3 OBSEERVATION POLICY For performance team parents we ask that you stay and only watch the first week of each month. Performance parents are welcome to return and come in for pick up, questions, or concerns during the last ten minutes of you child s last class. ATTENDANCE POLICY Grande Finalé Performance Teams have a mandatory attendance policy. Dancers may have up to three absences per year, but no absences of any sort in the week prior to a mandatory performance date. Dancers who miss Performance class not only hurt their own technique development, they also impact their entire team by being absent. SUMMER PROGRAM (Production Line) In summer, our Performance Teams each meet twice a week. There is only one team class over the summer for all members. Over summer, dancers will begin working on our fall production. Line members are required to take their level ballet class through the summer. Production Line carries through until June of the following year. Production Line is the class that provides the ending production number for the yearly recital. If you have any question about the Summer Performance Program, please call us. We ask that all known vacation dates be provided to us as early as possible, so we can plan our lessons accordingly based on expected attendance. Fees due by October 1st, What is Performance Team? Sixteen years ago, Grande Finalé began a program called Competition Team for those dancers who wanted more than just a weekly class and yearly recital. This program was developed for those dancers who were eager to learn and dedicated to becoming a better dancer and performer. Since the development of this program, Grande Finalé s Competition Team has grown and evolved in many ways. Eleven years ago, Grande Finalé changed the name of this program to Performance Team. We feel this is a better name, because it states what this program is about: Grande Finalé s Performance Teams are about giving our dancers expanded opportunities to perform, along with accelerated technical instruction. These experiences in turn develop a more well-rounded dancer. This program is not about winning competitions or trophies, it is about helping our dancers learn and become better dancers and performers. Because of this philosophy, Grande Finalé will be tailoring each Performance Team toward its dancers. In the following book you will find a brief description of your dancer s team, a list of mandatory performance dates, and several optional performance dates, as well as information on our Performance Team Program. Our goal for each of our Performance Team Members is that they walk away from this experience taking with them knowledge, performance experience, self-confidence, and friendships to last a lifetime.

4 WHAT DO PERFORMANCE TEAMS DO? Performance Team Members represent our studio at local competitions, conventions and other special events. Team Members need to take a minimum of three classes: Their Team class, their relevant technique, and ballet. WHAT DO LINE DANCERS DO? Production Line offers a further opportunity for dancers who wish to make an additional commitment on top of their Performance Team. To be invited to take part in Production Line, a dancer must have continued their participation in our Performance Team Program through the prior summer, as well as trying out for and participating in a regular Performance Team. Line dancers will be involved in putting on our Fall production, as well as, our beginning and closing numbers in the recital. WHAT DO COMPANY AND PRE PROFESSIONAL DANCERS DO? Company members represent our elite dance group, for dancers who have made a very serious commitment to dance and performance. Company space will be limited, and dancers will be hand-chosen out of Performance Teams by theinstructors based not only on technique, but also on commitment. All Company dancers will train in Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Ballet. 5 GENERAL FEES Performance team fees vary depending on what team your child is on. Our yearly Performance Team fee covers both their performance costume and their competition entry fees. ALL PERFORMANCE TEAM FEES DUE: OCTOBER 1ST, 2017 Please note that ALL Performance Team dancers will have a regular costume fee in December. Example of fees: Sally is on a Jazz Performance. She pays her $ performance fee in October. She still will owe $ for costumes due by December 1st to cover her recital jazz costume and ballet recital costume. The $ Performance Fee is above and beyond the normal costume fees. REQUIRED FUNDRAISING Each dancers is required to raise $ by Christmas Break. If a dancer does not raise the required $ the fee must be paid to the studio by Christmas Break. PERFORMANCE EVENTS Parents and Dancers: The following is a rough schedule of our Performance Events for the season. A more detailed description of each event will be sent home with our dancers as soon as we know more information. Events are subject to change if other opportunities arise for our dancers. Petite Performance Team A New Dance Experience Sunday, December 3, 2017 Dance Magic Spring 2018 (TBA) INTERESTED IN A SOLO, DUO, OR TRIO? Any Performance Team Member who is interested in pursuing a solo, duo, or trio (or private group!) is more than welcome to do so. Our requirement is that a dancer already be part of our Performance Team in that genre. If they are, dancers are welcome to schedule a standing private lesson with one or more instructors to work on and develop their own routine. Additional competition and costume fees will be assessed on an as needed basis, and will be in addition to normal Performance fees. If you are interested, please speak with the instructor of your choice to arrange a time. Also, please keep in mind all fees must be current in order for dancer s to compete at dance competitions/conventions. FUNDRAISING We understand that participation in our Performance Teams can be an expensive proposition for our families. To try and keep participation in our teams accessible for families of all incomes, Grande Finalé maintains a non-profit account for Performance Team Fundraiser Events. Throughout the year, we will be providing opportunities for Performance Team Members, and track how much money each student has fundraised to date. Fundraiser money may be used toward performance costs or tuition. Please keep in mind all Performance Team and Company Team dancers must fundraise $ by Christmas Break in order to pay for their yearly conventions. 6 PERFORMANCE TEAM STUDENT INFORMATION AND AGREEMENT PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION, SIGN ONE OF THE ENCLOSED COPIES AND RE- TURN IT TO BECKY, KEEP THE OTHER FOR YOUR OWN REFERENCE. MEMBERS MUST ATTEND THEIR PERFORMANCE CLASS WEEKLY AS WELL AS THEIR BALLET CLASS. MEMBERS MUST NOT MISS ANY MORE THAN 3 CLASSES OR PRACTICES DURING THE ENTIRE YEAR. TOO MANY ABSENCES WILL RESULT IN PROBATION AND POSSIBLE EXPULSION FROM THE TEAM. STUDENTS OR PARENTS MUST CALL IF A MEMBER MUST MISS CLASS DUE TO AN ILLNESS OR EMERGENCY. BALLET ABSENCES COUNT TOWARD THIS TOTAL. MEMBERS MAY NOT MISS CLASS THE WEEK BEFORE A PERFORMANCE OR COMPETITION. MEMBERS MUST ATTEND ALL MANDATORY WORKSHOPS, PERFORMANCES, AND COMPETI- TIONS. MEMBERS MUST PAY THEIR PERFORMANCE FEE BY OCTOBER 1 ST OR HAVE SET A PAYMENT PLAN UP WITH THE FRONT DESK. THIS FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE. THIS FEE COVERS THE PER- FORMANCE COSTUME AND ENTRY FEES INTO THE 3 COMPETITIONS MEMBERS WILL ATTEND. THIS FEE DOES NOT COVER RECITAL COSTUMES OR WORKSHOPS. MEMBERS MUST RAISE $ BY JANUARY 1ST. MEMBERS MUST WEAR DANCE SHOES AND APPROPRIATE DANCE ATTIRE TO CLASS. DANCERS MUST ALSO WEAR APPROPRIATE BALLET WEAR TO THEIR BALLET CLASS (PLEASE REFER TO STUDENT HANDBOOK). IF A MEMBER DOES NOT WEAR APPROPRIATE DANCEWEAR OR SHOES THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS WHICH WILL BE COUNTED AS A CLASS ABSENCE. MEMBERS MUST PRACTICE WEEKLY ROUTINES THEY HAVE BEEN TAUGHT. MEMBERS WILL ALWAYS BE POSITIVE AND ENCOURAGING TO OTHER MEMBERS OF THE PERFORMANCE TEAM. THIS INCLUDES ANY AND ALL POSTING OF ANY KIND ON SOCIAL MEDIA. DEFINITION OF MANDATORY : A DANCER MUST BE TO ALL COMPETITIONS AND SHOWS MARKED MANDATORY ON THE ATTACHED SCHEDULE. ONLY EXCEPTIONS REQUESTED IN WRITING AT THE TIME THIS CONTRACT IS SIGNED IN THE FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER WILL BE CONSIDERED (THIS IS INTENDED TO ACCOMMODATE PERFORMANCE TEAM MEMBERS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN HIGH SCHOOL). SOCIAL MEDIA: ALL SOCIAL MEDIA POSTINGS ABOUT TEAM, STUDIO,OTHER STUDIOS, TEAM MATES & FELLOW STUDENTS WILL ONLY BE POSITIVE. ONLY INTENTION IS TO BUILD UP OTHER TEAMMATES, FELLOW STUDENTS,STUDIO AND OTHER STUDIOS. ALL VIDEO POSTING WILL HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE STUDIO OR TEACHER. ALL VIDEOS WILL BE KEPT TO A MINIMUN OF 15 SECONDS OR LESS.
