6 Tournament: Prop Storage Designated areas near competition sites. Drop-off 1 1/2 to 2 hours prior to scheduled Long Term performance; Friday evening drop-off will be available. Parents can help move props into prop storage and to pre-staging. Parents not allowed to stay in prop storage. Prop storage/repair only; no rehearsals. Tournament officials will be monitoring for outside assistance. Team will be summoned 30 minutes prior to scheduled Long Term time.

7 Tournament: Pre-Staging Area Team entrance to competition sites. Parents can assist with prop transfer from prop storage to pre-staging areas. Team member presents paperwork to pre-staging judge. Team members should be prepared to make adjustments to paperwork, if required. Pre-Staging Judges responsibility: Ensure paperwork is in order. Ensure performance is in compliance with safety guidelines. Ensure kids are relaxed and having fun!

8 Tournament: Team Paperwork Refer to Section H of your detailed problem criteria. All teams must provide 4 copies of Style form, 1 cost form, 1 outside assistance form and team clarifications. Teams in Problem 3 must also present a copy of its documentation which lists the moral of the selected fable represented in their problem solution. (Section B.11 of the detailed problem criteria.) Teams in Primary, and Problems 1, 2, 3 and 5 should present 4 copies of the problem specific required list defined in Section B of the detailed problem criteria. No penalty if this is not provided; however, without it, judges may miss key scored elements of the performance.

9 Tournament: Team Items Refer to Section H of your detailed problem criteria. Teams should bring the following items: Extension cords and, if necessary, outlet adapters for the use of electrical power. Access to electric outlets will be available at each problem site. Clean up materials such as broom and dustpan, small handheld battery-powered vacuum, paper towels, absorbent cloth, etc. Repair kits with materials to make last minute repairs should items be damaged during transport, or if items used in the team problem solution need to be assembled after drop-off.

10 Tournament: Post-Performance Performance is not over until the judges have completed talking with the students about their problem solution. Parents can assist with prop transfer from competition site and out of school. Do not return props to prop storage unless waiting for transportation. Prop Storage areas must be clear of all items before Award Ceremony starts.

11 Tournament: LT/Style Scores Coaches only may pick up/review team score with Head Judge minutes after the performance. Coaches have 30 minutes after review to initiate a grievance (see page 6 of tournament handbook). Unresolved grievances on objective scoring and rules infractions are referred to Problem Captains. If still unresolved, grievance can escalate to a Tribunal. Tribunal request form would be provided by the PC; team must complete and return within 30 minutes. Subjective scores are not eligible for Tribunal. Audio/video recordings are not allowed as evidence.

12 Tournament: Spontaneous Team should report to Spontaneous at least 20 minutes prior to scheduled start time. Check-in at entrance to library, then advance inside to the Holding Room area. One coach may accompany team and wait in the Holding Room while their teams compete. Spontaneous scores will not be available until final scores are posted on the DELCAPS website (after the Awards Ceremony, est. 4:30p). Spontaneous is not eligible for Grievance.

13 Tournament: Primary Designated B-Wing classrooms. Parents may assist with prop transfer into the designated prop storage area and to the entrance to the long-term site. Non-competitive; all students receive medals after completing Spontaneous. Spontaneous immediately follows Long Term in adjacent room; all team members participate in Spontaneous. One coach will be allowed in the Spontaneous Room with the team; no parents allowed in Spontaneous.

14 Tournament: Spectators Competition/school maps and programs will be available at the information table in the Commons area. Please inform guests of the problem name and number and school name. This allows our volunteers to direct them to the appropriate competition site. Spectators are not allowed to enter a competition site once a performance begins unless directed to do so by the volunteer managing that site. Seating may not always be available for all spectators. Preference will be given to family members first. Problem captains responsible for the smooth operation of the competition site may ask spectators to clear the room in between team performances for this consideration. Silence is required near all performance areas.

15 Tournament: Parking Parking on-site is insufficient for all participants, officials and spectators. Teams will be limited to 1 parking pass for on-site parking for vehicle used for transporting props. Open parking after 11 a.m. Prop drop-off will be available the night before (6p-9p). Officials will park on-site; parking passes to be distributed. Handicapped parking will be available on-site. Satellite parking will be available at the Pike Creek Shopping Center; shuttle buses will run in 15-minute intervals.

21 Competition Schedule Schedule will be posted on-line at as soon as it is deemed final. Special considerations that were included with team registrations or shared via notification will be factored into the competition schedule. Any last minute changes should be communicated via and as soon as possible and will be considered on a case-bycase basis. Requests should be limited to significant conflicts with other school events only. Changes to performance sites may occur based on unexpected changes in facility space availability.

30 Advancement to State Finals Under the two region format and splitting Division 1 into a separate regional event, the initial expectation is the Top 3 teams in each problem bracket will advance. This assumes that the number of teams participating in each problem across each region would be somewhat equivalent. Adjustments are made to the advancement numbers to reflect any disparity in team participation between regions. Capacity limitations at the State Finals venue is also a factor in determining advancement numbers. General advancement guidelines for <4 teams, case-by-case evaluation 4-12 teams, top 3 advance (some case-by-case) teams, top 4 advance >15 teams, case-by-case depending on # judging teams

32 Special Awards Ranatra Fusca highest award in Odyssey of the Mind Presented to teams or individuals who exhibit exceptional creativity. Nominations are made only by problem judges; winners determined by the DELCAPS Awards Committee. Winners automatically advance to next level of competition regardless of final placement in the competition based on score. OMER Award named for the Odyssey of the Mind mascot Recognizes individuals or teams who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, exemplary behavior, or exceptional talent. Recipients may be coaches, team members, parents, or tournament officials. Nominations can be submitted by anyone; winners determined by the DELCAPS Awards Committee.

33 Awards Ceremony High School Gym est. 5:30p start Medals and trophies will be awarded to 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place finishing teams. Other teams advancing from specified brackets will be Honorable Mentions with no awards outside of advancement to State Finals. Special Awards OMER Award winners will receive medals Ranatra Fusca winners will receive medals and automatically advance to State Finals Honorable mentions, Special Awards, 3 rd, 2 nd and 1 st place by problem Teams that tie for any place advancing to State Finals also will advance

34 Clarifications General Clarifications Available on-line at Can be issued at any time by CCI / International PCs If issued two weeks prior to first regional, will not be enforced at any regional, but team must adhere to any new general clarification at State Finals. Team Specific Clarifications Submitted on-line at Specific to any element of team solution and remains confidential. Deadline for submissions Feb. 15

35 Participation Certificates On-line, self-service participation certificate generator If names are misspelled, coach or coordinator will need to contact and provide Membership #, Problem, Division and correct spelling of name. Student additions/deletions must be made by Feb. 15. Certificates are generated in.pdf format and are automatically formatted for printing.

36 Pin Trading 2 pin towels with a collage of assorted state and international pins will be displayed at each regional tournament for raffle at $1.00 per ticket A small scale pin trading area will be tested at the Ocean Div2/Div3 tournament to show some of the newer teams what pin trading is about This will prepare some of the newer teams for World Finals if they advance so they understand the concept and the importance of purchasing pins The rules will be posted and strictly enforced with the same standards as WF guidelines
