1 Batavia Bulldog Athletics Summer Camps 2017 The following booklet contains summer sports camps run by the BHS coaching staff through the Batavia Park District. You can sign up at the Park District office or online. SIGN UP FOR ALL SUMMER CAMPS AT
2 Jr Bulldog Football Come join us for our 19th year of this great Batavia tradition. Learn basic football skills, positions and terminology, and develop speed and coordination while having fun! All participants will receive a t-shirt and other camp goodies. 7th graders will have a helmet and shoulder pads - a "mini-camp" designed to help prepare athletes for the 7th grade tackle football program in August. 7th graders not signed up for the BYF tackle program (or other tackle programs) can participate in the traditional Junior Bulldog Camp with grades 5 and 6. Helmets, shoulder pads and cleats required for 7th grade camp. This camp is for students who are going into grades 1-2 for the school year. Registration deadline is June 19. The camp curriculum includes individual offensive and defensive position work as well as group and team concepts. The first two weeks of camp will run M-F for grades The final three weeks of camp will run on M/W/F for grades The 8-9 levels will run M/W/F for the entire camp. Some 7 on 7 events may be included. Go to for more program details (updated in throughout the Spring). This camp is for students who are going into grade 8 for the school year. Registration deadline is June 5. 3 Girls Basketball Camp Each camp offers an opportunity for all girls basketball players to learn the fundamentals of the game that are valued in grade school, middle school, and in high school. We focus to provide a positive player centered environment for the young women in this program. Coaches will emphasize a commitment to excellence in the classroom, in the community, and on the basketball court. Our focus is to promote the idea that We Are One program from grade school through varsity basketball at the high school. This will be achieved through individual instruction. We guarantee every boy who is willing to work hard and learn will see a measurable improvement in his skills at the end of the session. The staff will work to develop each player to his fullest potential while making the camp an enjoyable experience for all campers. 4 Night Shift Camp Players will be given the opportunity to work in the weight room, followed by basketball skills and team play. Registration deadline is June 29. Instruction on all fundamentals of softball for all levels of play including fielding, hitting, base running, pitching, infield play, outfield play and scrimmage in a fun and challenging environment. Registration deadline is June 12. 5 Boys Soccer Clinic The clinic focuses on fitness, skill and tactical training along with team building for the 2017 season. The clinic will also include matches against local high schools. Players must bring a ball, water, running shoes, cleats and shin guards. Registration deadline is July 10. 6 Future Bulldog Tennis This program is designed for kids to learn more about the game of tennis. Participants will be taught proper forehand/backhand, serve grip and strokes through fun drills and competitions. Participants will also learn the rules of the game and how to play a set. Registration deadline is May 29. Location: BHS Tennis Courts At 1201 Main St. Instructor: Brad Nelson AGES A M-F 06/05-06/09 9:00-9:45A $ B M-F 06/05-06/09 10:00-11:00A $ C M-F 06/05-06/09 11:00A-12:00P $ Summer Tennis Team These tennis classes are for all students entering grades 4 to 12. The Future Varsity class will be for students that are new or have little experience with the game of tennis. The class will focus on rules, fundamentals, basic strokes, and fun games and competitions. The Junior Varsity class will be for students currently playing on the J.V. team or looking to participate on the tennis team in high school. The class will focus on stroke development, serving, net play, singles and doubles match play, and tournaments. The Varsity class will be for varsity level players that have played on the varsity team or have been recommended by Batavia Tennis Coaches (must meet one of the criteria to participate in this level). The varsity class will focus on strategy, stroke development, improving fitness level and footwork, singles and doubles match play, and tournaments. Summer tennis players in the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels will have the opportunity to play in two tournaments during the week of that camp session. Trophies and medals will be given to the top two finishers in each division. Participants must have their own racquet. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt. Tennis coaches will be working on setting up matches against out of town opponents for the varsity level class on Fridays. 7 BHS Boys Cross Country Camp One of the key features of the program is the synergy that is created by the pooling of determined runners of different abilities. The goal is to help you improve individually as a runner to prepare you for the fall season. The basis of our training is consistency through a TEAM concept. Monday and Thursday class will meet at the Big Woods Park. Tuesday and Friday class will meet at the Batavia High School Field House. Location: BWP Shelter At 1063 S. We have training groups that range from newcomers to the sport to some of the top local runners and state competitors. Our goal is to help you improve individually as a runner to prepare you for the fall season. The basis of our training is consistency through a TEAM concept. Monday and Thursday class will meet at the Big Woods Park. Tuesday and Friday class will meet at the Batavia High School Field House. Registration deadline is June 6. The basis of our instruction is consistency through a TEAM concept to achieve personal bests. This is a life-long, rewarding and healthy activity for kids of all ability levels. 8 Youth Track & Field (Grades 1-6) Camp is designed to teach athletes the various events in track & field. Two track meets are scheduled to try events and compete for personal bests. Registration deadline is May 31. Location: BHS Track At 1201 Main St. Instructor: BHS Track Coaches A M,W 06/05-06/28 6:30-7:30P $85 Champion Track & Field (Grades 7-12) The athletes will join their teammates this summer to build & strengthen their speed, fine tune their mechanics, increase their fitness level, as well as build team camaraderie & friendships! This camp will highlight technical aspects of a variety of Track & Field events. The camp will culminate with an exciting track meet for all. Registration deadline is May 31. It focuses on the specific components to improve performance for your next season and is also a great introduction to the event for those who want to learn high jump for the first time. 9 Bulldog Cheer Camp Grab your friends and spend part of your summer cheering, dancing, stunting, and jumping with the award winning Batavia High School Cheerleaders and Coaches. Campers will learn a summer themed dance, several sideline cheers, time stunting and jumping! Campers are invited to show their skills and spirit at Windmill City Festival demo on Friday, July 14 at 5pm. Cheer attire: elastic waist shorts, t-shirt (tucked in), hair pulled back, and no jewelry please. Camp showcase: Friday July 8 at 11am in BHS Cafeteria. Registration deadline: June 28 for t-shirt order. If you register after the deadline date there is no guarantee to receive a t-shirt by camp dates. Late orders can be picked up at the park district when they arrive. Location: Batavia High School at 1201 Main Street Instructor: BHS Cheerleaders A W,Th,F 7/12-7/14 9a-11:30a $86 K-8 Lil Poms Dance Camp Come to a fun-filled four day camp with the award winning Bulldog High School pom/dance team. We will learn dances and build dance skills. Camp includes a t-shirt, real poms, awards, and performance at the first Varsity Batavia home football game! Dancers will be in teams according to their age in the school year of : K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8. Please wear t-shirts, stretch shorts, gym shoes and hair pulled back. There will be a demo on the last day of camp. If you register less than 1 week prior to start date, your child will not be guaranteed a set of poms or a t-shirt at the time of camp, they may be issued after the camp is complete.
