4 UST CATS Overview Underground Storage Tank Compliance Assistance and Training Support (UST CATS) Program. Funded by EPA OUST Program, Washington, DC. In cooperative agreement for 5 Yrs ( ) National program; working with All Federally Recognized Tribes

5 What does the program offer? FREE!! UST training to tribes/inspectors/community. Program offers compliance assistance for UST facilities in Indian Country, training for tribal government personnel, tribal program capacity building, and collaborative opportunities. Travel reimbursements are offered to eligible participants for trainings and meetings (e.g., airfare, lodging, meals, at federal per diem rates).

6 Mission, Goals, and Objectives UST CATS MISSION: Promote the prevention of releases from federally-regulated USTs and the regulatory compliance of UST facilities in Indian Country. US EPA Tribal Strategy Strengthen Relationships between EPA and Tribes; Improve Information Sharing; Enhance tribal capacity; and Further the cleanup and compliance of USTs in Indian Country. Goals and Objectives Compliance Assistance Training (Operator Training) Increase Tribal Inspectors knowledge for oversight Increase Compliance Rates to Protect Human Health and the Environment Increase UST Awareness in communities
