting Award. Le Ken had won the Best Buddy Award 8 5

Year End Party The Year End Party showcased the children s talents in performance for their parents. The children too showed our parents the product of our successful hard work and toil over the year. This year, the student care saw a group of new faces, winning the newly-made awards. While the YEP is forever a party, it brings fond memories to the parents and children, each party leaving a deep impression on each of these young minds. -Lee LeTao P5 Xin Ni and Jodie, our SCC emcees of that night. The Cinderella skit that had brought laugher from the audience. Year End Party On the day of our Year End Party, I acted as the prince for Snow White. I was afraid that I would make a mistake but thankfully I didn t. I enjoyed the wide spread of dinner. I also recorded the whole event of the prize ceremony. I did not know I would win a prize or I would have recorded it and posted it on Face book or YouTube! I enjoyed the quiz even though I did not get any treat but most importantly I had a fun. Before the party ended,i got a goodie bag. When I looked inside of the bag, and I was pleasantly surprised. I went home feeling very light-hearted. Lennon Chow P3 One of Our paintings The Disney Princesses. Welcoming and Opening dance by the Tinker Bells The Singing item If We Can Hold On Together.
