1 We hope your have enjoyed your time with us so far this year. Thank you for your participation in our program. This Show Packet is packed with information regarding our show preparations and our shows! Please read it carefully and place dates on your calendar right away so you won t miss out on anything. Let us know of your questions and concerns. We have two shows in order to accommodate seating for everyone. Please check the show lists in this packet to find out which show or shows your child is in. Most of our students are in at least 2 dances in their show. Company dancers are in several numbers because they take between 6 10 hours of class per week. The week of the show we will have several important rehearsals at Memorial Auditorium. We welcome parents to observe all of our Memorial Auditorium rehearsals. Please refrain from talking during these rehearsals. If you have children with you they will need to remain in a seat and be very quiet. You are welcome to videotape or take pictures during our rehearsals. We will have Black Dog Productions at our shows so that you can purchase a show DVD if you would like. The form can be left at the front desk of the Y or given to the representative the day of the show. It is very important that students do not miss classes and extra rehearsals. You can practice at home too! Go to and Rehearsal Materials to find music for your dancer s class. The password is ydance. If you miss the photo date April 30, we will have a makeup date for individual photos on May 7. The photographer will be available between 1 4. We will hand out your photos during dress rehearsals. Tickets for our shows go on sale MAY 9th at 8:30 am at Tickets are $6. See below for more information. Please be sure you are caught up on your class fees and costume fees. All fees need to be paid before a student picks up their pictures or performs in one of our shows. If you do not receive our s, please send your child s name, parent name, class, mailing address, phone numbers and address to us right away at info@yacademyofdance.com. If you or someone you know in the community would like to volunteer to be a backstage mom, we need you! Please sign up on Miss Jordan s door upstairs by Studio 2. All backstage moms will need to attend the dress rehearsal and the show they are assigned. The first person signed up for each class will get a free show shirt.

All 3-4 year old classes will be in the 2 nd half of the show. Unless they will be sitting on your lap, don t forget to purchase a ticket for them! At Intermission, each student will need to report backstage to their assigned room.

3 Please read carefully. Our tickets tend to go quite quickly. Ticket sales will begin on Monday, May 9h at 8:30am. Ticket sales will be Internet ONLY until 1:00 pm. They will then be available at Memorial Auditorium box office or over the phone at Memorial Auditorium box office will be open until 4:30 pm. Tickets will be $6. There will be a 10 ticket limit per purchase. The ticket limit is to accommodate optimal seating for as many dance families as possible. Please only purchase tickets that will be used at the shows. Before tickets go on sale on Monday, May 9th please go to and familiarize yourself with the on-line ticket sales. If you purchase your tickets on line: -Remember all sales are final -You will have 4 minutes to purchase tickets and then they will be released for other buyers. (Tickets that were held and not available and then released will show up as available for purchase) -Make sure you are purchasing for the correct show time -Handicapped seating is available only at the box office or over the phone. The Y Academy of Dance provides some complimentary tickets to designated individuals who help make the academy a success and for show related technical reasons. All tickets sales are handled through the Memorial Auditorium and YMCA staff cannot assist you during your time of purchase. Most of our classes are in a class number plus a production number with other classes. Many of our dancers have already learned their production numbers and are working on them in class. We will notify you if any additional rehearsals are needed. Please make sure your dancer attends these extra rehearsals! 4 In order to have smoother dress rehearsals and better shows, we will have required work rehearsals the week of the show at Memorial Auditorium (503 North Pine Street). This is for students to get used to the stage and for the technical crews to WORK on lighting and sound for our show. ALL REGULAR CLASSES WILL BE CANCELLED SHOW WEEK UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED! Dancers will need to arrive at Memorial at the times below in costume. Hair and make-up does not need to be done for these rehearsals. Please check under your show time to find your required work rehearsal time. Company dancers will rehearse at Memorial on Tuesday, May 31st from 5:00-8:30 in costume. For students in the 1:00pm show: WORK REHEARSAL AT MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1ST 5:00-6:30 1st half of the 1pm show practices on the stage in line-up order 6:30-8:30 2nd half of the 1pm show practices on the stage in line-up order For students in the 6:30pm show: WORK REHEARSAL AT MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM THURSDAY, JUNE 2ND 5:00-6:30 1st half of the 6:30pm show practices on the stage in line-up order 6:30-8:30 2nd half of the 6:30pm show practices on the stage in line-up order Dress rehearsals are also required at the times below. You may not miss dress rehearsals. Please arrive on time with costume, hair and make-up ready. Each dress rehearsal will begin with a brief meeting in the auditorium. Signs will be posted telling you where to sit. Feel free to send something with your child for them to do during dress rehearsal. We will need all backstage parents to work their dress rehearsal in its entirety. For students in the 1:00pm show DRESS REHEARSAL AT MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM FRIDAY, JUNE 3RD 9:00 am-1:00 pm For students in the 6:30pm show DRESS REHEARSAL AT MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM FRIDAY, JUNE 3RD 2:00 pm-6:00 pm ***All rehearsals could end early or go later than planned. There is absolutely no way we can predict how things will go so please be flexible. Please bring food, etc for your child in case we are running behind. Food will only be allowed in the dressing rooms or lobby. No food or drink allowed in the auditorium. We will do our best to be as organized as possible but ask that you come with a great attitude and keep it throughout the week as we complete this great task of putting together wonderful shows.***

5 We need all of our classes to look alike and professional. Please follow these guidelines for pictures, dress rehearsals, and the show! If you have questions, ask your child s teacher. Dancers that do not follow our guidelines regarding full costume, shoes, tights, hair, etc. will not be permitted to perform. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you label ALL shoes, tights, costumes, dance bags, etc. prior to Memorial Auditorium rehearsals and shows. Please make sure undergarments do not show. If you need to wear a bra with your costume, it must not show! You may need a strapless or clear strapped bra. Generally speaking female dancers do not wear underwear with dance clothes or dance costumes. This prevents lines from showing. If your costumes shed glitter, feathers, etc. please bring a towel to sit on for Memorial Auditorium rehearsals. They like to keep their auditorium seats nice and clean and for a portion of the rehearsals all dancers will be sitting in auditorium seats. You will be getting tights with your costumes. Please wear those tights! You will need to replace them if they get runs or holes in them or if you loose them. If this happens, please make sure you get the same color you were given. Your child s teacher will instruct you as to what shoes to wear for pictures and for the show. Please follow guidelines below and do not add your own accessories, hairpieces or glitter. 3-4 & 5 year old classes: Please wear your hair in a ballet bun on top of the head. Hairpiece if given will go on child s right. 6 & up Combo, Xtreme Team, and Clogging: Please wear your hair in a pony tail, straight, with a bump in the front. This will be demonstrated at Production Rehearsal practice. Everyone will need to wear make-up including cranberry lipstick and blush. For our older classes, mascara as well. We suggest using white eye shadow right below the eyebrows to light and open up the eyes. If you have something delivered, it needs to be during Memorial Auditorium s office hours on Friday, June 3rd from 8:30am-4:30pm or on Saturday, June 4th after 12 pm. Tables will be setup in the side hallway for gifts.
