5 BAYSIDE NEWS Page 5 News London Marathon When I was given the chance to take part in The London Marathon running for TACT - the UK's biggest Children's charity fostering homeless teenagers - in April this year, I jumped at it. I had previously run The Melbourne marathon, with very little training and paid the price, so this time, determined to do it properly, I trained seriously for about 4 months. What a difference it made! The sun shone, and despite being just a week after the Boston bombing, the whole of London came out to watch. 700,000 people in 50 pubs and 5 fire stations cheered on the 67,000 competitors, many in fancy dress - rhino's and Darth Vader included, and loads of celebrities (mostly East Enders and footballers). My biggest decision of the day was who to receive my medal from - David Beckham or Prince Harry (Royalty won!). It was one of the best days of my life and with 3,000 pounds raised for charity and a totally respectable time in my age group - a day I will never forget. Beverley Pearce Congratulations Beverley from all at Bayside - such a wonderful personal achievement and an inspiration to us all. What a dilemma for you though - Prince Harry or David Beckham! 2014 Trials Trials for 2014 will be held on Sunday, 8th & 15th September, Venue and times are still being finalised, however we will notify all current players as soon as details become available.
6 BAYSIDE NEWS Page 6 Uniform Update For all Bayside uniform requirements, please contact: baysidenetball@hotmail.com It is compulsory to wear the Bayside training uniform to all training sessions. The Club is happy to purchase Second hand uniforms for resale. Dress $ Fleecy Jacket $ Polo Shirt $ Muscle Top $ Shorts $ Leggings $ Tracksuit Pants $ Socks $ 8.00 Socks: The majority of our players would now have received their socks. I have kept a listing of who hasn t, so you will receive yours as soon as new stock comes through. If you wish to purchase an extra pair, I will be at the courts on Sunday, 14th April, 2013 from 6:00pm onwards. Help Needed: We are currently looking for someone to take over the Uniform sales. If you are interested, please contact Karen Long at baysidentball@hotmail.com. There is not a lot of work involved, so if you have the time we would be grateful.
