8 Lackland ISD E-News Spirit Week / Pasta Page 8 of 12 Spirit Week! By: Kristina Bartosh, Freshman The week of Jan th is Spirit week at Stacey, which includes preparation for the pep rally, homecoming games and homecoming dance which takes place on Saturday, Jan. 31st. throughout the chaotic week, in which everyone is running around finishing up last minute, all of the students from grades 7th through 12th dressed up each day accordingly. On Monday, students dressed in camouflage to show we re military children. On Tuesday, students partnered up with a friend or sibling for twin day. Way-back-Wednesday consisted of everyone dressing as either a Greaser or a Soc, a reference to S. E. Hinton s The Outsiders. Thursday students was neon day and on Friday everyone will show their school spirit by wearing red, white, and blue. The Stacey pep rally is 2:40 in the gym, followed by basketball games vs. Brackett. The homecoming dance will be in the cafeteria on Saturday from 8:00 to 11:00 pm. Even with the chaos and stress for homecoming, we still have enough time to show school spirit and have a little fun. Lackland Elementary is completing its third and final week of raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through its Pasta for Pennies drive which is sponsored by Olive Garden. Through the first two weeks, the school has raised $781.22! The class that raises the most money will receive an all you can eat spaghetti lunch from Olive Garden. Mrs. Torre s 6 th grade class is currently leading the way with $87.55 raised! Ms. Archibald s first graders are not far behind having raised $85.49!
