4 Pertinent Deadlines Tuesday, March Deadline for institutions to submit (FAX and send) a regional qualifying score sheet to the appropriate regional advisory committee chair (Doug Byrnes) and the appropriate regional meet director (Steve Pyne). Monday, March 21 Regional Participant Manuals posted to NCAA web site. Saturday, March 26 Deadline for scores used for qualification purposes. Sunday, March 27 Deadline for institutions to report scores from meets conducted between March Monday, March 28 Selection to the regional championships announced. Selection information will be available on the NCAA Web site (ncaa.org/membership/champadmin/gymnastics/index.html) not later than 3 p.m. (EST) Tuesday, March Deadline for institutions that have qualified for the Regional Championships to accept or decline the invitation to participate. (NOTE: Not later than Noon local time of host.) And submit Championship entry forms. (Changes must be made in writing and not later than departure from campus.) Competition Rotation The NCAA office will conduct a random draw to determine the competitive rotation of the team, all around competitors and individual event specialists. As competitors arrive at each event for competition, each team will be allotted a 3- minute touch warm-up with a minimum of two (2) vaults per athlete (including an alternate). The all-around and event specialist competitors will take her own 30-second touch after the team s. On vault and floor only, the all-around and event specialist competitors may add her own 30-second warm-up to the team s three minutes and warm-up with the team. If an injury or equipment failure during the three-minute touch prohibits a gymnast from warming up, those who have not had the opportunity to warm up will be given 30 seconds (per gymnast). If an injury or equipment failure during the 15-minute warm-up prohibits a team from completing its warm up, the team will be given the time that is owed (e.g., if an injury occurs five minutes into the warm up, the team will be given the remaining 10 minutes). Competitors music will be permitted only during their respective rotations for floor exercise. March-in Teams will march in and line up in alphabetical order by institution, followed by the all-around competitor and event specialist assigned to rotate with the team. Teams and individual competitors will be announced as they march in. 5

Participants Hotel Fifteen (15) double rooms have been reserved for each team at the hotel listed below. Each institution is responsible for contacting the hotel directly (call the in house reservations or toll free ). Each participating institution is responsible for making its own special arrangements for meeting rooms, meals and other functions. The hotel must receive reservations by 12:00 NOON Mountain Time, Wednesday, March 30 th or rooms will be released. This form must be returned to the regional meet director (Steve Pyne) by March 29, Changes to the 15 student-athletes designated on the entry form must be made in writing to the meet director and in no event later than the institution s departure from campus. Team An issued credential may not be given to another team member or individual. The maximum number of credentials allotted is: Fifteen (15) participating student-athletes and eight (8) nonparticipation student-athletes (e.g., coaches, trainer, physician, administrator, manager, SID), for a total of twenty-three (23). Individuals Institutions with one or two participants may list up to three non-participants; institutions with three or more participants may list up to four non-participants. In addition, one credential may be issued to an administrator. Coaches and trainers of individual participants only may trade-out credentials so that the appropriate coaches and/or trainer have access to the floor. At no time will there be more than the allotted number of non-athletes on the floor at any one time. Tickets Each participating team is guaranteed a minimum of sixty (60) tickets all of which shall be at courtside. Ninety (90) additional tickets will be available elsewhere in the facility. 9 Sports Information The following information should be faxed or ed to Liz Abel, Utah sports information director, by Wednesday, March 30 th FAX to or to 1) Alphabetical roster including name, year, height, hometown 2) Season results 3) Top all-arounder(s) and her top score(s)list all all-arounders who have scored over a ) Head coach's name, year and record 5) Name of SID who will be attending meet 6) address of SID who will be attending meet 7) FAX and phone of SID who will be attending meet Photo - Video Policy Institutions are permitted to videotape championship competition by their team or individual student-athletes for archival, coaching, or instructional purposes. Each institution is permitted to use only one camera and may videotape only that portion of the competition in which it participates. The videotapes may not be used for any commercial purposes. Videotaping may be done from designated areas only. To arrange for video camera space an institutional representative should contact Liz Abel, Sports Information Director at Institutions may not videotape from the competition floor. Cheerleaders, Mascots, Bands and Banners Band members, not to exceed 25 members, who are in uniform and performing at the championships, will not be charged admission to the competition. The host institution must designate seating off the competitive floor. Bands, or any component thereof, may play only during the 15 minutes before the competition when the floor is cleared, the 3-minute touches, and 15 minutes following the awards ceremony. In the event there is more than one band, the meet director will divide the 15 minutes and the 3- minute touches equally among the bands. The host will play last with all others performing in alphabetical order. The band MAY NOT interfere with the announcer. FIGHT SONGS MAY NOT BE PLAYED DURING THE 3 MINUTE TOUCHES Any banners other than the approved NCAA and television and radio banners may not be posted on arena walls without the permission of the NCAA Women s Gymnastics Committee or its designated representative. Hand-held team banners are permissible as long as they do not interfere with the competition or spectator s views. Banners advertising equipment or manufacturers are prohibited. 8

10 Training Room Each participating institution and individual will be assigned a host athletic trainer. The host athletic trainer will make arrangements for any training room and/or medical requests. There are two training room areas available. The HPER training room is a fully equipped training area with ice, treatment tables, hydro collators, whirlpools, EGS and ultrasound modalities. Taping tables are also available. The Huntsman Center training room, located in the competitive arena, is a limited use facility with a taping table, ice, and a portable EGS and ultrasound modality. For any other questions or concerns please contact Tom Iriye, ATC at: Dumke Gymnastics Center Training Room (801) Home (801) Emergency Care In the case of an emergency, two EMT s and an ambulance will be on site during all warm-up, training, and competitive sessions. Both an orthopedic physician and a family practice physician will be on site during all competitive sessions, and on-call during other times of the day or evening. University Hospital The University Hospital is located at 50 North Medical Drive, which is approximately 1 mile Northeast of the competitive arena. Please refer to the campus map for more details. Locker Rooms The locker rooms are located in the HPER complex and will be assigned by random draw. Uniforms and Numbers All competitors in the National Collegiate Women s Gymnastics Championships must wear exclusively the official uniform of their institution during the actual competition, warm-ups in the competition gymnasium and during awards ceremonies. Gymnasts on the competition floor for practice, warm-up and competition are required to wear one-piece leotards that include matching trunks and may include matching sports bras. For NCAA regional and national championships competition, long-sleeve, Short sleeve or sleeveless, one-piece leotards with matching (ie., color of leotard or nude in color) trunks are required. There will not be a deduction for a matching sports bra that is exposed. Backless leotards are permissible. For practice, shorts and T-shirts are not acceptable unless they are the institution s official uniform (e.g., all gymnasts have the same color and style). When a team (or individual qualifiers from the same school) is on the competition floor, the competitors must be in identical team uniform. During the individual competition, individual leotards may be worn. Competition numbers assigned to each gymnast are considered a part of the official uniform and must be worn on the backs of all gymnasts leotards and other apparel during all practices, timed warm ups and competitive sessions. Two sets of numbers will be provided and MAY NOT BE ALTERED IN ANY WAY. 9

11 A gymnast not wearing matching (i.e. nude or color of leotards) will be considered out of uniform and will be required to conform to the uniform rule prior to competing. Officials The NCAA Women s Gymnastics Committee will select all officials, sixteen judges and a meet referee. The Meet referee will be present at all practice sessions on Friday. Results The results of the meet will be verified by the meet referee and the NCAA scoring director immediately following the meet. The results will be declared official 12 hours after the start of the meet. Coaches signatures are not required on the score sheets. Financial Penalties The NCAA Women's Gymnastics Committee may assess a financial penalty against an institution for failure of any of its representatives to adhere to the policies and procedures governing the administration of the competition. This includes failure to comply with the procedures and deadlines for submitting score sheets, schedules and entry forms for qualification and other materials necessary for the efficient administration of the competition. 14 NCAA WOMEN S GYMNASTICS REGIONAL MEET TRAVEL FORM As soon as the regional teams and individuals have been selected, the regional meet directors will fax this form to the coaches of those teams and individuals. 15 2005 NCAA Women s Gymnastics Championships Entry Form * Complete this form if qualify for regionals & again if qualify for nationals. Team Participants: Each team may designate a maximum of 23 individuals to receive credentials. Of this 23, a maximum of 15 may be designated for gymnasts. 7 of the remaining 8 credentials may be designated at the institution s discretion for non-participants, and the 8 th credential for an administrator. Non-participants must have a specific affiliation with the team. Individual Participants: One or two participants from same institution list each participant and maximum three non-participants. Three or more participants from same institution list each participant and maximum four nonparticipants. If two or more participants from an institution qualify into the same session, an additional credential may be issued for another assistant coach.
