7 Tee Ball, Baseball, Softball Managers Description Managers are an intricate part of the overall success of the baseball program. In order to have a successful season for our players and parents, we need good coaches, managers, field prep folks and concession stand workers. You are all a part of the program and greatly appreciated. Below are the areas we ask managers to cover for their team. Assist the Head Coaches: Listen to players as they say their memory verse and help award patches at coaches request. Be ready to assist the coach in any area needed so that the coach can focus on teaching and instructing the team. May be asked to help with communication with parents as far as picture day, game changes, cancelations, practice changes, calling team members if absent, coordinating rides needed, etc.. Assist in the following areas unless the coach directs you otherwise. Uniforms: When uniforms come in help with verifying team order and help handout to players Team Pictures: Help with gathering the team together and ready for their team picture. Secure pictures when they come in and help hand out. Game Day Snacks: Organize a rotation for bringing in snacks on game days and communicate to the parents. Concession: Secure a copy of the concession stand workers schedule from league administrators, note when parents from your team are scheduled to work, and confirm they are able to make their shift. If the parent is unable to cover their shift, please help the parent find a sub or replacement from your team. Parents can switch or secure another adult to take their place serving whenever needed.
8 Handouts thru the season: Secure copies of misc. handouts from the coaches or league administrators to pass out to families and/or players. (Some handouts may be available at the concession stand area) Team Sponsor Plaque: (towards the end of the season) The manager is responsible to give out the Team Sponsor Plaque to their team sponsor. If it is someone on your team that is sponsoring plan a good time after a game to gather the team around and present the plaque making it a big deal. If they have to take the plaque to a work location, secure a plan or family to take the plaque to the sponsor s location with a player or two, in uniform, thanking them for sponsoring your team. Another suggestion would be to invite the sponsor to one of your games and make it special for the sponsor when you present the plaque to them. Sponsors are very special to our league and we can t thank them enough. Thank you for whatever you can do to show our appreciation. As you can see, managers have a lot of responsibilities. A good manager is truly a blessing to the team and to our league. Thank you for doing a great job in these areas. If we can help in any way, please let us know. 9 IRON-ON CROSS & BASEBALL PATCHES INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS 1. Children should not iron on the patches; use the iron only with an adult present. 2. Very Important: Preheat the iron for 5 minutes on medium (silk/wool) setting. The iron must be hot enough to melt the glue. 3. Press the pre-heated iron firmly to the patch and hold for 10 seconds as a test. It usually takes seconds to fully melt the glue, but irons vary, so be careful and don t burn or melt the fabric. If the glue isn t fully melted or if you handle the patch while it is still warm, the patch may start to come off the fabric. If this happens and you can see where the glue is not fully melted, turn the fabric inside out and heat the bottom of the patch through the fabric. Your heart will be closer to the glue from the inside. 4. You must let the patch set for a few minutes until it is cool before you handle it. 5. Once the patch is firm, you will be hard to remove it without damaging the fabric. 6. Patches can be ironed on most fabrics. They are most often ironed on jersey sleeves, backs or fronts or shorts. The only problem you might experience is if you have a textured fabric that the glue can t adhere to. In those cases or if you don t want them to be permanent, you can put a few stitches in each one or use fabric glue to hold it on. Patches probably won t stay on stretchy material such as socks or head bands unless you sew them on with a thread. IMPORTANT: Don t wash or dry the fabric that has patches glued onto it using extreme heat. Hot water or an extremely hot dryer can soften the glue and cause the patches to come off the fabric. Wash on a warm or cool setting, and dry on a medium or lower setting. A Great Tip: To prevent burning of the polyester or patches and to get better adhesion: First, position the patch in the desired location. Then turn the material inside out and iron through the material against the underside of the patch. This allows you to see areas where the glue was not fully contacting with the material, get better heating and overall a better application. The patches should stay on much better. Also washing in delicate or hand wash and lying flat or clothes line drying will help preserve the life of the patches. I have heard that a lot of parents stitch them on and it works great!

13 2014 Faith Community Youth T-Ball, Baseball & Softball Sponsorships We have a great opportunity for parents to help us secure the sponsors needed for our Youth T-Ball, Baseball & Softball Leagues. You can request to sponsor a particular team since each team needs an individual sponsor. Sponsorship is tax deductible Our sponsor donations go towards equipment, field supplies, umpire costs, trophies for the players at the end of the season, and much more. Sponsoring a team is a great way for a business to advertise within our league and to the entire community. If your company or the company you work for can sponsor a team please let us know by April 5 th and let us know which team you would prefer to sponsor. Cost: $300 You do not need to pay now. We will send an invoice to each sponsor with a return envelope. As part of your sponsoring, you will receive a sponsor plaque with a photo of the team for you to display at your business. All we need now is: (By April 3 rd ) (1) Yes, (Company name) can do it (2) Name of child whose team you want to sponsor (3) Company logo please in a friendly format. I will confirm with you your sponsorship and at that time secure the company s full address, the contact person, the best to use, and the company s number. Thank you for your consideration in sponsoring the 2014 Youth Tee Ball, Baseball, and Softball Leagues Questions? Please call Dave Esgar (765) ; desgar@faithlafayette.org
