AASCF NATIONAL REBATE SCHEME - YOU SUPPORT US, WE SUPPORT YOU! As you all know our motto is "you support us, so we will support you" We are here to assist you grow your program and therefore the sport of All Star Cheer & Dance. One of the many AASCF s initiatives in our mains states is that we refund back a 5% rebate from your total 2018 entry fees after Nationals to the teams that competed at 4 of the below 6 series competitions AASCF States & AASCF Nationals are compulsory 1/ Winterfest OR Spring carnival 2/ All Star Battle (Cheer or Dance) 3/ AASCF States 4/ AASCF Nationals *NEW FOR 2018 FOR SA & WA we will now be offering rebates for 3 championships as AASCF now has 2 x championships in South Australia and Western Australia, we will now offer the 5% rebate for all teams competing in both of AASCF s Championships in their State being either SA or WA, and AASCF Nationals. i.e. 1/ Winterfest (SA) OR All-Star Battle (WA) 2/ AASCF States 3/ AASCF Nationals. So how does this work? Let s say some of your teams spend combined e.g. $15, with us during the 2018 competition season on competition entry fees and they competed at 4 (3 in SA & WA) of our competition series (2 of the 4 must be States and Nationals) and of course you paid your entry fees on time by the due dates; after Nationals, we will reward your club back e.g. $750.00, which is 5% of what you spend with us the team. (Please note this does not include Stunt or Dance Doubles, only Cheer & Dance teams); the more teams at your club that compete at all the designated championships, the more money will be returned to your club at the end of the season. This money would then be very useful to get your club through the slow Christmas and school holiday break, possibly helping with things like gym/studio lease, power bills, or even new equipment, or just a well-deserved break. If any of your programs teams qualify, we require that you complete our rebate form and send it back to us by December 4 th to receive your rebate. Please realise the teams need to be consistent, same level, same team name, same age group, majority of the same athlete names, from championship to championship and it does not include Partner Stunt, Groups Stunt and Dance Doubles. AGE ELIGIBILITY VIOLATIONS Any team proven to be in violation of the age restrictions will be automatically disqualified from the event. Any challenges (corroborated with evidence) submitted by another participating Gym Owner/Program within 48 hours of the event will be reviewed and considered. The age of the competitor must be in the year of the competition. I.e. If you are entering in Tiny in 2018 your athletes must be 6 years or younger in the year of competition being 2018, if they turn 7 it must be after 31st December If you enter in Open in 2018, 14 years & over, they must turn 14 by 31st December in the year of competition being 2018, they cannot turn 14 after the 31st December In the instance that a team submits falsified rosters, inaccurate birthdates, or competes with athletes who are age ineligible, the following steps will be taken: 1. The team found in violation will be disqualified from the competition. All awards, trophies, banners associated with that team will be returned. 2. At all AASCF events for the remainder of the season, every team from the program found in violation must provide government issued picture ID's (state ID card, passport, etc.) for ALL athletes. These ID cards will be checked inside, or near, the warm up room by official personnel. AASCF takes the legitimacy and fairness of our sport very seriously. As Coaches, Parents, and Event Producers, we all have a responsibility to young people. Remember, we aren't just training cheerleaders and dancers to win titles. We are reinforcing core values that will shape and mold our next generation of leaders. pg. 10

CHEER DIVISION SPLITS SMALL / LARGE TEAM SIZES TO EX SMALL CHEER GYM / SMALL CHEER GYM / LARGE CHEER GYM Small/Large team size splits occur when there are 9 or more teams in a section with at least 3 teams left after the split in either Small or Large. If after splitting Cheer divisions into Small and Large, there are 9 or more teams in the Small or Large division, then event producers may split that division further by squad size or into Small/Large Cheer Gym divisions (Now called Division 2 & 1). If there are 2 or less Gyms in a division, it will not be split into Small and Large Gym. If splitting into a Small Cheer Gym division (Division 2), then the definition of a Division 2 listed below must be followed. If it is not possible to split into Small and Large team sizes, because there is only two Large teams and multiple Small teams (or vice versa), then event producers may split a division using the above Small/Large Cheer Gym (divisions 2 & 1) guidelines if the division has 9 or more teams. No division may be subdivided further from the Small and Large if it means that only 2 teams will be left in a division. A Small Cheer Gym (Division 2) is defined as having one physical address for its location and has 125 or less athletes registered in its competitive cheer program at the time of competition. Exhibition teams, crossover athletes, special needs teams and dance teams do not count toward the 125 or less athletes. It is up to the event producer s discretion as to how to monitor this. If your Gym is part of a Large Gym, sharing either uniforms, logo, coaches, athletes etc. you would not be considered a Small Gym. Also as a Small Gym you can chose to compete up into the Large Gym Divisions, but must stay in this division until the season is completed. Divisions that are designated as Small Cheer Gym must use the definition of a (Division 2) listed above. As we are still a developing market, AASCF will also continue to have the 75 or less athlete split where possible and will call it Extra Small Cheer Gym (Division 3). Division 3 is defined as having one physical address for its location and has 75 or less athletes registered in its competitive cheer program at the time of competition. Exhibition teams, crossover athletes, special needs teams and dance teams do not count toward the 75 or less athletes. It is up to the event producer s discretion as to how to monitor this. The AASCF Gym size split is as per below: 1. Extra Small Gym 75 athletes or less actively competing during season 2. Small Gym 76 to 125 athletes actively competing during season 3. Large Gym 126 athletes or more actively competing during season The hierarchy process will be as per below, each time we hit 9 teams in a section: 1. Small team/large team split 2. Division 1 /Division 2 split (small/large Gym split) 3. Division 2 / Division 3 split (small/ex small Gym split) 4. Extra small team split Important note once you have established your gym size, you cannot move down to a smaller gym size during the season (unless AASCF determines that a club has calculated their gym size incorrectly), but you can move up to a larger Gym size. Once you move up to a larger size you cannot move back down to a smaller size again for the rest of the season. If there are 2 or less Gyms in a division, it will not be split into Small and Large Gym. pg. 11

AGE CROSSOVER SUGGESTION We would like to suggest Cheer and Dance teams to limit age group cross-overs to only one age group. The crossovers from Cheer, to Dance, to multiple styles, age groups and levels need refining for our sport to continue to grow healthily, and the above suggestion will assist with this. It will help the athletes/teams specialise and refine their skills, it s much better for the children socially, and it will make athletes lives much easier at Championships as they won t be hit with as many tight crossovers. Please understand we will not be able to assist with some of your cross overs at our championships if you choose to have athletes in a large spread of age groups. If any of your athletes must cross into 2 different age groups, the below is what we suggest is best for all: Tiny can only cross to mini Mini can cross to either tiny or youth Youth can cross to either mini or junior Junior can cross to either youth or senior Senior can cross to either junior or open Open can only cross to senior pg. 12

IMPORTANT POINTS TO KNOW ABOUT STUNT DIVISIONS (CHEER ONLY) PARTNER AND GROUP STUNT: please refer to chart below Group Stunt only has 4 age groups - 14yrs & U, 14yrs & O, 10 18yrs (12-18yrs level 5), 17yrs & O level 6 only. Partner Stunt has 2 age groups - 14yrs & O Open, 17yrs&over level 6 only. Please note the 10 18yrs Senior age group can only do assisted Partner Stunt. There are no level crossover rule restrictions in stunt apart from you can only compete in 2 stunt routines per competition. Athletes are not permitted to compete in more than 2 stunt routines; 1 Partner Stunt & 1 Group Stunt or 2 x Group Stunt routines. There is no level 1 option for Open Age - Group and Partner Stunt. ASSISTED PARTNER STUNT rules are only 3 athletes permitted in the stunt group and following the USASF stunt rules. Basket tosses, tumbling, dance, jumps are not on the score card for stunt you are permitted to do them but are not necessary and do not add to your score; realize they are subject to deductions and legalities. Only the top 3 in each State from the AASCF State series in each level and category of Partner and Group Stunt Teams go through to Nationals, and you can only qualify in your own State. These top 3 teams must score above 75 points before deductions in order to qualify; so, in other words the 60 second Partner and Group Stunt Teams must meet 75 points and finish top 3 at the AASCF States to qualify for Nationals. Only 51% and above of your Partner and Group Stunt Nationals Qualifiers can be replaced. i.e. a partner stunt Nationals Qualifier has only 2 athletes, as such no one can be replaced, group stunt with 4 athletes can only replace 1 athlete for Nationals and groups stunts with 5 athletes can only replace 2 athletes for Nationals. In the instance where there are no competitors in your stunt section at your State Championship, you will need to score above 75% before deductions to qualify for Nationals. States that do not have an AASCF State Championship will need to send stunt routines in via video or similar, to be judged, and will need to score 75% and top 3 in your state to qualify. At the end of the State series, the Event Producer has the right to bring in partner and group stunts that did not qualify top 3 in the situation where we have not reached our maximum quota of teams for Nationals. Only clubs entered the AASCF Championships may enter in the Partner & Group Stunt Competitions. (Exception being unless they are from a State that does not have AASCF Championship, Northern Territory, as well as teams from Far Northern Queensland and Far North-Western Australia.) 14 AASCF ALL STAR CHEER CROSSOVERS AASCF has a 1 level crossover and 2 cheer routine option for all cheerleading. *CHEER - 1 level crossover: Novice & 1 3 & 4 1 & 2 4 & 5R 2 & 3 & & 5 5 & 6 Adult / Open 1 & 2 Crossovers from level 5 to level 5 is not permitted (this include restricted level 5). Crossovers of participants from other gyms in level 5 or level 6 is also not permitted. Crossovers between lower levels and age groups is permitted at your own risk but only a 1 level variant maximum; championship will not change the running order for crossovers and will not wait for athletes. *NEW - AASCF will be allowing a 3 rd routine and 2 level crossover option for a maximum of 20% of the team, for emergencies, i.e. injury or athlete leaving with in the 3 weeks before a competition. e.g. if your club has senior level 3, 4 & 5 squads with athletes crossing over between the three, all complying with the 1 level crossover rule, and 3 weeks before the competition day your level 3 squad of 15 athletes loses an athlete and has 2 injuries, thus 3 out of 15 athletes (20%) will no longer be competing. You will be able to pull in a maximum 3 of your athletes (20%) to cover these athletes as their 3 rd routine and a 2-level crossover to get you through the competition. Prior athletes of higher levels must follow the 1 level crossover rule for a 9-month period from when they last competed. If an athlete does drop down below this due to injury, your club will need to prove this to AASCF via a medical certificate, and if athlete is ready to move back up to their usual level, athlete must immediately move back to the 1 level crossover. Brand new athletes to the sport with no prior Cheerleading history with current extensive training in other sports, such as dance, gymnastics, callisthenics etc., may progress much quicker than most. In this instance, we encourage new athletes to start in a low level to learn the basics, but understand they may climb the levels quite quickly. We will waive this 9-month period rule to brand new athletes with current extensive training with in our sport, but coaches must understand, each time the athlete moves up a level they still MUST stay within the 1 level crossover. Team/squad routine athlete cross overs between 2 different all-star clubs is not permitted, however athlete crossovers are permitted between All Star & Scholastic/University. To clarify further, if you cheer in a team with an All Star club, you cannot cheer with another team from another All Star club but you can cheer in a scholastic team in the Scholastic divisions and you can only compete with one Scholastic club. Please also note that your entry fees from your all-star club are separate from your scholastic club. However, you can dance in a team from one All Star club and cheer in a team from another All Star club; please remember in this situation you will be paying 2 separate entry fees for each club. AASCF ALL STAR DANCE CROSSOVERS Dancers may be in as many routines as they wish, but CANNOT be in more than 2 age groups, or more than 2 teams of the same style (these must be separate divisions). Understand, event providers cannot cater for crossovers of athletes in extreme amounts of routines. Dancers competing in Dance Doubles CANNOT be in more than 3 routines or more than 1 routine of each style. Dancers in the Novice divisions cannot cross over with the regular divisions of the same style. i.e. if an athlete competes in Novice Jazz they cannot compete in a regular Jazz division but can compete in the regular Pom, Hip Hop and Lyrical/Contemporary divisions. If a dancer is in a team with an All Star club, they cannot dance with another team from another All Star club, but can dance in a scholastic team in the Scholastic divisions, or Premier University dance teams (but not Open University dance teams). However, they can dance in a team from one All Star club and cheer in a team from another All Star club; please remember in this situation athlete will be paying 2 separate entry fees for each club. pg. 14

UNIVERSITY TEAMS Premier University Cheer teams comprise of full 100% current University athletes (Uni Grand Champion Banners will be given). There will no longer be Open University Cheer Divisions. Any universities still wanting to have Open Cheer Teams may do so but they will follow the All Star rules and regulations completely and will compete in the All Star Divisions. Please understand, any Cheerleaders that choose to compete in an Open Team at a University Cheer program cannot compete in an All Star cheer program; crossovers from University Premier Teams and All Star Teams are permitted, but University Open teams to All Star Teams are not permitted. Premier University Dance teams comprise of full 100% current University athletes (Uni Grand Champion Banners will be given). Open University Dance teams comprise of a mixture of current students, alumni and outside athletes. This section will not be in the running for Uni Grand Champion. All team members must be 17yrs+. If they are any younger, they must be a current registered University student. AASCF has the right to combine University Open Dance teams into the All Star divisions when there are no other Open University Dance teams. Please understand, any Dancers that choose to compete in an Open Team at a University Dance program cannot compete in an all-star Dance program; cross overs from University Premier Teams and All Star Teams are permitted, but University Open teams to All Star Teams are not permitted. All teams competing in the AASCF University Premier sections will need to present their current University Student Card ID number on their official entry form and will be checked by the University officials. All University Cheer & Dance routines must follow the AASCF University guidelines, rules and regulations within the AASCF University Information and Registration Package. University athletes CANNOT compete twice in the same division and compete in 2 separate cheer teams at own risk of close crossovers at championships. 16 CHEER NOVICE DIVISION BASIC GUIDELINES NOVICE CHEER CATEGORY Novice Cheer: is offered in Cheer level 1 only, in all ages. Novice Cheer time limit is 2:30 minutes. *Novice Cheer sections will be divided where possible into Divisions 1, 2 & 3, if there are 3 or more teams in each section and 9 or more teams in the division. Novice is open for beginner All Star Cheer teams at Level 1 only (apart from OPEN age as we now have the NEW Adult Division), may that be brand new athletes/teams or just beginner athletes/teams within an established program; a gentle way of easing new coaches and beginner athletes into our sport and understanding how it all works. The idea of Novice Cheer is for the athletes to perfect the very basic skills on the competition floor before attempting harder skills. Cheer Level 1 Novice team athletes are strictly not permitted to compete in any other cheer team Level 2 or above. However, they are permitted to crossover into a level 1 team. Novice Cheer is not compulsory for new teams but an option. If your team competed in All Star during the season, you cannot move into Novice for Nationals (unless recommended by the organisers via judging panel at States). Novice Cheer teams will not have points deducted (unless extreme circumstance of putting athletes at risk of injury or unfixed warned skills from prior Championships); they will have warnings to initiate them into the rules of our sport. Nevertheless, any teams seen to be intentionally breaking the Novice RULES by repeat offending will be deducted with the full legality points for each illegal skill performed. The teams in the NOVICE Cheer sections will not be included in any Highest Scoring or Grand Champion awards. Novice also pays a slightly cheaper entry fee. NOVICE CHEER RULES Novice Cheer teams must follow the current IASF/USASF Cheer Level 1 Rules but with the following amendments: Standing/Running Tumbling A. Front and back walkovers may not be connected to any other tumbling skill. Series Walkovers are not allowed. Clarification: Front Walkover x2 or Cartwheel Back Walkover are not allowed unless the athlete shows a definite and clear stop between the skills. A clear stop would be at least 4 counts before attempting the skill again. Stunts A. All stunts must be performed by a minimum of 3 athletes. Example: 1 Top Person + 1 Base + 1 Spotter or 1 Top Person + 2 Bases. Exception 1: 2 Top Persons + 1 Base is not allowed. Exception 2: A stunt where the Top Person starts and ends on performing surface and is only supported at the waist does not require a minimum number of athletes. B. Prep level stunts where the Flyer is in an upright position must be performed by a minimum of 2 bases and 1 spotter. Clarification: Single base hands are not allowed. (Note: This includes what is sometimes referred to as dual base hands) C. Braced prep level single leg stunts are not allowed. Exception: See Pyramids B Pyramids A. Two leg extended stunts: 1. Top persons in a two-leg extended stunt must be braced by both arms with a hand-arm connection. 2. Both hands of the top person must be connected to a separate hand of the bracer(s). Example: An extended two leg stunt braced by only 1 person is legal in the Novice division if both hands of the top person are connected to a separate hand of the brace. 3. The connection must be made at or below prep level. 4. Prep level bracers must have both feet in bases hands. B. Prep level single leg stunts: 1. Must be braced by at least 2 people at prep level or below with hand-arm connection only. 2. If a person bracing the top person is standing on the performance surface, the bracer must be a separate person not involved with basing or spotting. 3. The connection must be made prior to initiating the single leg prep level stunt. Prep level bracers must have both feet in bases hands. Exception: Prep level bracers do not have to have both feet in the bases hands if they are in a shoulder sit, flat back, straddle lift or shoulder stand. pg. 16

DANCE NOVICE DIVISION BASIC GUIDELINES NOVICE DANCE CATEGORY Novice: is offered in Pom, Jazz, Hip Hop and now Lyrical/Contemporary, in all ages. Novice Dance time limit is 2:30 minutes. Novice is open for beginner All Star Dance teams; may that be brand new teams or just beginner teams within an established program; a gentle way of easing new coaches and beginner athletes into our sport and understanding how it all works. The idea of Novice Dance is for athletes to perfect the very basic dance skills on the competition floor before attempting harder skills. We encourage only dance related skills in this category, focusing on the appropriate style of Dance as well as the associated basic skills required for the style of Dance. Please avoid using athlete s prior skills from other sports in Novice as this retracts from its purpose of learning the associated skills needed for Dance to then move out of Novice. A dancer CANNOT compete in a Novice division and a regular division within the same style. i.e. if an athlete competes in Novice Jazz they cannot compete in a regular Jazz division but can compete in the regular Pom, Hip Hop and Lyrical/Contemporary divisions. Novice Dance is not compulsory for new teams but an option. If you are competing in All Star during the season, you cannot move into Novice for Nationals (unless recommended by the organisers via judging panel at States). Novice Dance teams will not have points deducted (unless extreme circumstance of putting athletes at risk of injury or unfixed warned skills from prior Championships); they will have warnings so as to initiate them into the rules of our sport. Nevertheless, any teams seen to be intentionally breaking the Novice RULES will be deducted with full legality points for each illegal skill sets performed. The teams in the NOVICE Dance sections will not be included in any Highest Scoring or Grand Champion awards. Novice also pays a slightly cheaper entry fee. NOVICE DANCE RULES Novice must follow the relevant USASF Rules for Dance in the chosen category and age group but with the following amendments: Turns - Stationary (pirouette) turns are limited to one turning rotation. Series non-travelling turns such as fouette s are not allowed. Series turns which intentionally travel must not involve a jump or leap Clarification -travelling turns which involve jumps or leaps include axel turns and turn jetes (tour jeté). These are not allowed in any novice section. Leaps and Jumps Russian or Switch Jetes in any position are not allowed. Inverted Skills Non-airborne skills must involve hand support with at least one hand throughout the skill (example: shoulder stall) Tumbling and Tricks All hip overhead rotation skills must involve hand support with at least one hand throughout the skill. Airborne hip overhead rotation skills are not allowed Clarification: aerials and handsprings are not allowed in novice regardless of age group or category including hip hop. Exception round-offs. Partnering and lifts Any lift in which the executing dancer has their head, neck and torso above extended arm level must involve 3 or more supporting dancers with at least 1 of these in a position to protect the head and neck. Inverted lifts - Any lift in which the executing dancer becomes inverted while not in contact with the performance surface are not allowed (example: cartwheel lift over supporting dancer s legs are illegal in novice) *Any time a dancer becomes inverted they must have contact with at least one hand on the performance surface. pg. 17
