1 PMMS Mustang News Dr. Jasmine Kullar, Principal April 20, 2018 Admin News Please join me in congratulating assistant principal, Dr. Camille Havis who was named principal of Campbell Middle School! We are so excited for Dr. Havis as she begins this new journey! We will miss her but know that Dr. Havis will be a valuable asset and addition to the Campbell community! Please welcome Ms. Linda Keeney who joined our admin team temporarily until the end of the school year. Ms. Keeney is a retired principal from King Springs ES and has been amazing as we finish out the year! April 27 Final day for Olympic t- shirt sales PTA Chick-fil-a sale April PMMS musical May 3 6th grade music department spring concert PMMS Interviews for both AP positions will take place end of April and beginning of May. We hope to have both our AP s named by the end of the school year in May. Family in Need May 4 May 8 8th grade dance 7th grade music department spring concert PMMS The Pine Mountain community has a family that experienced a catastrophic house fire earlier this week. The family is in need of our sup -port and expressed that clothing items are greatly needed. If you are able to donate any of the items needed below, we would greatly appreciate it (you can drop them off in the front office). Thank you! Thank you to all our students for getting through all our schedules and long mornings. More info to come on the upcoming RI and MI testing (needed for promotion) which will be held in May. 2 8th Grade Dance Parent Volunteers Needed The 8th grade dance will be here SOON and We Could Use Your Help! Dance is May 4th, 7-10pm We are in DIRE need of parents to help before the dance: arts, crafts, connections, donate supplies, and help the day of with set up and clean up - whatever you can do to help is appreciated. Pretty Brainy Club News Pretty Brainy will meet Wednesday, April 25th after school until 5:30 in room Girls should be picked up promptly at 5:30. 6th Grade Math 6 th grade math students and parents, please check the blog every day to see assignments, sample work, HW/CW answers and videos to help you with your assignments. Please click on the calendar of your class. Only 10 left! PS. Students need to bring in a basic calculator (nothing fancy, it just needs to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Students also need to restock on paper and pencils.) FLY Fridays Join Mrs. Taylor every Friday morning at 8:15am in the gym for fellowship, games, and guest speakers. FLY will resume Friday, April 20th. Yearbooks can only be purchased at the school. Online ordering is closed. Math Club Math Club meets every Friday at 8:30 in Mrs. Wilbur s classroom! We are preparing for our 1 st Math Competition.

3 Math Competition Students from all over Cobb County attended the Math Competition at NTID (for students who are deaf/heard of hearing). The Math Competition allowed students to display their knowledge, skills and confidence. Jeremiah Jackson Gillihan, Christopher Meneses, Paris Barnwell, Patricia Giron Cruz and Damiyon Richards represented Pine Mountain Middle School. Cobb County placed 2 nd and won $200! Congratulations to Cobb County and to the students of Pine Mountain Middle School for representing our school well! We are proud of you! Hoops For Heart Hoops for Heart will start May 14 th -18 th. To raise money for the American Heart Association, there will be a 3v3 basketball tournament, free-throw contest, and slam dunk contest during 3 rd period. The tournament is first-come first-serve due to limited space. The cost to participate will be $3 per student per event. Sign-ups will begin May 3rd-May 8 th.

4 Field Trip for Leadership Teams at PMMS Who: Amigos, StuCo, and Pretty Brainy Date: Monday, May 7, 2018 Time: 9:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Cost: $26 Due: Friday, April 20, 2018 Permission forms were distributed before Spring Break. Before returning, we will make a stop at the historic Varsity. Bring a few dollars to enjoy lunch at this historic spot. Music Department News The Pine Mountain Middle School Music Department will be performing at the Big Shanty Festival on Saturday, April 21 st! Band performs with the Kennesaw Mountain High School Marching Band at 9:30am in the Parade Orchestra performs at 12:00 pm on the City Hall stage Mustang Singers performs at 3:00 pm on the Depot Stage Drama Club Our PMMS drama club is presenting Beauty and the Beast April See page 8 of the newsletter for more information. Color Guard Spring Football at KMHS See page 9 of the newsletter for spring football practice information. See page 12 of the newsletter for color guard information. 7th Grade Immunization Requirements Attention parents of upcoming 7th graders: please see page 10 of the newsletter for immunization requirements for all 7th graders.

5 Teacher Appreciation Week Monday, May 7th- Friday May 11th Students will be able to participate in the following days! Tuesday, May 8 - Thanks for Working So Hard Day Bring in some school supplies, craft supplies, cleaning supplies or something to make your teacher s job easier! Wednesday May 9 - Strength of the Written Word Day A handwritten note is an extremely personal way to show your appreciation. Write a teacher or two a note to express your thanks. Thursday May 10 - You Make My Life Sweeter Day Bring in a sweet treat for a teacher that makes your life a little sweeter! Friday, May 11- You Deserve a Splurge Help your teacher indulge a little with a gift card to a favorite store - Dunkin Donuts, Chick-fil- A, Menchie's, Moe s and many others all go a long way to help them feel as special as they are! Chick-Fil-A Nugget Sales PTA will have two final nugget sales April 27 and May 11. Nuggets are $3 per box. Help support our PTA with your purchase!

9 2018 Annual Military Care Package Operation Our PMMS PTSA community outreach project this year will be collecting items for military care packages. Please help us send care packages to deployed service members. It is a wonderful away to show our appreciation for all they do for us. There will be a collection barrel, in the front office. We will be collecting donations at the school, from 04/30-05/11. **Please help spread the word.** Donations needed: gum, hard candy, trail mix, granola bars, current magazines, beef jerky, individual powdered drink mixes (Gatorade for example), toiletries, oral products, travel sized wet wipes, small travel games, small footballs, playing cards, books, toiletries, lip balm, sunscreen (lotion only), blank cards or stationary, Sudoku, Crosswords, Brainteasers, etc. Handwritten thank you notes/cards and art would be great to put into each care package too.
