1 Principals Message: November is a time of remembrance and reflection. Students and staff have been working very hard this semester to create a positive learning environment for all students. Time is going by very fast and we are almost to the end of our first term! Report cards will be going home Wednesday, November 8 and we will have parent teacher conferences November 16th from 5:00-8:00 pm. We are looking forward to seeing you. This is a great opportunity for you and your child to meet with the teachers and get to know how the school year is progressing! Congratulations to our cross country running team at the provincial meet this fall! We had several participants who achieved personal bests and represented our school proudly. I would like to congratulate the football team as well as they have had a very successful season to date and are beginning to prepare for the playoff rounds to qualify for provincials. Good Luck! Our volleyball teams are going strong they have participated in weekly games, and several tournaments so far. Most recently success was had in Medicine Hat for both of our Sr. Varsity teams. The Sr. teams will be heading into the zone tournament soon in search of a provincial berth. Jr. teams will wrap up their season by mid November good luck to all the teams Go Rebels Go! 3 WORLD of CHOICES! ATTENTION ALL GIRLS IN GRADES 10-12!!!! Join Kristin Bodnar on Tuesday, November 28 for the 18th Annual World of Choices event!! World of Choices allows young women in grades to join local career mentors as they share exciting aspects of their work. Students will be exposed to a variety of career possibilities and will have the opportunity to learn about the education and qualifications necessary to fulfill their chosen career path. The young women will leave this forum excited about their future and better equipped to meet the challenges of today's work world. Students will circulate through five round-table discussion sessions to meet and interact with career mentors from different career backgrounds. This forum is geared toward exposing to their World of Choices, engaging in meaningful discussions and questions to reveal and discover their potential career choices and the other possibilities available to students. If your student is interested in coming please fill out the attached form and return to Kristin in the office or by at kristin.bodnar@horizon.ab.ca. They can also pick up a form in the office if you are unable to print it off yourself. The deadline to have the forms in is November 1. We were excited to take a great group of runners to Medicine Hat who have been training hard for the last 6 weeks. Our 11 runners had a chilly day at Echodale on Oct 11 for zones. We had six athletes finish in the top 18 which qualified them for provincials in Edmonton. Dylan Johnson (11th), Reagan Bailey (3rd), Amelia Shimbashi (11th), Renae Saunders (15th), Billy Neustaeter (11th) and Vicky Shimbashi (12th). Dylan, Reagan, Amelia and Vicky took the trip up to Edmonton to compete. We are very proud of these four runners who represented our school well! What a great way to finish a season. We look forward to seeing more runners next fall!

5 This years Awards Night was another great evening that celebrated the many successes of the fantastic students at WR Myers. A huge thank you goes out to all of our local businesses, whose financial support makes everything possible. Also a huge thank you to Linda VanMeetelen, Corrie Ilczynski, Stacy McClelland, and Kristin Bodnar for their many, many contributions. Finally, a great big shout out to Mr. Pritchard who did an amazing job as our M.C. for the evening. It truly takes a village to pull off this event every year...i couldn't be more impressed with our team that supports and encourages all of our students, each and every day. Go REBELS!
