1 First Grade News Arthur Jacobsen Elementary School February Read! Read! Read! Overall, we are super impressed with all the reading that is taking place at home and during the school day. Please continue to utilize the nightly reading log. Students zones are changing often especially when they increase their practice time. A Big THANK YOU to our PTSA for continued support with the online Accelerated Reading Program! Thanks PTSA! Put on Your Dancing Shoes! The Dance Man is returning to AJ for a week of fun and exercise! We will be attending dance lessons daily throughout the week of February 4th. This program meets the Auburn School District guidelines for Music and PE. We are thrilled that the PTSA is sponsoring this event. We will be dancing Monday-Friday from 2:55-3:30 (Saiki & Nelson 10:40-11:25 on Wednesday ONLY,) if you would like to join us! On Friday night, you can show your moves at the family dance from 6:30-8:30 PM. WANTED: Listed below are a few items we are looking for to use in our classrooms. If you are able to donate any of the items, please send them to school with your child. THANK YOU! Baby wipes (We use these to clean the tops of our desks. Lots of students sit at our desks and this is one way to keep the germs away! Between all 3 classes we least 75 per day that s a box per day.) Small pencil top erasers (the ones that fit on the top of the pencil, where the eraser is. Sometimes called a cap eraser.) Important Dates: Feb 4th 8th Dance Man Thurs., Feb 7th Class Picture Day! Fri., Feb 8th Book Order Due Dance Night 6:30-8:00 PM Thurs., Feb 14th Valentine s Day Feb 18th-22 Mid-winter Break NO SCHOOL

Valentine s Celebration On Thursday, February 14th we will have a Valentine s Day celebration. Students can bring in treats or juice for the celebration.

Valentine Cards Students can work on valentine cards at home and bring them to school starting Monday Feb 11th.

2 Valentine s Celebration On Thursday, February 14th we will have a Valentine s Day celebration. Students can bring in treats or juice for the celebration. Please make sure you bring enough for each student in the class. We will be opening our Valentines at that time as well. Students can also bring in Valentine cards. Valentine Cards Students can work on valentine cards at home and bring them to school starting Monday Feb 11th. When students bring their cards to school they will get to deliver their cards on that day. We are encouraging students to bring in their cards before Thursday so that they will have more time opening and celebrating with their classmates on Valentine s Day. The list of students is attached to this newsletter. Please make sure your child has a Valentine card for every student in our class. School Spirit Mondays At Arthur Jacobsen Elementary EVERY Monday is school spirit day! Students and staff are encouraged to wear their Arthur Jacobsen attire and/or the colors black and gold. In an effort to further encourage school spirit our student council is having a contest to see which class has the most school spirit. (They come around on Mondays to count how many of us are wearing gold and black or AJ clothes.) We have had the spirit banner hanging in one of our first grade classes twice so far this year!
