2 Information Rules Common to All Scottish & British Schools Competitions Teams are welcome from 09.30am at Hallglen Sports Centre on Wednesday 13 th November. On arrival please ensure you register teams at registration point within the hall, inform organisers of any changes/withdrawals, routine music requests (music is not mandatory) and pick up participant numbers and pool information. Changing rooms are available for use. Team Leaders are response for showing the judge their own participant s number. Teams are encouraged to present to judges and individually before routines. Judges will signal when ready. Team leaders can support in vaults where necessary. Helpers will be at the event, to assist in accompanying teams, if you would like to use these people, please see the floor manager. Photos will be taken, please inform registration if parental consent has not been received. If teams are not competing initially please utilise warm-up area, otherwise competing teams can use both warm up area and apparatus they are due to compete on. A rolling warm-up may be used in event of time constraints. Once a team has started to compete there can be no substitutions in the event of an injury. The judge s decision is final, no protests are allowed. Judges should not be approached directly. Any queries regarding scores / judging should be directed through the Floor Manager Charlotte Main. Teams must be uniformly dressed. Girls - leotards (with or without matching shorts) or shorts and t-shirt. Girl s sleeveless leotards are permitted however straps should be a minimum of 2cm width. Boys - leotard and shorts/longs, or shorts and t-shirt. In the interest of health and safety and insurance, gymnasts must remove all jewellery and body piercing prior to the competition. Hair must be tied back off the face with long fringes secured with hair pins or clips. Coaches/teachers must be suitably qualified to the level of skills being performed by their gymnasts and must be present on the competition floor when their gymnasts are competing. Dress code for coaches/teachers - On the competition floor coaches/teachers must be appropriately dressed ie tracksuit or similar jeans are not permissible. Coaches/teachers must, in the interests of safety, also ensure they have removed their own jewellery. No gymnast may use any piece of apparatus without their coach/teacher being present. Coaches/teachers are responsible for the safety of their gymnasts both on and off the competition floor at all times. Late registration may result in disqualification General warm up will be in a designated area and is for jogging, stretching and certain skills but in the interest of health and safety no flighted skills are allowed. Please check with the Floor Manager of the competition if in doubt. Gymnasts will be given apparatus warm up time immediately before competing on each piece. MUSIC - Where music is allowed it must be at the beginning of a clean CD, clearly labelled with gymnasts name, number and school.. Ensure a back-up copy is available. Please refer to BSGA handbook for specific arrangements for British Finals, p2 if selection to represent Scotland. All routines performed to music (except boys) may be instrumental or orchestral but lyrics are not permitted. Please note that it is not possible to use original copies of music composed by: Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cirque Du Soleil, Disney Mandatory Requirement for gymnast progression. Please note gymnasts cannot compete at both Level 2 and Level 3. Any gymnast who competed at Level 3 in 2012/13 must remain at Level 3 The panel wishes to promote progression at all levels e.g. Pre-Level 1 > Level 1, Level 1 > Level 2 and Level 2 >Level 3 therefore it is mandatory that if a team has medalled at national finals then all gymnasts in the team must progress to the next level. Any gymnast (no matter how old) who is part of any national gymnastics squad, or has been, must compete at Level 3. 2
