2 Page 2 OAK STREET SCHOOL S CLASS OF 2013 PHOTO On picture day, the entire 5th grade class will gather on the steps of Oak Street School for a photo. This 8 x 10 photo is only $15 and all profits from the sales of these photos will go toward the 5th grade end-of-the-year events. This year the group photo will not be on the cover of the yearbook, so this will be your only chance to have the entire grade in one picture. Please return the form below in an envelope marked 5th grade photo with a check made out to Photo-Life. Deadline for ordering is Tuesday, October 9th. 3 BOXTOPS It s time to turn in those pink BoxTops you ve been saving all summer! Our Fall BoxTops contest starts this week and continues through December. Class totals will be posted every few weeks and the class that collects the most will be rewarded. BoxTops are the pink coupons found on the packaging of hundreds of grocery items. For every coupon you submit, the PTO receives 10 cents! Please send in clipped coupons in a baggie labeled with your student s grade and teacher's name. Encourage neighbors, relatives and friends to clip Box Tops to help our school. Thanks to everyone who already sent some in! --Kandi Rocchi, Boxtops Chair PEC (Parents of Exceptional Children) SENSITIVITY TRAINING WORKSHOP The PEC is sponsoring the Sensitivity Training for all 3 rd grade classes in our district this year. The training focuses on how to be a friend with someone to looks or learns differently than you. Workshop dates are October 8, 9 and 10. We are looking for parent volunteers to help direct the children at these workshop stations. Please see the flyer in the September 28 th Friday Folder for specific dates and times. Contact Jeanette Jaworski at jeanette@jjaworski.com to volunteer or for questions. STOP & SHOP A+ BONUS BUCKS Stop & Shop is offering their A+ Bonus Bucks program to community schools. Points accrue with each purchase where the Stop & Shop card is used, including Peapod. A+ Bonus Bucks are rounded per transaction to the nearest whole dollar amount. At the end of each month, these points determine our school s cash total which will then be credited to the OSS account. (Gift cards, pharmacy and cigarettes are excluded). Up to three schools may be supported. Kindly register your Stop & Shop card online at Even if you have registered before, you must re- register every school year. DIRECTORIES Thanks to a big group effort the directories are out! They were distributed during Pizza Night and sent home with your oldest child last Friday, September 28th and Wednesday, October 3rd. If you paid your PTO dues and didn't get your copy please contact Simone Masiero at masieros@gmail.com I'd like to recognize the work of Mrs. Fehn and Mrs. Slack who promptly provided me with all the information needed and went above and beyond to ensure every single student would be listed. A big thank you goes to Kristina DiPalo, Natasha Kaiser and Lisa Vick for proof reading. It's not an easy task and you ladies excelled! A special acknowledgement to Jen Staples for putting together the advertising section and for all the wise advice that helped me navigate through this process. What a group!
