1 2018 St. Michael the Archangel Youth Summer Camps Summer sports camps are exciting opportunities for youth to interact with high school coaches and players. Learn about the St. Michael the Archangel community and experience our team spirit while participating in activities during the break from school. Each camp fee is $65 unless otherwise specified. All camps will be held at St. Michael the Archangel unless otherwise noted. Each camp has a minimum number of participants required so we reserve the right to cancel a camp if there are an inadequate number of registrants. BASEBALL Coach Scott Lero slero@smacatholic.org May 29-June 1 9am - 12pm Grades 3-8 Camp will be run by head coach Scott Lero and the SMA baseball staff. Coach Lero enters his 12th season as a high school baseball coach. This camp will emphasize skill development in hitting, throwing, fielding and catching. In-game strategy will also be stressed as each camp day will end with live scrimmages or game situations. BASKETBALL (BOYS) Coach Mark Scanlon mscanlon@smacatholic.org June am - 11am Grades 4-8 The camp will stress fundamentals and basketball skill work. Coach Scanlon has 38 years coaching experience and enters his 2nd season as Coach Scanlon at St. Michael the Archangel.

2 BASKETBALL (GIRLS) Coach Mary Kroening June :30am - 12:30pm Grades K-4th 1:00pm - 3:00pm Grades 5-8th Coach Kroening is entering her 17th as a basketball coach. Coach Kroening played for O Hara High School and Rockhurst University. In 2010, Coach Kroening was named Coach of the Year for the WCC. In 2010, she coached her team to a 3rd place finish at the State Tournament. She has a passion and love for the game of basketball. She has coached numerous players who have played at the collegiate level. She is proud of her former and current athletes and the pride they have when they play basketball. If you love the game and want to have fun...we want to see you at our camp!! Fundamental skills will be stressed in ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, defense and team play CHEER & DANCE Coaches Melissa Wiehn ( mwiehn@smacatholic.org ) & Christine Loftis (cloftis@smacatholic.org) June pm-3pm Grades K-8 This camp will feature skill instruction for both cheer and dance, as well as fun games and empowering activities. The cheer component of the camp will focus on motion technique, voice projection, and encouraging, team-supportive cheers and chants. The dance component of the camp will feature different routines for sidelines, hip hop, pom, and jazz. Dance technique instruction will be given in the areas of turns, leaps, stage presence and formations. Cheer Coach Melissa Wiehn has over 15 years of high school coaching experience, first at O Hara High School, now at St. Michael. The Guardian cheer program nurtures school pride and team spirit within the SMA community through cheers, chants, and stunts, while fostering confidence, teamwork, and virtue for squad members. Dance Coach Christine Loftis earned her B.F.A. in Dance from UMKC and a minor in speech/theater from Avila University. She has choreographed and directed numerous productions over the decades throughout the Kansas City area. Coach Loftis takes great pride in fostering her Dance Team to be excellent performers and role models within their school and community. FOOTBALL Coach Kevin Page kpage@smacatholic.org July :00pm-2:00pm Grades 2-8 Coach Page is entering his 20th year as a Varsity football coach. After graduating from Truman State University, Coach Page began his coaching career at Hickman Mills High School where he served as Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator, and coached every position except Wide Receivers. In

3 2008, Coach Page was named the Head Football Coach at Raytown High school. Throughout his career, Coach Page s mission has been to provide student-athletes with a structured program and an environment where they can maximize their full potential. While he is very proud of the numerous players he has coached that have received college scholarships and accolades for football, Coach Page is very proud of the countless players that have taken the great lessons the game teaches to become winners at the game of life. Fundamental skill development along with position specific work in all phases of the game. Athletes will be grouped by grade (determined by numbers) and the instruction will be tailored to the skill level of the athlete. Snacks, T-Shirts, and Award Certificates will be provided. GOLF (Coed) Coach Kyle Sellnow ksellnow@smacatholic.org May 29-June 1 1:00pm - 3:30pm Grades 1-8 Location: Unity Village Golf, Fairway Drive, Unity Village, MO 64065, (816) The camp will be run by Kyle Sellnow, head coach of the boys and girls golf teams at SMA. Coach Sellnow is entering his seventh season as head golf coach. The camp will introduce young players to swing mechanics, chipping, putting, as well as the rules and etiquette of the game. Virtue, integrity and respect of others are some of the most important aspects of life. This camp will encourage kids not only to grow in their ability to play the game of golf, but also to grow into honorable young men and women. SOCCER (BOYS) Coach Rob Putthoff rputthoff@smacatholic.org June am-1130am Grades K-8 In his first year as the Head Coach of the St. Michael the Archangel Men s Soccer Team, Coach Putthoff helped lead the team to it s first District Championship. Coach Putthoff has more than 20 years of coaching experience and has been heavily involved in youth soccer development in the Lee s Summit, MO area where he lives. He currently holds a United States Soccer Federation National F Coaching License, and National Federation of High Schools Coaches Certificate. Coach Putthoff prides himself on creating a positive experience for his players, and the opportunity to help them grow into quality young men on and off the field. The boys soccer camp will focus on the development of the individual player, so that he may reach his maximum potential. The camp will focus on the development of technical skills, shooting and finishing, passing, receiving and turning, defense and movement without the ball. SOCCER (GIRLS) Coach Mary Kroening mkroening@smacatholic.org June :30am - 11:30am Grades K-8 Coach Kroening is entering her 10th as a soccer coach. In 2012, Coach Kroening was named Coach of the Year for Class 1 KC Regional. She has coached teams who have several conference and district championships. She coached her 2013 team to 3rd place in the State Tournament. She has a passion and love for the game of soccer. She has coached numerous players who have played at the collegiate

4 level. She is proud of her former and current athletes and the pride they have when they play soccer. If you love the game and want to have fun...we want to see you at our camp!! The girls soccer camp will focus on team tactics and individual and team skills including dribbling, passing, kicking, ball control and heading.

5 VOLLEYBALL Coach Sheridan Zarda June 4-7 Grades K-4: 8am - 10am Grades 5-8: 10am - 12pm In the first year as Head coach, Coach Zarda helped the Guardians realize their potential as a team. The team won its first District Championship and made SMA s first State appearance in Class 2 Missouri Volleyball. Coach Zarda was a member of the 4-time State Champion and 2010 National Champion Volleyball teams at St. James Academy. While at St. James she earned all-state honors, as well as Under Armour All-American. She went on to play at Nebraska and Kansas State. She has involved with coaching ever since she graduated college in WEIGHTS/SPEED AND AGILITY (COED) Boost Sports Performance and various SMA Coaches June 5-July 26 (T and Th) Grades am-12pm This camp will focus on the development of speed, agility, jumping and general core strength.
