2 WELCOME Familiar characters in tales old and new make up our exciting school year season here at the Missoula Children s Theatre! Travel up the heights to Mt. Olympus or down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. Explore delicious wonders in a most famous chocolate factory and go toe-to-toe with lions at Pride Rock. These adventures (and more) abound. Students of all grades, abilities and experience are welcome at MCT and we hope you will join us, either on stage or in the audience, for our epic season full of character(s)! 2 Theatre for Young Audiences Professional theatre specifically produced for grades K-8 PERFORMANCES: September 14 & 15, 2017 Throw out your fairy-tale ideas of a Cinderella with dainty glass slippers and hideous stepsisters this unique and hilarious adaptation has a new twist! Cinderella, a meek girl with big feet, has to compete with her two mean-spirited but fancy stepsisters for the hand of the prince. With the help of her faithful feline companion, Tom, and a lovable Fairy Godmother, who s always using the wrong wand, Cinderella finally learns that magic isn t the answer to her problems. A comic delight for all ages! WELCOME/TYA
3 PLAY In A DAY School is out and it is time to play! MCT is excited to offer day-long theatre camps on most Missoula County Public Schools no school days. Students will rehearse and perform a small musical in just one day! Grades K-8 $50 Registration 9:00 AM - 5:45 PM Register at MCTinc.org Comedy Carnival Step right up with a joke or two and see who can win the most laughs and chortles! Magical Mayhem What does a magician do when their spells go abracadabra to abraca-uh-oh! A Halloween Hoedown Come on down to see the most hootin and hollarin collection of western ghouls and gals! It s a Mysterious Mystery There are many suspects and many clues. But, to solve a mystery, you need only one solution The DooWop Diner Celebrate the 50 s in this toe tappin and hot rod draggin party! Pioneer Adventures Join us as we celebrate those who explored the American West Aesop s Antics Learn a lesson or two from Aesop s famous animal tales! Under the Sea Discover the fun and fins of merfolk and more in this aquatic adventure. PLAY IN A DAY 3
4 PERFORMING A Performing Arts Classes are held at the MCT Center for the Performing Art professional musical produc Fall Fall classes contain one cast per production. Classes are 4PM-6PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In the final week, class meets every day leading up to the performances. SEPT 5 - OCT 8, 2017 Performances: Oct 6-8, 2017 Grades 6-9* $150 Registration *Grade level participation restriction set by Music Theatre International. The African savannah comes to life on the MCT stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. OCT 10 - NOV 11, 2017 Performances: Nov 10-11, 2017 Grades K-5 $150 Registration NO CLASS OCT 31, 2017 The delicious adventures, experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka s mysterious chocolate factory, light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl s fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl s Willy Wonka KIDS is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone s sweet tooth. 4 FALL - PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES
5 RTS CLASSES Arts where students gain theatre skills by rehearsing and performing in a duction on the MCT stage. Winter Winter class contains two casts rehearsing the same production. Class times are 4PM-6PM. One cast rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays and performs Saturday, February 17. The other cast rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays, and performs Sunday, February 18. JAN 15 - FEB 18, 2018 Performances: Feb 17-18, 2018 Grades K-12 $150 Registration WORLD PREMIERE! Who doesn t want to meet the legendary strongman of the ancient world? Join us for this Herculean saga of the true meaning of friendship and strength. There s plenty of action and even some mistaken identity to unravel in our tale. What wonderous creatures will Hercules encounter in this mythical, mystical world? You don t want to miss this story about what makes a superhero super or how the word hero can apply to just about anyone! Or...apply to even you or me! 6 Spring Day Camp Students go from audition to performance in just one-week! Spring Day camp meets every day from 9AM 5PM with performances on Friday. MAR 26-30, 2018 Performances: Mar 30, 2018 Grades K-12 $175 Registration Alice in Wonderland is an original adaptation based on Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Alice follows a rabbit to a strange and wonderful place. Through it all, Alice grows curiouser and curiouser as to where she is and even who she is. In the end, the answers she seeks are unimportant. Wonderland is all nonsense, anyway. As the White Rabbit explains, Nonsense is fun! Attention Teachers! Bring MCT to your school. Whether it s a full-scale musical featuring your students or personalized curriculum to integrate theatre into your classroom, MCT can do it all! Scholarships & Cancellations MCT awards day camp and performing arts classes tuition scholarships on a case by case basis. To apply for a scholarship for our summer day camp program, please education@mctinc.org. Full refunds are given if a cancellation is made before the first day of class. Cancellations made before the second day of class will be a refund of the amount of tuition minus $75 in the form of an MCT gift card. No refunds will be given after the second day of classes.
