2 Committee Reports Continued: Meeting Minutes Continued Royalty: Jaime L. gave an update on the Royalty. They attended both the May and June show and presented awards/ribbons. In July, they represented the club by participating in the Litchfield Watercade Parade. It was suggested as part of the Royalty Program an exit interview take place at the end of the reign. This will be done with the 2017 Royalty. The contestants competing for the 2018 Royalty have completed the Horsemanship and the Secret Judging portion of the competition. Yet to be completed are: Personal Interviews, Written Exam, Essay and Speech. A few interested parties have contacted Jaime for the 2019 Royalty. Youth Judging: Lynda F. gave an update on behalf of Kaitlyn F. At least three youth are interested in participating in the Youth Judging at Youth Nationals. Mary S. made the motion to increase the budget by $500 for the judging team. Making the total budget $800. A second to this motion was made by Rachel T. New Business: Delegates: Registration is to be completed online by either Lynda F or Kaitlyn F. Mary S. and Kaitlyn F. are the clubs delegates. Roz G. and Kathy M. are alternates. Reimbursement of $500 to be received by delegates for the National Convention. Resolutions will be sent to the club by AHA instead of the club printing them. Nominations for Officers & Board: There are three positions up for election, Rachel T., Jean L. and Josie M. Both Rachel T. and Jean L. will run again. Val T. will continue to be the Treasurer. Old Business: The vote was unanimous in favor of allowing Adult Associate members to vote on club business. The application from will need to be revised. Other: Club Excellence Award: Kaitlyn F. is planning to submit an application to AHA for the Club Excellence Award. The focus would be the NMAHA Judging Team. Hippology: Kaitlyn F. assisted with the Hippology Contest at Region 10. Looking into making a few changes for next year. Next meeting is October 14th at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park Onamia, MN with a trail ride at 10:00 AM, potluck at 1:30 followed by the meeting at 2:00 PM. Rachel T. made the motion to adjourn the meeting with Jean L. seconding the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 2:03 PM. Jaime Liestman, NMAHA Secretary 2

3 President s Perspective Presidential Perspective: With two of the four national shows completed the show season is coming quickly to a close. With the cooler August weather, it makes it feel like fall and a great time to hit the trails. The show season isn t quite over yet and I am still looking for youth members, anyone that is 18 or younger, that are interested in competing in the National Judging contest during The US Nationals. I need to make sure we have the numbers before registering and booking the rooms. Please contact me if you are interested. As I look back at the beginning of the show season; I am pleased with how both of our horse shows were a big success, but there is still room for improvement. The show committees have already started the process of prepping for next year s shows. If there are suggestions, please forward them to me. Looking at using technology for efficiency we will be transitioning the Facebook page from a person format to a page format. There will be a transition period, but please make sure you follow the new one once it is up and running. This will allow anyone to follow and alleviate the need to monitor the person page and approving friends and allow easier sharing of posts and information. Happy trails Kaitlyn Frenchick 3

4 Dear fellow NMAHA members, 2017 NMAHA Royalty Queen s Message As our year is winding down I would like to thank you for your support through it all. My favorite thing I ve done this year was helping out at the Verndale show. I was able to talk to the judge a little and extend my learning about what the judge is looking for in classes. Also seeing Addi and Lexi s enthusiasm in handing out ribbons and their joy they have being Royalty. At the Litchfield show, I showed my own horse Fivel and was in the Royalty ride. Fivel loves the attention he gets when he is at shows and seems to prefer to be pampered all the time. The Litchfield parade is always a blast! Addi and I sat on hay bales and pillows in the back of Jaime s truck. It was so fun! Waving at everyone and meeting new friends in the horse industry. Makes me proud to be Queen of a club that takes so much pride in their horses. Katelynn Lipelt 2017 NMAHA Queen 4
