A lot goes into preparing students for UIL Academic events each year. Many thanks to the students, as well as, the sponsors and coaches for all the work that is done outside the regular school day to prepare for competition. The district placed first in Current Issues and Events and Computer Science, second in Science and Social Studies, and Charlee Cockrell was the Top Biology scorer. We wish the best to the following students who will advance to the Regional Spring Meet in Huntsville next week: Speech and Debate/LD Debate: Charlee Cockrell and Nicholas Dominguez Informative Speaking and Biology: Charlee Cockrell District Academic Meet Winners Soccer News The Wildcat Soccer Team had a great season this year but unfortunately lost to the Kilgore Bulldogs in the Regional round of the playoffs this week. It was a tough loss to a tough team. Although we know that the team was focused on another state championship for Palestine Wildcat Soccer, the PISD family is so proud of all that the team accomplished this season. 25 wins, 1 loss, and 3 ties, and 55 straight wins over the past two seasons was not easy. We are proud of our Wildcat Soccer Team! On Tuesday, April 4th, the Ladycat Soccer Team won the Regional Quarterfinal round of the playoffs with a score of 2-0 over Pleasant Grove. This win advances the team to the semifinal round of the Regional Tournament this Friday, April 7th at 1:30 pm in Tyler, at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium located at 609 Fair Park Drive, Tyler, Texas Go Ladycats! Happy Spring! Region 7 Invention Convention Students at A.M. Story Intermediate have been busy creating inventions to benefit their community and possibly the world. This week, the students took their inventions to Kilgore to compete in the Region 7 Invention Convention. Story students won 1st place for Effective Display, Potential Benefit to Society, and Prototype Performance in Division 1, and earned 3rd place overall in Division 1. In Division 2, Story came in 3rd place for Innovative Design. These students are on their way to becoming innovators which has always been and always will be the way to a better world. Next Week Palestine ISD will begin the final six weeks of the school year on Monday, April 10th. A Flex day will be held next Thursday, April 13th. On April 13th students will be released early according to the following schedule: 11:45 am WECC, NS, & SS 12:00 pm Story 12:15 pm PJH & PJH The district will be closed for the Good Friday holiday next Friday, April 14th. Due to the holiday next Friday, Wildcat Weekly will take a break. Stay tuned for more news from PISD when Wildcat Weekly returns on Friday, April 21st!
