2 FOR ALL PERFORMERS, FACULTY & AUDIENCE MEMBERS CODE OF CONDUCT TAKE PRIDE IN CREATING A SAFE A PROFESSIONAL EVENT FOR ALL. TOGETHER WE CELEBRATE, LEARN, AND GROW. GENERAL Instructions given by Festival Staff, Pantages Playhouse Theatre Staff and Volunteers are to be followed. Failure to display proper decorum in all areas of the venue could result in not performing, immediate disqualification, along with the possibility of not returning to any future festival events. No communicating with the adjudicator. Under fire regulations, ALL hallways and doorways must be kept free. We urge all studio owners, directors, teachers and especially parents to work together to keep our performers photographically SAFE Any teacher found to be recruiting students from one studio to another will be asked to leave the venue immediately. USE OF PHOTO/VIDEO Regardless of the device being used, videotaping and photography during the festival sessions and workshops are strictly prohibited; this is to protect the performer s safety and the rights of the choreographers. Blatant disregard of this rule will have equipment/devices being confiscated, and an invitation to leave the theatre. Still photos can be taken in the lobby of the theatre. Dance MB offers through AAA Video Recording the option to purchase videos. IN THE THEATRE If you need to use your cell phone for texting, calling, playing games or any other reason, do so in between sessions, or please leave the theatre. No videotaping or photography. No food or drinks Enter the theatre, only when doors are opened by Festival staff No cat calls or talking during performances and adjudications IN THE LOBBY Food and drinks are permitted, please clean up after yourselves The lobby and the lobby washrooms are not to be used as dressing rooms. That includes the use of make -up and hair spray. BACKSTAGE AREAS (WINGS, DRESSING ROOMS, GREEN ROOM, KOROL STUDIO) No videotaping or photography in the backstage area. Only those with a designated festival card will be permitted (Performer, Teacher or Chaperone cards) Participants and teachers are on standby 30 minutes prior to their session, and are to remain in dressing room areas until called to the wings by Stage Management. Performers must not do anything that may damage the stage area, including flooring, the scrim, nor do anything that may endanger or harm others. (i.e.: no liquids onstage, no use of baby powder, no footwear that will damage dance floor) BACKSTAGE No videotaping or photography in wings. No talking in the wings No food in the backstage areas. Only spill-proof WATER bottles permitted backstage. One supervisor (teacher or chaperone) over the age of 18 must be present in the backstage areas for ALL age groups to supervise the dancers and to provide necessary information to Stage Management team, and to be on hand should any situation arise with respect to the performers regardless of the performers ages.

3 DRESSING ROOMS The use of the dressing room is a privilege and is to be kept clean and shared cooperatively. Only teachers and designated chaperones (max of 2 additional chaperones) allowed assisting with costume changes. KOROL STUDIO The Korol studio is provided for a brief warm up and a quick run through of pieces. The studio will be monitored by a Festival Staff. No group may reserve the space. In the event of a workshop in the Korol studio, participants may use the Korol Studio lobby. CHECK THE WORKSHOP SCHEDULE AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY. Theatre etiquette Being able to attend a dance festival held in a theatre is a special and different experience compared to a competition or convention held in non-traditional venues. Be respectful of the performers, the adjudicators, staff and audience members by being attentive and considerate. If you arrive late, don t push your way into the theatre or demand to be seated. The ushers will open the doors when there is nothing going on stage. Leaving during a performance is considered highly disrespectful and should only be done in case of emergency. Any visual recording of a performance is forbidden, if you are caught you will be asked to either leave your equipment with the festival staff which will be put in a secure location or you will be asked to leave the theatre. The light and noise from cell phones and other electronic devices are a big distraction, so please; if you must use them to do so in between sessions. If a fellow audience member is being distracting a simple please be quiet or at times a meaningful and sharp Shh!, is enough to have the person be quiet. If not, please inform a festival usher or staff member and they will deal with the individual(s). Above all, anyone who attends the Manitoba Provincial Dance Festival all have something in common and have all been looking forward to the performance, just as much as you have. Please keep your comments about performances positive and supportive even if you do not agree with the adjudicator, be respectful of the process.
