1 Greetings everyone! It s that time of year again to start thinking about what your kids are going to do this Spring and Summer. Xplosion season is upon us and we have a lot of new things planned with new tournaments, new cities, and new training, we hope, we will be your part of your Spring and Summer plans was another great year of Xplosion Hockey. Again, we brought home more Regional Championships and National Championships to continue to put Iowa on the map for hockey. Our program is getting a lot of recognition from State Wars Hockey (The Largest International Roller Hockey Tournament in the World) and colleges are starting to pursue us as well to get to know more about our program in Iowa. You read that right, colleges have contacted us about coming to our practices and seeing our program. They want to be apart of the great thing growing here in Des Moines. This is exciting and humbling at the same time. College Roller Hockey is growing and more and more kids are getting the chance to play the game they love at college level, sometimes through a scholarship! We hope through Xplosion, to expose your child to future hockey opportunities for them. We are in the middle of the our largest Winter League with lots of NEW faces. It s great to see Roller Hockey thriving in Des Moines once again. We have great coaches and parents to thank for all our success in We look forward to continue to develop great hockey players in our program so they can be successful in their hockey careers and in life. It will cover our travel dates, practices, expectations etc If you have any additional questions, we have reserved a night for parents to come and find out more about our program. This date is Monday January 29th, 8:30pm at Skate West (2019 Grand Ave West Des Moines,IA 50265). Registration deadline for tryouts is Friday, February 9th. 2 The Season The season will get underway in March and end in July. THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICE OVER SPRING BREAK We have decided to carry two teams this year (if # s allow) in each division up to U16 (Xplosion Red & Xplosion Blk). Each team will consist of 7-8 players and 1 goalie on the roster. Each team will practice approximately 7-10 hrs per month. Once per week on skates and three times a month doing dryland / off rink training. *All teams will have an added practice time the week before a tournament* Reminder- your child is required to participate in Spring League at Skate West as part of the Xplosion program. Please make sure to register online and have your payment of $195 payable to Skate West (cash, check, mastercard, VISA) finalized by the first game. U16 Team will play in the A League at Skate South on Tuesday nights. Practices Tentative -- Attendance is required unless you have discussed your absence with the coach (practice schedule and times will be set once teams are finalized). Mondays Thursdays- Occasional Weekend practice (Saturday or Sunday) a few practices will take place before Spring Break if rink is available What is the travel schedule? These dates are subject to change but are the most current U8s and 10s Will have a small tournament with Omaha in April either in Omaha or Des Moines. This will happen on a Saturday or Sunday Morning - TBD. 3 Xplosion Black Schedule: 2018 XPLOSION HOCKEY April 14-15th -- KC Patriots Tournament (Xplosion Black U12s, U14s and U16s) May 4 th -6 th Des Moines 6 th Annual Cinco De Mayo tournament May 26 th -28 th Memorial Day Weekend Omaha, NE U8 & U10 Saturday U12 & U14 Sunday U16 Monday June 8-10th TORHS Regional Wisconsin July 5th- 13th TORHS Nationals Tampa Florida Uniforms Each child will be required to purchase the following: Total Uniform cost - $185 (uniforms are theirs to keep) 2 Sublimated Xplosion Jerseys Wht/ blk - $135 for the set (We are going with a new style this year for all 12U, 10U, 8U teams and New Players joining) Custom Team roller hockey pants- $50 required each year Uniforms will need to be paid for when order is placed. Other Xplosion gear will be available for purchase. There will also be opportunities to purchase gloves, bags, girdles, sticks, wheels, shorts, etc through Xplosion at big discounts. So if you need anything please ask! Training fees / Tournament fees Practice fees for the season (Approx-45hrs) - $635 (March July) Entry fees for Midwest Tournaments (Kansas City, Des Moines and Omaha) - $165 per player (all three tournaments) if your child plays on 2 teams, in 2 age groups, you will pay an additional $105 for the 2nd team. This covers the tournament fees for that additional team. This will be due by May 15th and is not included in your initial payment. **Additional tournament fees listed below based on a 9 player roster. Additional Fee: TORHS Nationals fees TBD after final fundraising totals *Child will not play if his or her dues are not current* Fundraising Our goal this year is to take all kids participating in the Xplosion Hockey program to TORHS Nationals and raise enough money to cover all of their tournament fees. We will be doing a minimum of 3 fundraisers to help raise the money. Each child will get a 2018 Xplosion tryout jersey the night of the tryout. All drills will be timed and evaluated. Your child must make at least one tryout to be considered for a team. Cost to try out is $35 to try out payable to Xplosion Hockey (whether you attend 1 or both tryouts).
