1 HOMECOMING INFORMATION First Homecoming vote was Friday, September 6 th. An announcement will be made at 7:53 a.m. for students to report to homerooms to vote. We will not have a king this year for Homecoming as that is designated for Prom. Second Homecoming vote is Friday, September 13 th. An announcement will be made at 7:53 a.m. for students to report to homerooms to vote. Votes will be picked up from classes by office staff personnel. Third Homecoming vote will be Friday, September 20 th. An announcement will be made at 7:53 a.m. for students to report to homerooms to vote. Votes will be picked up from classes by office staff personnel. Homecoming practice will be 7 th and 8 th period on Thursday, September 26 th at Raidiger Field. There will be a Homecoming bonfire in front of Raidiger Field at 7:00 p.m. on September 26 th. Final Homecoming Queen Vote will be Friday, September 27 th. An announcement will be made at 7:53 a.m. for students to report to homerooms to vote. Votes will be picked up from classes by office staff personnel. Coaches and advisors must provide a roster of participants walking in the parade. All students participating in the parade will walk. No students are permitted to ride on floats. Homecoming game is September 27, The school parade on campus will begin at 9:30 a.m. We will begin to line up for the parade at 9:00 a.m. I will call students out of class by each activity. At approximately 9:20 a.m. we will be dismissing the rest of the student body to line up along Tiger Drive. All staff is encouraged to decorate your classroom doors/windows as Spirit Sticks will be awarded to the school exemplifying the most spirit. The downtown parade will begin lineup at 12:30 p.m. The parade will be proceeding to town at 1:00 p.m. The route will start at the high

2 school and travel left on State Route 220 into Waverly. The route will travel right on Market Street across State Route 23 then left onto Second Street. The parade will conclude at Raidiger Field. Students will be transported by bus back to campus for bus dismissal that afternoon. Homecoming dance is September 28 th from 8:00-11:00 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria. If any teachers are interested in assisting with supervision please notify Mr. Hoover.

3 2013 Waverly High School Homecoming Schedule Homecoming week: September 23-27, 2013 Float building begins September 22, Students who wish to participate should contact class advisors. Advisors are listed below with locations for float building to be announced. * 9 th grade Mrs. Harmon *10 th grade Mrs. Vulgamore *11 th grade Mrs. Walls *12 th grade Mrs. Dickens Waverly City Schools Homecoming Parade on Campus September27th starts at 9:30 a.m. The parade will begin on the SR 220 side of Waverly High School and follow Tiger Drive past Waverly Junior High School. The parade will turn left to travel behind Waverly Intermediate/Primary then around to the front of these buildings. As the parade reaches Tiger Drive, we will proceed right to conclude where we began. Waverly City Homecoming Parade Downtown on September 27 th starts at 1:00 p.m. from WHS campus down SR 220 to Market Street, left on Second Street to Raidiger Field. Floats will be at the field for the football game. In the event inclement weather would cancel the parade, participants will visit the buildings starting with Primary followed by Intermediate and Junior High. This walk through would begin after B lunch (12:15). The walk through would conclude with a pep rally at the high school at 2:10. Homecoming game September 27 th at 7:30 p.m. vs. Coal Grove. Homecoming Queen Ceremony at halftime. Homecoming dance September 28 th in WHS cafeteria from 8-11 p.m. Dress is semi-formal. Pre-sale tickets for the dance will be available in the office September 23-27, Tickets are $5 per student. Any guests of our students must have a guest form completed if they wish to attend the dance.

Fire Department Parades will assemble on the school access road facing SR 220 by the Central Office parking lot. The groups will line up in the order listed above.

5 RULES FOR STUDENTS BUILDING FLOATS 1. While at the float site, students are in a school function and are therefore subject to follow all school rules as set forth in the Waverly City School Code of Conduct. 2. Students are to be at the location of their own class float site only. No student is allowed to visit the float site of another class. 3. Vandalism of any float site will result in the consequences set forth in the Waverly City Schools Code of Conduct. 4. Students working on the float are to be considerate of the facility lent to them. The area is to be kept as neat as possible during the building process and totally cleaned up after its completion. 5. Power tools are not to be used by students unless under the direct supervision of the advisor. 6. The advisor will have the authority to ask students to leave the float site if they are involved in horseplay or not contributing to the project being built.

6 HOMECOMING PARADE RULES 1. Each head coach is responsible for the safety and conduct of the team members riding in the parade. 2. Team members are to sit down on the bed of the truck. Standing or sitting on the sides and on the tailgate is prohibited. 3. A member of each coaching staff must be in one of the vehicles. 4. Students riding must remember that they are representing WHS. Good conduct is essential. 5. Nothing is to be thrown to the people watching the parade. (Example: candy). 6. Class advisors are responsible for picking who rides the vehicle pulling the float. They also are to follow above listed rules. 7. Cars are for Queen Candidates, Attendants, Drivers, and Escorts only. 8. Team vehicles and float pulling vehicles must be driven by an adult (out of school). 9. All team members in the parade must be in uniform.
