Wednesday, September 21, 2016 Belle Valley School District would like to congratulate Megan Bayless for earning the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. Mrs. Bayless goes above and beyond her role as a teacher in the classroom. She is the President of our PRIDE Team, where she meets regularly to design, teach and promote citizenship and character development in all aspects of students' lives. This role takes a great deal of time by meeting monthly with other teacher members, planning multiple learning activities, assemblies, service field trips and much more. Not only is Megan a leader in character education, but she is also a lead special education teacher and taken on several leadership roles throughout her 8 years at Belle Valley. Megan also works countless hours to meet the needs of a full case load of 5th and 6th grade special education students. She co teaches with math and ELA teachers and works outside the classroom to incorporate necessary lesson adjustments and modifications for her students to learn, grow and be successful. Megan is creative when planning her lessons. She is tech savy and incorporates technology as an instructional tool, but also a learning tool for her students. She designs her lessons that allows her students to explore and learn through application, and not as much direct teacher instruction. Mrs. Bayless holds her students to high expectations, but expects more than 100% from herself. She is truly an asset and excellent educator. Kudos to Megan Bayless
