McLean BLVD PRE - PICUTRE DAY Please have your child try on their costume prior to picture day and do any necessary alterations to their costume(s). SEW THE SHOULDER STRAPS OF GIRLS COSTUMES. The costume should go up high enough over their chest and fit tight as they will be moving and dancing. Boys pants should be snug so they are not pulling them up while dancing. Have all your shoes, tights, and costume pieces labeled with your name! PICUTRE DAY Pictures are taken in dance studio 1 at the YMCA. Waiting for pictures is in the lobby and hot spot. Parents are NOT allowed in the studio while pictures are being taken. WEAR MAKE UP but not as dark as stage make up! HAIR; All girls hair in a bun at the back crown of the head. Please be ready at your scheduled time. Use the Locker rooms for changing. 7 UNDER GARMENTS and COSTUME CARE STEPS Dance Academy NO COSTUME: o JUNE 2 Finale Rehearsal Taylor YMCA 4:00-5:30. o Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. o NO SANDALS OR FLIP FLOPS! COSTUME CARE: LABEL EACH PIECE OF YOUR CHILDS COSTUME! o LABEL, Hairpieces, SHOES & all accessories. This avoids costume mix ups & tears! o Small costume and hairpieces should be labeled and put in a labeled zip lock bag with their name. ALTERATIONS: o You are in charge of alterations! Finalize costume alterations/adjustments BEFORE Picture Day. o Most of the time a little taking in of straps is all you need to do. TUTU S: o HANG THEM UPSIDE DOWN - so they stay fluffy! TIGHTS: o Each female dancer will receive 1 pair of tights in May that go with all of their dances. o The Same color tights is used for all dance and tumbling classes. o Hip Hop may or may not have tights. o All dancers/tumblers will have the same color tights. o Tumblers will have footless tights, or convertible tights. o Convertible tights will be used in both tumble/dance. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD PLAY IN THEIR COSTUME! RECITAL T-SHIRTS: o Will be handed out when they are in. o Parents and siblings can purchase a T-shirt on Line Dance Undergarments NUDE BRA: GIRLS AGES 10 and OLDER! o Most girls by age 10 should be wearing a nude bra under their class leotard, and recital costume. o Many girls under the age of 10 should be wearing one as well. A simple nude cami bra can be purchased through STEPS Academy or a place listed below. o Some costumes require a bra that has clear straps. You can purchase this style at Discount Dance. UNDERWEAR: IS NOT worn with costumes or leotards! o Girls should wear tights under their leotards for class in place of underwear o If your daughter wants to wear underwear you should purchase a full nude body camisole.
