Features never-before-seen footage and interviews. ASK THIS OLD HOUSE (Sat. 2) "Kitchen Makeover, Attic Stair" On a trip to Minneapolis, Tom takes the right steps to install a new attic staircase. Watch Kevin use a special paint to give a dated kitchen an elegant makeover. And the heat is on. Richard explains which blowtorches are best. MASTERPIECE (Sun. 3) "Endeavour: Lazaretto" See how whispers of a cursed hospital ward and a seemingly innocuous death begin a chain of events lead to Endeavour's investigation of the hospital, staff and patients. Meanwhile, he must confront his own ghosts as he discovers a chilling secret. VICIOUS (Sun. 3) "Flatmates" After Freddie and Stuart have a falling out, Stuart moves in with Ash and Violet moves in with Freddie. It doesn t take long, however, before the new flatmates begin to drive each other crazy. Violet and Ash devise a plan to return things to normal. POV (Mon. 4) "The Grown-Ups" In a school for individuals with Down Syndrome, four middle-aged friends yearn for a life of greater autonomy in a society that marginalizes them as disabled. Get a humorous and at times tragic look at the limbo of conscious adults. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW (Mon. 4) "Seattle" ANTIQUES ROADSHOW rocks out at Seattle s EMP Museum and discusses Jimi Hendrix trendsetting fashion style. Other highlights include a Vladimir Kagan desk used by Kagan himself and an impressive 1874 Francis A. Silva oil painting valued at $250,000. FRONTLINE (Tues. 5) "The Man Who Knew" Revisit the saga of FBI Agent John O Neill and his warnings about Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks. O Neill s story provides a rare glimpse inside the FBI and helps answer the question: What did the U.S. government know and when? AMERICAN EXPERIENCE (Tues. 5) "Walt Disney" (Pt. 2) Explore the complex life and enduring legacy of the creative genius as he made films such as Cinderella and Mary Poppins and realized his dream project, Disneyland. EARTH'S NATURAL WONDERS (Wed. 6) "Wonders of Water" See wonders created by the grand and unpredictable power of water, including Victoria Falls, where men risk death to reach fishing pools; the Camargue, where man vs. bull; and ocean reefs, where a guardian seeks a manta ray to help save the species. THE THIS OLD HOUSE HOUR (Thurs. 7) The homeowners choose ship lap for the third floor. Reclaimed granite is used for steps; a marble slab is cut for the kitchen island. 12 12 Program Descriptions for September 24 through September 30 THE VIETNAM WAR (Sun. 24) "Things Fall Apart" Seeing the violence and brutality of the Tet Offensive unfold on television, Americans begin to doubt Johnson s promise of light at the end of the tunnel. LBJ decides not to run again. The country is staggered by assassinations and unrest. THE VIETNAM WAR (Mon. 25) "The Veneer of Civilization" With the country at odds over the war, draft-age Americans face wrenching choices. After chaos roils the Democratic Convention, Nixon narrowly wins the presidency. In Vietnam, soldiers on all sides witness terrible savagery and unflinching courage. THE VIETNAM WAR (Tues. 26) "The History of the World" When troop withdrawals begin, soldiers left in Vietnam ask what they are fighting for. News breaks of a shocking massacre at My Lai, and questions grow about the war s rectitude. The Cambodia invasion sparks large protests, with tragic consequences. THE VIETNAM WAR (Wed. 27) "A Disrespectful Loyalty" South Vietnamese forces fighting on their own suffer a terrible defeat in Laos. After being re-elected in a landslide, Nixon strikes a peace deal with Hanoi that allows American prisoners of war finally to come home to a bitterly divided country. THE VIETNAM WAR (Thurs. 28) "The Weight of Memory" Nixon resigns amidst Watergate, while a brutal civil war continues in Vietnam. North Vietnamese troops overtake Saigon with overwhelming force. For the next 40 years, Americans and Vietnamese from all sides search for healing and reconciliation. CRAFT IN AMERICA (Fri. 29) "Neighbors" Travel to and from the U.S. and Mexico to explore the people, history, traditions and crafts, noting how aesthetics cross from one country to another and back again in an organic and ongoing cultural exchange. ASK THIS OLD HOUSE (Sat. 30) "Hawaii Makes 50" That makes 50! The guys complete the show s run of every U.S. state. Tom learns how to create a unique keepsake box from island materials in Build It. Richard looks at a new way to store solar energy. Roger helps a family grow an organic garden. THIS OLD HOUSE (Sat. 30) "Arlington Arts & Crafts / An Arts & Craft for the Ages" Tour the completed project house, including the new addition at the back of the house, updated front hall, dining room and pantry, expanded master suite, spacious new bathroom and new front porch, and outside, new plantings and hardscape. THIS OLD HOUSE (Sat. 30) "Detroit / Rebirth in Detroit" After seven months of hard work, the project is complete. After a new chef takes the reins, her diminishing role at the restaurant becomes clearer. Vivian s long-held vacation plans are stifled by a series of strange events. MARTHA STEWART'S COOKING SCHOOL (Sat. 30) "Coastal Favorites" Travel along the coast as Martha showcases the bounty of the Arabian Gulf. Each dish highlights the local catch shrimp balls, chilled mussel salad, calamari with vermicelli, lemon and herbs, and fish with tamarind sauce.
