1 Rampart High School Hip-Hop Team Information/Try-out Packet
2 Dear Hip-Hop Candidate, Thank you for your interest in becoming a Hip-Hop dance team member! Hip-Hop is a competitive performance dance team and is sanctioned as a sport under the Spirit category by CHSAA, the governing body for high school athletics in the state of Colorado. It is a two season sport running from August to March. In order to be prepared for the fall competition season, there will be a summer camp before the school year begins. Hip-Hop takes a lot of dedication, members will not be able to participate in other fall or winter team sport teams or other major activities such as marching band or fall plays. However, many of our athletes participated in spring sports and activities. We field one Varsity Hip-Hop Co-Ed Team open to both boys and girls. If selected, there are certain personal, academic and financial obligations that a dancer and his/her parents must assume in order to be eligible, to participate, and to remain on the team. This packet is a pre-registration packet, which includes paperwork needed to secure a position on the Rampart High School Hip-Hop Dance team. Parents & Hip-Hop candidates: Please review all information in this packet and return the completed and signed forms as soon as possible. Hip-Hop Process for Sharing Concerns Rampart Hip-Hop Dance Team Rationale: The Hip-Hop Dance Team coach(es) believe it is important to listen to concerns of team members and address those concerns in a safe, non-threatening environment. Defining a clear process will ensure that time will be set aside for sharing concerns. Types of concerns: 1. Immediate, life threatening, imminent safety concerns a. Address as soon as possible with the coach or building administrator 2. Non-life threatening concerns a. Follow the process below Step 1 Contact the coach to set up a meeting time with by or in person (or by phone if it need to be done immediately) Step 2 Meet with the coaches and/or another adult to share concerns at a mutually agreed upon place and time separate from practices and competitions but within an adequate amount of time between concern and meeting. Step 3 Coach(es) and second party reflect upon concern Step 4 Coach(es) set meeting with athlete and share thoughts and any resulting actions regarding concern. Step 5 If athlete is not satisfied with the coaches response, he/she may have parents or guardians contact the coach and set up a meeting to share concern with administration.
9 Hip-Hop Dance Team Estimated Expense List Being a member of a dance team comes with a financial responsibility. We have not yet finalized our gear and shoes. The Hip-Hop team fees includes gear that team members will be wearing throughout the season. All fees are due by the due date, however they can be paid sooner. Item Team Member Due Date Hip-Hop Team Fee includes: gear and camp fee $300** Cash or check made payable to RHS Athletic Fee $95* Payforit, cash or check made payable to RHS $100 due April 30 th $200** due May 9 rd Aug 7th Check-In Day Please pay fee in the Athletic Office Shoes: all members will need to wear athletic/dance shoes for practices. We will decide on a team shoe for performances and competitions. *Athletic fees can be reduced if you are registered in the Free/Reduced lunch program. This $95 covers BOTH the Fall and Winter Sports Seasons. **All team members are required to pay the $300 hip-hop team fee. This fee is an estimate at this time. Parents will be informed at the parent meeting on 4/30 if there is a change in the team fee. Fundraising will take place in the form of a Garage Sale, RamJam camps for kids, participating in the RHS Craft Fair among others. Every member is required to participate in these activities. Anyone who does not fulfill obligations will be asked to make up for their lack of participation monetarily by paying a fee of $ Fundraising will be used to pay for competitions and/or competition uniforms. Last year major fundraisers plus team fees covered all of the gear and performances expenses for the season. These fundraisers allow us to keep team fees as low as possible. Summer Camp Dates: Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6, and Saturday-Sunday, August 12-13, p.m. Any changes to these summer camp dates will be finalized by the Parent/Team Meeting on April 30 th. If a dancer is unable to attend either weekend of the summer camo, the dancer may need to rethink their participation on the team. These camp dates are for learning the choreography for at least TWO competition routines. Failure to attend summer camp pretty much guarantees the dancer will not compete with the team for these performances.
