Your application will be sent back to you if it is missing any of the items listed above. The application deadline is March 14, The application must be received by that date. No Exceptions! 2 Pageant Date: Saturday, April 14 th, 2018 Dear Contestants: The Mr. Mature America Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 14 th, :00 PM at the Ocean City Music Pier. We have enclosed an application for your convenience, hoping that you are interested in becoming a contestant. At 2:00 PM on Friday, April 13 th there will be a brief mandatory contestant orientation held at the Music Pier followed by a rehearsal for the contestants from 2:30 to 5:30 PM. All contestants are required to attend. If you are using music, you must bring your talent CD s which will be timed. Contestant will practice their talent that day, choose numbers for their appearance in the pageant and learn routines for the opening number as well as poise and appearance. Dinner will be provided at 5:30 PM. A mandatory dress rehearsal will be held after dinner 6:30 PM 8:00 PM. Please bring everything for the pageant with you to this rehearsal. Saturday, April 14 th will be a very busy day. All of the contestants will be special guests in the City of Ocean City s Doo Dah Parade at Noon until 1:00 PM. Following the parade the contestants will proceed to the Music Pier for rehearsals until 2:00 PM. Interviews taking place 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The contestants will be treated to a special dinner before the pageant and the pageant will begin at 7 PM. We are thrilled to announce that TV Legend and iconic personality, Erik Estrada will be our 2018 Grand Marshal for the Doo Dah Parade and Special Guest Emcee for Mr. Mature America The deadline for registration is March 14, The contestants will be judged on the following: Distinguished Style & Charisma (suit/formal wear)..25% Judge s Interview..35% On Stage Question...10% Talent.30% GOOD LUCK IN THE PAGEANT AND MOST OF ALL HAVE FUN! 3 Rules and Regulations 1. Contestants must be 55 years of age or older. 2. The winner agrees to hold ONLY the title of Mr. Mature America throughout his one year reign. 3. The winner agrees (without charge) to make appearances, if possible, for the City s various events throughout the year of 2018 until April of (ie: Baby Parade, Halloween Parade, Doo Dah Parade, Easter Promenade & summer special events, etc.) You are responsible for transportation to & from all events. Crown & sash are the property of the pageant and can only be worn at approved events. 4. Contestants must have available to wear: Semi-formal/Business attire for the offstage interview Opening outfit TBA Formal attire for Distinguished Style & Charisma Outfit/costume of your choice for your talent presentation 5. Contestants will be judged on poise & appearance, on stage questions, talent potential and the judge s interview. 6. ALL DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES WILL BE FINAL. 7. TALENT COMPETITION will be judged on talent potential only. Talent should be a maximum of 2 minutes. Judges will deduct points if longer than 2 minutes. Please bring your music on CD to the first rehearsal! Any props must be approved by committee. For pianists, violinists or any other instrumental talent no background music is permitted. For vocalists the CD must be instrumental ONLY. 8. If any contestant or any member of contestant s party does not conduct themselves in an appropriate manner it may result in immediate disqualification. Good sportsmanship is a must! 9. The contestant must turn in a high resolution photograph for publicity and the program book. 10.
