1 Student news... straight from the source! Fairy Tales Inside This Issue Mya You can t catch me, I m the gingerbread man! On May 20 th, the Cycle 1 and 2 students performed plays and songs on different fairy tales. There were two shows, one in the morning for all of the students in the school, and one in the afternoon for the parents. The gym was full for both shows. The students dressed up in their beautiful clothes. There were some students wearing costumes like a gingerbread man costume, a bear costume, and a fox costume. Someone was even a horse. They were all so lovely, no matter what they wore. The Gingerbread Man play was the opening act. This play was a lovely musical with Mme Annie, Mme Francine, Mme Claire, Ms. Seath, and Ms. Linda s classes singing. There were beautiful decorations behind the stage and colourful flowers painted on a big paper on the wall. The story was about how the elves helped the shoemaker during the night to make shoes so that he could make money by selling them. The singers, actors, and even the flute players were all so amazing. They never messed up and even made people in the audience laugh. The elves were really funny making the shoes while the shoemaker was sleeping in his room. They had little hats The elves stayed hidden until it was time to come out at night and make the shoes. These actors were great in the play The Elves and the Shoemaker. on and they really looked like real elves when the shoemaker s wife made them little jackets. Mrs. Bonneville, our music teacher, prepared this wonderful play. She also taught the students how to sing along to the music that she was playing on her piano and to the instruments that some students were playing. Thank you Mrs. Bonneville for organizing this spectacular show.

2 What an Experience! Anthony and William The handball tournament was held at Greenfield Park International School on April 28 th. The boys played 4 games and won 3. Each game was close at the beginning, and even when the boys were behind, they didn t give up and continued shooting, which led them to the finals! The two last games were very rough, but the boys still handled it and played well. They tried their best in the final game, and even though they were behind, they still fought to try to catch u The boys came in second place, but they were still happy and not discouraged about it because they played their best. Volunteer Breakfast Alice and Megan On June 15 th, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., parents who volunteered for sports, activities, and/or field trips gathered at our school for a delicious breakfast. We spied some homemade pastries, fresh fruit, creamy cheese and refreshing drinks. The place was decorated with welcoming posters made by students to thank them for their generosity. Throughout the event, the parents had friendly conversations with others and enjoyed their feast made and brought especially for them. Mr. Hunter, the school principal, thanked the volunteers, and Mme Francine s class sang a song to entertain them. What a nice way to start off their day! Once again, thank you to our volunteers. End of Year Events A Close Victory! Beatrice, Sienna, and Sofia Dribble, pass, shoot! This year, our girls handball team brought home yet another banner! The tournament was held at St-Jude School on April 27 th. After winning all 4 games that day, the girls headed back to school, exhausted but happy knowing they would be going to the finals!! About a week after the tournament, the team headed to William Latter School on the 5 th of May, this time after school. They were about to compete for the banner. The girls felt a rush of nerves as they walked into the building, but of course Mrs. Danielle reassured them by telling them that they were already winners in her mind. The girls headed into the game confident and excited, but not realizing the challenges Celebrating with their banner! that were ahead. Through blood, sweat, and tears, they managed yet another victory! The girls kept working until the last second of the game. It finished with a nail-biting score of The John Adam team claimed victory and accepted their ribbons and banner with pride. Hopefully next year s students will have the same team experiences as the girls did this year. Having a little fun before the game. 2

3 Just JAM! JAM! Just Track and Field Noémie pits for the long jump and triple jump events. Mats were also placed for high jumping and a special section was reserved for softball throws. Alongside the gate, the team had put up a tent to protect their bags if it rained and to provide shade. These students were having a little fun between the events. Jump, sprint, throw! On June 10th, the top two boys and girls in each track and field event and in each category (A, B, and C) went to Heritage to participate in this exciting tournament. The track and field team hopped on the bus at 8:15 a.m. and came back around 5:30 m. Softball throw, high jump, long jump, triple jump, 150 m run, 800 m run, 80 m sprint, and the 4 x 100 m relay race were the eight activities. Most students participated in more than two activities. During the day, students went to their activity at all different times, depending on their category. The event was held in a huge field behind Heritage. After an activity was finished, the athletes could go to a white tent to see the results. If they were in the top six, they won a ribbon. The last activity was the 4 x 100 m relay race because it was one of the longest activities. The four best runners in their age group could participate in the event. Once all the activities were finished, there was an award ceremony to give the banners to the best schools in each category. Sadly, the team couldn t stay because they had to go back to school, but Mrs. Danielle got the results by mail. The C Boys and the B Girls won a banner! The students had lots of fun at the event and can t wait to try out for the team next year! 3

4 What Happened In 4 Ms. Doreen s Class Our favourite activity this year was going to the Ecomuseum. Mme Claire aller au zoo Ecomuseum. Ms. Seath s Class Our favourite activity this year was when we made clay sculptures. Mrs. Gibson s Class Our favourite activities this year were going for a hike on Mont St. Hilaire and skating. Beatrice, Jade, Mya, Vicky, and Zachary Ms. Linda s Class The best thing about this year was going to the Ecomuseum and performing in The Gingerbread Man play. Our favourite activity this year was the mini soccer tournament. Ms. Burton s Class The best thing about this year was Camp P Tit Bonheur. Mme Caroline le camp P Tit Bonheur.

5 Megan The John Adam students are having some end of year fun with the activities organized for them. There are field trips, graduation ceremonies, a fun day, and new things for everyone to enjoy. The Cycle 2 students had a blast enjoying some jungle fun at Parc Safari. They went on Friday, June 12 th. Even though it rained, they still had fun. They saw giraffes, lions, tigers, and monkeys too! All of the Cycle 3 students had an amazing field trip to LaRonde! Students were able to try all of the rides and some played the carnival games. The trip to LaRonde was held on June 18 th. June Events running skills, and some targets painted on the walls so that we can safely throw some snowballs in the winter. All of the students are enjoying the new activities in the school yard. When they get a chance, the kids love to run around the track. In other news, our new school uniforms arrived and our Track and Field Team had the chance to try them out at the competition. Everyone was very excited to wear them! 5 Kindergarten and Cycle 1 is ecstatic about their field trip on June 22 nd. They ll be having a lively experience at Funtropolis! They will adventure through the laser maze in the dark and having a ball in the plastic ball fun zone. Each student will certainly have an unforgettable experience. These student were very excited and proud to show off the new uniforms. The students are happy to have more Four Square games to play. Our school yard has improved thanks to some new recess activities. We have new games painted on the pavement like Four Square games, a soccer or hockey area, a track to practice our Finally, on the last day of school, the teachers are organizing the end of year Fun Day. This is allowing all students, even Grade 6, to have fun in the sun with each other, because in the past, the Grade 6 students were in charge of different stations for Fun Day.
