1 DEFENSE ACQUISITION UNIVERSITY, EDUCATION & TRAINING CENTER, PORT HUENEME STUDENT WELCOME PACKAGE REPORTING DAU, Education & Training Center, Port Hueneme is located at 3502 Goodspeed St., Suite 5, and Building 1444 on the Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) in Port Hueneme. Port Hueneme is approximately 60 miles Northwest of the Los Angeles International Airport. A variety of transportation options are available from the airport to Port Hueneme. Commuter Airlines - United Express provides commuter airline service from Los Angeles International Airport to the Oxnard Airport. Shuttle and Bus Service - Shuttle services are available that provide door-to-door service on a reservation basis. There is regularly scheduled bus service from the Los Angeles International Airport to Oxnard, California. Rental Car - Rental cars are available at the Los Angeles International Airport. LODGING Government quarters for DAU students are frequently available at the Bachelor Officers Quarters, Navy Lodge or the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters located in Port Hueneme. Navy personnel should make lodging reservations through their local SATO office. Other DOD personnel must contact each facility to make a reservation. When making reservations please specify that you are a DAU, Port Hueneme student. Lodging at Pt. Mugu (BOQ) is not required for DAU, Port Hueneme students. A certificate of nonavailability will only be provided by the Bachelor Officers Quarters (Port Hueneme) if they are no local government quarters available at the BOQ (Port Hueneme) or the Navy Lodge. Bachelor Officers Quarters is conveniently located across from DAU, Port Hueneme and the Bard Mansion Officers Club. The BOQ is within walking distance to the NBVC Gymnasium and other recreational facilities. Bachelor Enlisted Quarters is a short walk from DAU, Port Hueneme and is conveniently located near dining and recreation facilities, as well as the NBVC Federal Credit Union. The Navy Lodge is located within walking distance of DAU, Port Hueneme and provides easy access to all base amenities. Local area hotel information is provided in the event that quarters are not available. LOCAL TRANSPORTATION Naval Base Ventura County does not provide on-base transportation. Two commercial taxi companies service Port Hueneme and public bus service is available throughout Ventura County. Bus stops are located within walking distance of DAU, Port Hueneme and government quarters.

4 Freeway directions from the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) to the DAU, Education & Training Center, Port Hueneme: From Los Angeles Airport (LAX), there are 2 primary routes to commute about 60 miles Northwest to DAU, Port Hueneme at Naval Base Ventura County in Port Hueneme: 1) The Hwy 1 coast road is a two-lane highway - this is the most scenic route which is usually the fastest, except on weekdays from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. From LAX airport go east to onramp I405 north, then take I10 west which turns into Hwy 1 north along coast, go past Malibu, go past Point Mugu, exit Pleasant Valley Road west to CBC Main Gate. 2) The Ventura Freeway (Hwy 101) route is 3-5 lanes and is subject to heavy traffic during rush hours - From LAX airport, go east to onramp I405 north, be alert for the intersection and exit Hwy 101 north, go past Camarillo, exit Ventura Road south, right at Pleasant Valley to CBC Main Gate.

6 You may obtain a vehicle pass from the security specialist for the class you will be attending at DAU, Port Hueneme Campus if one is required. The security office is located at the Pleasant Valley gate, please proceed to first intersection and hang a left before the Pleasant Valley gate entrance. If you are bringing your POV (Personal Own Vehicle) with a government decal, then all you need is your government ID to access the base. If you will be arriving in a rental vehicle, then please provide the guard at the gate entrance with your rental agreement and government ID card for access to the base.
