3 Introduction to Competitive Homecoming Events Thanks for your interest in Homecoming 2017 Halloween Tricks, Laker Treats! Grand Valley is a sweet place, but sometimes we forget the mystical draw that captured our hearts! There are several events and competitions planned which incorporate the tricks and treats theme of Halloween Tricks, Laker Treats! Our athletic opponent for the football game are the Northern Michigan Wildcats. If there are any questions or concerns about the Homecoming Competition, do not hesitate to contact the Laker Traditions Team Coordinators (Alyssa Jones and Haley Biondo) or the Student Life Homecoming Advisors (Andrew Travis and Maeling Groya). Theme Halloween Tricks, Laker Treats 3

4 Team Rules Homecoming teams will be broken into two tiers based on size and will only be competing against teams in their own tier. Each team will be given a sub theme within the overall theme to represent throughout the competition. Once teams register, the coordinators will contact team captains with their individual sub theme. Teams can choose to participate in all events or just a few. Teams consist of partnered groups of students from Living Centers, Registered Student Organizations (or groups of RSOs), off-campus apartments, or even just a group of students in a particular major. o If a team wants to participate but does not have a partner, Laker Traditions Team will match them with one. Similar to intramural teams, the only requirement is that all team members must be currently enrolled GVSU students, and they must complete the participation waiver agreement prior to the start of Homecoming Week. o Waivers NEED to be completed and submitted on/before Saturday, October 21. o Additionally, a list of all team members NEEDS to be completed and submitted on/before Saturday, October 21st. Each team will have a captain who is responsible for attending informational meetings and reading informational messages sent via and/or OrgSync. Team registration is at and complete registrations are due by October 13 th. Winners will be announced after each activity and will be announced on the Grand Valley State University Student Life Homecoming website listed above. 4
