5 This year marked the 25th Anniversary of the Southeast Police Motorcycle Seminar and Safety Trials at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The Safety Trials is an annual police motorcycle skills event that benefits the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). C.O.P.S. is a national organization that benefits the children of police officers killed in the Line of Duty. In 2013, over $50,000 was donated to C.O.P.S and other fine organizations during the 2013 motorcycle rodeo. This year for the 25 th anniversary a total of 166 competitors, from as far north as Baton Rouge Louisiana, and Maryland were competing. Of the 166 competitors, Officer J. Copas placed 6 th, and Officer J. Drucker placed 7 th overall. Team Sunrise FDOT- New Smyrna Beach Police Department placed 2 nd out of 35 teams in the skills event, and placed 5 th in the team slow ride. This was a great year, with many great competitors. The Sunrise Police Department was well represented at this year s event, and looks forward to participating in future events. Submitted by: Ofc. Jason Drucker Breast Cancer Awareness During the month of October, Sunrise Police Officers will get a chance to drive the Pink Ribbon Police Car to help raise breast cancer awareness.
