1 Congratulations on your decision to try out for Tulane Cheerleading! Tryouts will take place Sunday, April 6th from 1:00 to 5:00pm in Devlin Fieldhouse. We look forward to welcoming new members to our cheer family. Here are a few things you should know: All of the below forms must be filled out and turned in at the beginning of tryouts, along with the Pre-Participation Physical form (separate file), a copy of your medical insurance card, a copy of your current class schedule, and grades from previous semester(s) (non-freshmen only). There is a $10 tryout fee (cash or check to Tulane Cheerleading), due at the beginning of tryouts. Female candidates should wear a crop top or sports bra, shorts, and cheerleading shoes. Hair and make-up should be game day ready. Male candidates should wear comfortable athletic clothing, cheer or tennis shoes, and should appear clean and well-groomed. 4 TULANE UNIVERSITY CHEERLEADING MEDICAL TREATMENT AUTHORIZATION AND LIABILITY RELEASE I,, do hereby agree to participate in the activity of cheerleading at Tulane University. In order that I may receive the necessary medical treatment in the event I may sustain injury or illness during participation in this activity, I hereby authorize the Spirit Squad Coordinator or other supervising adult to obtain medical treatment for myself for such an injury or illness during the activity, and I hereby hold Tulane University and its representatives harmless in the exercise of authority. I understand that this activity involves risk to me, the participant. I further acknowledge and understand that due to the nature of this activity, which involves inversion and rotation of the body, there is a possibility that I may sustain physical illness or injury (minimal, serious, or catastrophic), in connection with my participation, and I further release Tulane University and its representatives from any claims for personal illness or injury that I may sustain during participation in this activity. 6 Tulane University Cheerleading Video Submission Guidelines for Spring Tryouts Only If you are unable to attend spring tryouts, you have the option of sending in a video. If you are accepted to the squad by submitting a video, you will begin practicing in the fall and cheering during football season. Video submissions will be determined by the Spirit Squad Coordinator. The video should include: 1. Brief Introduction - Where are you from? What is your anticipated major? - Why would you like to be a member of Tulane Cheerleading? - What can you personally contribute to the team? - Cheerleading is a big commitment. How do you plan on managing your time between classes, studying, cheerleading, and other activities? - Tell us anything else you'd like us to know. 2. A cheer 3. A short dance (4-6 eight counts) 4.
