1 GMS ANNOUNCEMENTS 10/3/17

2 Students should not be swinging on the gate by the buses after school. It is dangerous and we want to keep you safe. The bus drivers have a big responsibility and we need to be respectful of them as well. Thank you for your cooperation!

3 Attention all Art Club Members! T-shirt money must be turned into Miss O'Donnell by Monday October 9th!!! The cost is $5. If you do not pay by this day, you will not have a t- shirt even if you ordered one. You may bring a t-shirt from home if you do not want to order one. The next Art Club meetings are Tuesday October 10th, and Wednesday October 11th. See you in the Art Room from 3-4:30!

4 Picture retakes are Friday, October 6 th. If you need retakes, please bring your old pictures to school with you. And if you re a new to GMS, plan on getting your picture taken this Friday, as it s the last time that Geskus will be here to capture your amazing smile!

5 October French Club Meeting!! Monday, October 30th at 2:45-4:45pm. We are watching a film called "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele-Blanc Sec. We will watch it in French with English subtitles. Please sign up before Friday, October 27th to let Madame Wagoner know you are coming.

6 Maroon girls tennis lost a hard fought battle with Holland Christian Winners for Grandville were: Grace Elder Maddy Light Olivia McKellar Jodi Li Alissa Light Jayce Dykstra

7 Your 8th grade Maroon volleyball team responded to some tough losses in the last couple weeks by regrouping, working hard, and refocusing in the rest of the season. Proving that hard work pays off they traveled to the Reeths Puffer Rocket Tournament and put together a 10-0 undefeated day and won 1st place in the Gold Bracket!! Congratulations to all the girls on a complete team effort and taking home the hardware!!

8 Do you like science? Do you like to build devices to accomplish a task? Then Science Olympiad is for YOU!! If you are interested in participating on an award winning team, see Mr. Marvel (room #138) or Mrs. Vacha (room #121). There will be a parent meeting for those interested on October 26th at 6:30 in the project room. Thanks!

9 Winter 1 Sports Sign-Ups Winter I sports sign-ups have been sent to student s. If you plan on participating in Boys Basketball (tryouts), Competitive Cheer (tryouts) or Girls Swim & Dive... be sure to sign up thru the from Ms. Thornton as soon as possible. A sports physical and the $45 Pay to Play fee must be turned in NO LATER than Oct. 9. If you don't have a physical turned in (must be dated April 15, 2017 or after) please come to the office in the morning, during your lunch or after school and see Mrs. Breazeale. Specific times and locations will be released at a later date. Keep watching announcements! Oct. 16: Tryouts for Boys Basketball Oct. 16: First practice for Girls Swim and Dive Oct. 24: Competitive Cheer tryouts.

14 Girls Rock IT Hands On technology event for girls in grades 4-8. With the goals of breaking stereotypes and exciting girls about interesting opportunities in Information Technology, the Michigan Council of Women in Technology will be offering a day of interactive fun and learning at Davenport University on Saturday, October 21, Girls in grades 4-8 will be given opportunities for hands-on experiments led by some of the area's leading computer and information technology experts. Please join us for breakfast and information session about the expanding world of technology careers as students learn a variety of technology skills as they rotate through different sessions. We also welcome parents to join us for an informational presentation on the outlook of careers in technology that will run from approximately 9:00-9:50 AM.

15 There will be Open Gym for any 7 th or 8 th grade boy that is interested in trying out for basketball. Open Gym will be on the following Wednesday s (6:15-7:30 p.m.): October 4 th, 11 th [Student-athletes should be changing in the locker rooms inside the gym after school and not the bathrooms.]
