2017 EGW USPSA Area 8 Championship August 24th 27th, 2017
Greetings shooters! Welcome again to Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club and the 2017 EGW USPSA Area 8 Championship match! We have a great match to shoot thanks to Bill Duda and the superb match staff he has put together again this year. The stages are all challenging, with a few unique ideas that only a mad stage designer can dream up. Bill and his staff have put in many hours to design and build this match for all of us to enjoy, so please thank him and the volunteer staff who have worked so hard to put this match on the ground. As you have heard in the past from me and others, this sport is made of volunteers so please be courteous to everyone, whether staff or fellow competitors, and please respect the host club s range and facilities so that we can continue to enjoy this fantastic range. This year, the sponsors really stepped up and provided great awards and prizes for the match, so please visit them on Facebook, their web pages, and in person to let them know how much we, the shooting community, appreciate their support and their innovation of equipment for our sport. And when you make an order, please thank them for supporting us. It is our continued business that drives them to support us year in and year out. As this is my first year as the Area Director, please stop me when you see me and introduce yourself. While I know many of you, I don t know you all. If you re looking for me, try the dunk tank near Chrono. We ll have a shooting challenge set up to test your skills in exchange for a small donation to the junior camps. Enjoy the match, shoot well, and have fun! Kevin McPhee Area 8 Director

Brianna Ennis Quartermasters..... Joseph Roberts & Dennis Dill Match Promotions.. Tim Perry Vendor Coordinator Helaine Buckley Staff Coordinator. Mark Evans Registration Coordinator Artie Haglich Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club 8100 Gun Club Rd New Tripoli, PA Condition of Entry By completing your registration, and competing, in the 2017 EGW USPSA Area 8 Championship, you attest that you have read and that you understand these match regulations and policies, that you have read and that you understand the current USPSA Rulebook, and further, that you agree to comply with them.
Match Safety Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club is a Cold Range. Guns are to be loaded only on the firing line under the direct supervision of a Range Officer. Guns are to be unloaded and holstered, or bagged, when off the line, unless in a Safety Area. All Safety Areas are clearly marked. Your car IS NOT a Safety Area. Gun handling at your car is prohibited and violations are subject to match disqualification (see Rules & ). Do not climb on the berms or cross any safety line. Children and pets should be controlled at all times for their personal safety. All competitors must wear eye and hearing protection while on the line. Eye protection is required to be worn by everyone while on the range. Spectators are strongly encouraged to wear hearing protection while observing the shooting. Club Facilities Restrooms: Portable toilets are located in various places on the range property. The Club s permanent restroom facilities are closed for the duration of the match. Parking: Parking for competitors is available close to the range bays. The roped off and signed areas meant for staff are off limits to competitor vehicles. Please see the range map below. Procedure and Protocol Sanctioning: The match has been approved by USPSA as a Sanctioned Level III Match. The match will be scored with seven divisions. Scores will be posted to Practiscore.com throughout the match and on the USPSA web site at the conclusion of the match. Rules: The 2017 EGW USPSA Area 8 Championship will be administered under the USPSA Handgun Competition Rules, February 2014 edition, plus Appendix D7 (Carry Optics Provisional), February 2017 edition. Popper Calibration: Any challenge to a score or penalty must be appealed to the Range Officer by the competitor (or his or her delegate) prior to the subject target being painted, patched, or reset, failing which such challenges will not be accepted. Match Scoring: If a competitor has a question regarding his or her posted score, they should first recheck the score sheet. If there is a problem, contact the Stats Officer. We will do everything humanly possible to avoid errors, but the competitor is ultimately responsible for the accuracy of his or her score. Please check posted scores before departing the range.
Arbitration Requests: The arbitration fee is $100. Any competitor wishing to arbitrate should ask the Range Master for an Arbitration Request Form and ask for assistance in retaining evidence. The form, together with the arbitration fee, must be completed and returned to the Range Master within one hour of the time noted on the score sheet. Preparation: Competitors are expected to come to the line with their gun holstered and ammunition in place when it is their time to shoot. Rain Covers: Paper targets will be covered with transparent plastic, or overhead shelters, if there is rain and if ordered by the Range Master. The plastic covers, or overhead shelters, will be removed when the rain stops and when ordered by the Range Master. Lost Brass: As a matter of efficiency, all brass collected from the range will be deposited in the designated range pails. Brass is distributed to the staff at the conclusion of the match in consideration for their hard work. Scheduling: Competitors must compete for score according to the published match and squad schedule. A competitor who is not present at the scheduled time and date for any stage may not attempt to shoot the stage without the prior approval of the Match Director. If a competitor is not at the squad stage briefing for a stage, that competitor will receive a zero score for that stage (see Rule 6.5.1). On occasion, stages will clear squads early. If your entire squad is available and the CRO approves, the squad will be allowed to shoot ahead of schedule only on the scheduled date. Inspection: When the entire squad is assembled at the scheduled time, a brief stage walkthrough will be given, followed by a five minute inspection and question period. Shooters at their scheduled stage may negotiate obstacles only during the five minute inspection period. The ondeck competitor only may negotiate obstacles while the previous competitor s targets are being scored. Early inspection of a stage is permitted by competitors only if a squad is not currently on the course of fire and if permission is granted by stage staff. Competitors are not authorized to activate or touch stage props until actively engaging targets to complete the stage. Eye and Ear Protection: All competitors must wear eye and ear protection while on the line. Eye protection is required to be worn by everyone while on the range. Food and Drink: Lunch will be provided for all competitors as part of the match fee. The caterer on site will also have additional food for sale, including for non competing spectators. There will be coolers on the range with bottled water for everyone. There will be staff coolers marked for their use only. The caterer will not be able to accommodate specific dietary restrictions or needs. Registration and Sign In: If a competitor wishes to change his or her division or squad at any time after August 9, the competitor is required to donate $10 to the junior camps for the change to be made. This includes changes made at sign in, which will occur beginning at 0700 on the day the competitor shoots and ends when the match safety briefing begins. If a competitor fails to sign in, he or she will be required to seek approval from the Match Director before shooting.
Match Awards and Prizes The 2017 EGW USPSA Area 8 Championship will have trophy awards for division, class and category winners. A competitor may receive all trophies which she or he merits. Merchandise and discount offers which were donated by our generous sponsors will be distributed by random drawings and handed out at the safety briefing. Competitors must be present at the safety briefing, at the scheduled time, to claim prizes. Otherwise, the drawn prize will be offered to a present competitor. All trophies will be awarded in the seven divisions (Limited, Limited 10, Open, Production, Revolver, Carry Optics, and Single Stack), in accordance with the following criteria: By division: High overall: 1 trophy for each 10 competitors in the division, down to fourth place Area 8 Champion: 1 trophy * Area 8 Ladies Champion: 1 trophy* High in class: 1 trophy for each 10 competitors in each class from M through D, down to third place High Lady ** High Super Senior ** High Senior ** High Junior ** High Military ** High Law Enforcement ** * Must be legal resident of Area 8 (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Virginia). 8 Word from the Match Director Hello competitors, I sure hope everyone has been doing his or her dry fire, live fire, and match practice. We, here in Area 8, intend to challenge you at our championship match. Below, you ll find the stage descriptions for our little 13 stage match. My hope is that you ll see a few things that will make you want to hit the range in the next couple of weeks, and a few others that you don t know how to practice for. Either way, this will be as much fun as it will be challenging, and I look forward to seeing everyone on the range. There will not be shooters bags this year, but the products donated with the bags in mind will be made available to you. We will be running the prize giveaway like we did last year. That means you need to be on the range, at the safety briefing on time to claim your prize. You will receive a prize card that you will need to turn in at the registration building, when you have time, for your actual prize. Any prizes not claimed will be given away to the crew that stays to break the match down and put everything away. We will have water available on the range to help you stay hydrated and lunch is included in your match fee. If you are bringing friends, please remember to bring food or money to buy food for them. If you have some special dietary need, please bring what you need as our caterer cannot accommodate. We have a substantial prize pool this year. Brianna Ennis has pulled together a top notch sponsor list and I would like everyone to consider their contribution to our sport when you go to make your next purchase. My staff have a hell of a job to do for the 4 days of the match. Please remember that they are all volunteers who receive little more than high fives and handshakes as a show of appreciation. While this show is appreciated, the best way to show your respect for them is to not make them ask for help resetting stages. Getting the stages turned around quickly moves your day along more quickly and gets my staff back to the hotel earlier. Please be considerate and remember that shooting is a small part of your participation in this sport. After the match, you will receive a survey for your thoughts on the match. I urge you to fill it out, but please let me know if you have a comment during the match. I won t be able to get you an Alpha in exchange for a Mike, but otherwise I want to be sure you have a chance to have a good time and perform at your best. I ll see everyone bright and early on the range! Bill Duda Match Director
