BOX 48 WARWICK, NY December 2011 Dear Cheerleading Coach: You are cordially invited to participate in the Wildcat Cheer Challenge at Warwick Valley High School hosted by Warwick Valley Youth Cheerleading. Our cheerleading competition will be held th on Sunday, February 12P P, In the event of a snowstorm, the competition will be the following weekend on Sunday, February 19 thp. There will be two sessions. Session I will be for All-Star and Recreational teams. Registration begins at 8am. The competition will begin at 10am. Spectators will be admitted at 9am. Session II will be for School teams. Session II check in begins at 10am followed by at 12:30pm competition start time. Times are subject to changed based on registration numbers. All coaches will be ed their mat and performance times a week before the competition. No cheerleader may participate in more than one category with the exception of the All-Star divisions. Please accurately fill out the registration and team information forms completely to ensure that your team is placed in the correct category. A certificate of insurance for ALL teams must be sent in with the registration. Registration is $125 per team. Teams will perform one routine with a maximum time limit of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Cheers, chants, jumps, tumbling, stunts, music (1 minute and 30 seconds maximum), signs, poms, flags, etc., may all be used. All performances will be on a 42 by 54 cheer floor. 3 3 Rules and Requirements 1. No one person can participate in more than one team division (exception: All-Star team members). 2. All teams must perform one routine with a maximum time limit of 2½ minutes. Music may be used for a maximum limit of 1 minute 30 seconds, with exception to the All-Star division. A 10-point deduction will be assessed for going over the routine and/or music time limit. 3. Timing will begin with the first movement, voice, or note of music which ever comes first. There is to be no organized entry or exit. 4. All squads must adhere to NFHS safety guidelines for scholastic and recreational teams. All-Star teams will adhere to USASF safety guidelines. Penalties will be assessed at the discretion of the judges. Any team violating a safety rule or regulation will receive a 10-point per violation deducation from their final score. 5. Good sportsmanship must prevail throughout the entire competition. Decisions made by the judges are final and may not be appealed. A parent, participant, or fan may not question or approach a judge on the score sheet or legality decisions. Only coaches may ask for clarification of a ruling, scoring, or comment. 6. All routines must be performed on the mats. 7. Only signs, poms, flags, and megaphones may be used. No props can be used (ex: sunglasses, hats, glitter, etc.) 8. Absolutely no jewelry anywhere. This includes the navel, nose, and tongue rings. They cannot be taped and must be removed. There will be a 10-point deduction for any participants wearing jewelry. 9. Each team must provide a copy of their music and operate the music from our sound system. Please have at least one back up copy and make sure to test your music with our D.J. upon arrival. 10. We will be adhering to the Federation s NO GLITTER requirement. The competition will take place on the cheer floor in the new gym. In addition, there will be another area for warm-ups and tumbling. This schedule may vary due to registration numbers. Two sets of judges will be used to keep the competition on time. There will also be separate safety judges. You will be ed with an updated schedule a week before the competition.

5 Warwick Valley High School 89 Sanfordville Road Warwick, NY TFrom the South T TNew York State Thruway to Exit 16 (Harriman). Make left at exit. Follow Route 17 West to Exit 127 (Greycourt Road). Make left at the exit and proceed to traffic light. Diagonal left through traffic light onto Kings Highway (Green sign indicates Chester).T Continue on for approximately 3 miles. TGo through one light, up a large hill, and pass a farm on your right. Make the next Tright at the Sugar Loaf sign (although the sign indicates straight ahead for Warwick) and continue on Kings Highway until you get into Warwick. (Should you continue straight by accident and not go through Sugar Loaf, when you get to the end of road take a right go to end of road again take a left, and you will be in the same location as if you went through Sugar Loaf.) At the traffic light in Warwick (Mobil station on your right), you will make a left and continue on Main Street until you come to another light. At the light, make a right onto West Street. T*Stay on West Street and proceed through next traffic light. Middle School is on the left followed by the High School. Enter the last parking lot on your left hand side that is the main entrance to the High School. Follow the entrance to the right and park in the back of the building. You will enter through the new the gym s doors. T TFrom the northt TDirections to the High School from the Thruway from the North (Newburgh Area):T Take the New York State Thruway south to Exit 17, Newburgh. Follow the signs for I-84 west. Take Route 84 west to Exit 4E (Route 17 east). Follow Route 17 east to Exit 124, Goshen/Florida. At the end of the exit ramp, make a left onto Route 17A south. Proceed on 17A south through the Village of Florida. Continue on 17A (also Route 94) into the Village of Warwick. At the second traffic light in Warwick, make a right onto West Street and continue on until you come to a traffic light (about a mile). Follow directions above.* Directions to the High School from the George Washington Bridge (North) Take the George Washington Bridge to the Palisades Parkway north. 12 10 Stick-It Stunting Procedures While we are waiting for the judges to tally the scores, Stick-It will begin. Each time a cheerleader enters the floor to participate they must pay $1. We will announce the category, participants will come onto the mat, and pay their entrance fee. We will announce 5,6,7,8 ready begin. Hit your stunt. When you drop, you re out. The last three standing stunt groups will receive individual ribbons. Warwick Coaches and affiliates are the judges and all decisions are final. Any unsportsmanlike conduct from cheerleaders, parents, and/or coaches will result in immediate disqualification from further stunting. We will continue until the judges are back with the results.
