1 Daily Student Announcements Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 Homecoming dance tickets on sale The flash sale continues today for the Kimball Homecoming Dance, Under the Lights, from 9 to 11 p.m., Oct. 14. Tickets are on sale in the bookkeeper's window for $3 with ASB and $5 without ASB. After today, prices go up to $5 and $7, respectively. Students who want to bring a guest from another school must fill out a guest form available at the bookkeeper s window. All guest forms must be returned by Oct. 12. Homecoming Night Rally Oct. 12 Kimball s annual Homecoming Night Rally will be at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 12, at Don Nicholson Stadium. Students can help their class earn spirit points in their homecoming class competition. Students must possess their student ID to be admitted to the rally. Homecoming Parade Oct. 14 Kimball s third annual Homecoming Parade begins at 3 p.m., Oct. 14, along the streets of downtown Tracy. View the Homecoming floats, court, and student groups. Students, don't miss out on the chance to help your class earn spirit points for the Homecoming class competition. GSA to tie-dye GSA members are urged to bring a white cotton T-shirt to the Oct. 12 meeting after school in E3. Members will be tie-dying club shirts, creating a club banner, and making a final list of participants in the Homecoming parade. New members are welcome to attend. Wrestlers meet today There will be a mandatory meeting today for anyone who is interested in high school wrestling. The meeting will be after school in G1. Discussed will be the start of conditioning, practice, the season schedule, grades, physicals, and team apparel among other things. Girls can participate in this sport. Students, challenge yourselves and try something new and join Coach Mullen for a great season of wrestling. Last powder puff practice today Final practice of Kimball s junior and senior girls powder puff teams will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m., today. It is in preparation for the annual game, set for 7:15 p.m., Monday, at Don Nicholson Stadium. Powder puff cheerleaders practice The Powder Puff Cheer Team will practice from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, in the cafe. MHO meets Friday There will be a short meeting for the Mental Health Organization 12:45 p.m., Friday, in G6. HYPE talks college aid Come to HYPE club meetings every Thursday after school in D4 for tutoring services. Tutors are welcome to attend. Sophomores building float Kimball s Class of 2019 is having float building parties every Tuesday and Thursday, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in N1. There will be food, fun, and activities. Class of 2018 constructing for Homecoming Come out and help the Class of 2018 juniors build their Homecoming float and decorations. Builders will meet in F10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., every Tuesday and Thursday.

2 Senior class to build float Join the Class of 2017 involvement to work on the Homecoming float every Tuesday and Thursday, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in G3. Wanted: students for 17 yearbook photo Kimball s yearbook staff members are seeking students to be in a major yearbook photo. The photo shoot will be at 7:15 a.m., Tuesday, on the football field at Don Nicholson Stadium. Students will line up in the shape of a giant "17". This photo is to be a major focal point in the yearbook. CSU application workshop Tuesday A California State Universities application workshop for seniors only will be during fifth period, Tuesday, in the Career Center. Interested seniors register by Friday in the Career Center. Banquet helpers sought The Pregnancy Resource Center of Tracy is hosting its annual banquet Oct. 18 and are looking for student volunteers to serve. The event takes place from 5 to 8:30 p.m., at the Holy Family Center, W. Valpico Road, in Tracy. Writing, art, music judged Kimball s Literary Journal October Contest is open to the entire school. Theme for October is Acceptance. Writing must be short fiction or poetry that is no more than 1,000 words. Art and music should be ed, with music entries no longer than two minutes. Frosh sell juice cards Kimball s Class of 2020 is selling Jamba Juice cards for $10 during lunch. Please see freshman class treasurer Amaya Lyczweski or another class officer for more information. Cell phone ban in bathrooms Kimball s cell phone ban in the classroom extends to the hallways and bathrooms when students are out of the classroom during classroom hours. Apply for pathway cord now The deadline to submit a pathway cord application has been extended for seniors and juniors. Go to the career center during both lunches to attain more information. Seniors, this is your final chance. Pink Out in the Jungle Join other students in the Jungle at Don Nicholson Stadium at Friday night s football games to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink to show support. Kelley festival needs helpers George Kelly School s Fall Festival, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 14, needs student volunteers to man some of the booths. They would not be handling any money, just taking tickets, serving food, or working at one of the game booths. Students need to stay within the boundary blue lines during lunch time. No student should be crossing the blue line unless he or she has a pass to attend a club meeting or are going to the library. Youth in Government Day seeks participants Youth in Government Day 2016 is Oct. 27. Students who would like to participate in a job shadow for the day, should see Mrs. Sillivan in the Career Center to obtain the necessary packet. Last day to apply is Sunday. Signups sought for Traina tutors Kimball s community service project is English, math, and science tutoring for sixth- through eighthgraders at Traina Elementary School. Tutoring will be offered after school Monday through Thursday at Traina. Registration of volunteer tutors can be completed through Mr. Edwards in Kimball s counseling office. Anti-Bullying poster contest ending Tracy is a No-Bully Zone don t be mean behind the screen or on the scene is the theme of Tracy Unified School District s anti-bullying poster contest that ends Friday. There is a limit of one entry per student. Each entry must: Be the participant s original artwork. Be submitted on 12-inch-by-18-inch poster paper. Have no photography or trademarked/copyrighted characters. Be submitted to the school office on or before Friday. Have the entry form completed and taped to the back of the poster. Winning entries will be selected on the basis of creativity, originality, fulfillment of contest guidelines, and expression of contest theme. Each school site will judge all entries based on the criteria. District winners will be announced at the Red Carpet Celebration on Nov. 9. Boys basketball team manager/video coordinator Kimball s varsity boys basketball team is looking for a team manager/video coordinator. CSU East Bay Preview Day on Oct. 15 Cal State East Bay is hosting a preview day from 8 a.m. to noon, Oct. 15, on the Hayward campus. Students are invited to attend the annual open house for prospective freshmen and transfer students. Tours of the campus and residence halls will be available as well as information on the latest admission requirements and financial aid information for For registration and event information, visit Key Club fundraiser with Johnny's Diner Kimball s Key Club's first fundraiser of the school year is with Johnny's Diner, 2213 N. Tracy Blvd. Buy a $10 or $20 ticket from a Key Club officer or member to spend on anything on the menu. Johnny's has burgers, milkshakes, ice cream, and much more. A $20 ticket purchasers also receive a free scoop of ice cream Don't leave books in class If a book is checked out to you, it is your responsibility to keep it with you and in good condition. Do not leave books behind in a classroom, even if your teacher says, You can leave your books here and points out a "safe spot." Students are responsible for any books checked out to them, not their teachers. True Crime books have arrived in library Last year, students asked for more True Crime books. The district librarian bought lots of them. Now, it's your turn. Come to the library to check them out. The books are on display near the seating area across from the front counter. And if this is not your kind of book, come by and tell the librarians what kind you want them to buy. Orders are placed every month. Wear your lanyard; show your ID Jaguars, be sure to have your lanyards and IDs on at all times on campus. Block K forms available The Tracy Breakfast Lions Community Service Block K forms and agreement are available in Kimball s Career Center. In order to be enrolled in the program, agreements must be signed by the participating student and parent no later than the Oct. 14 deadline. Within one school year, students must complete 100 hours of documented hours that meet the Tracy Breakfast Lions guidelines. Volunteer time must be

5 outside of school hours without compensation in any way. A maximum 75 hours of credit will be given for one volunteer activity. At least two different activities are required. There are very specific guidelines and deadlines to this program. Please come by the Career Center during lunch or after school to pick up the forms as well as the required agreement. Please see Mrs. Sillivan to explain and answer questions. Bandanas only on Spirit Fridays Jaguar students, remember orange and leopard bandanas are only allowed on spirit Fridays! Parking Permits Students, please remember to park in the student section of the parking lot and be sure to have your parking pass visible. Tardy bell policy revised Remember, don t be tardy! Be sure to get to all of your classes on time and be in your seat by the time the bell rings. Athletes in action Kimball s cross country teams run this afternoon in the Valley Oak League cluster meet at Legion Park in Modesto. The Jaguar girls volleyball teams host Central Catholic High of Modesto today in the Athletic Complex. The freshmen play at 4 p.m., followed by the junior varsity at 5 p.m., and the varsity at 6:30 p.m.
