3 Registration Information 1) Online registration: Go to then click on recreation on the left panel, then click on the online registration box. After that follow the online instructions. 2) Walk-in: You may walk-in to register for any and all classes, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the New Castle Community Center, 423 W. Main Street. 3)Checks return for insufficient funds will be assessed a $20 processing fee. PARK RESVERATION AND SPECIAL EVENT Recreation 1.) Go to then click on recreation on the left panel, then click Are you planning a special event? Complete paperwork 2.) For more information and questions please call the NCR office at New Castle Community Center The New Castle Community Center is available for meetings, parties, dances, and all other social gatherings. The large room holds approximately 150 people and the small room holds 50 people. There is also a very large kitchen that can be used for cooking as well as simple food preparation. Costs range from: Small Room: $18-22hr Large Room: $30-32/hr Kitchen: $10/hr **Tables and chairs provided at no additional cost for an in house event **Need extra tables and chairs for an off-site events, RENT IT at the Community Center. 8ft rectangle Table..$5/table Chairs..$1/per chair Deposit.$ *****A CASH Deposit of $200 required for activities of 3 hours or less *****A CASH Deposit of $500 required for activities of more than 3 hours *****The contract must be signed and one form of payment must be collected (either the deposit or the fees) BEFORE a date can be reserved. 3
4 Youth Sports Youth Soccer The New Castle Recreation Department offers soccer for all ages. Soccer is offered twice a year and has two seasons; Fall and Spring. Micro soccer is open to kids ages 4-7. These ages are divided into two groups U6 (Preschool and Kindergarten) and U8 (1st and 2nd grade). This program plays against other teams from New Castle and Silt. Games are played on Friday nights. Practices are held on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. COST: $44 U10 Soccer is open to ages 8 to 10 (3rd grade & 4thgrade). This program emphasizes sound coaching for the purpose of improving individual soccer skills, teamwork, and equal play. At this level games are played against teams from other towns on the Western Slope. Most games are played on Saturdays. Practices are twice a week on either Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays. COST: Under 10 (8 & 9 yrs)= $52 Under 12 (10 &11 yrs)-u14(12 &13)= $110 Competitive Soccer : U12 & older (5th and older) and it is just that, competitive. In order to be on a competitive team players must attend tryouts held every Spring, early June, just prior to end of each school year. Winning is much more emphasized and coaches will determine starters and non-starters. Games are played all over the Western Slope with the possibility of playing on the Front Range. Much more of a commitment is required both from the players and the parents when involved with competitive soccer. Costs may vary for the competitive teams due to travel costs and tournaments. Wrestling Fall Wrestling: This program is an introduction to wrestling. There are no tournaments and everything is kept upbeat and fun. This is the perfect program to introduce the sport of wrestling to all youth ages 4 years old and up interested in checking it out. Ages: 4 years to 8th Grade Cost: $37 Days: TBD Time: TBD Date: November 1 December 10 (no wrestling the week of Thanksgiving) Location: New Castle Community Center Registration Opens: September Spring Wrestling: This program is approximately two months long with the option of competing in wrestling tournaments on Saturday. It is more competitive and requires greater dedication. There is an option for beginners or those not interested in competing to simply practice and not compete. Ages: 4 years to 8th Grade Cost: $37-noncompetive, $52 competitive (doesn t include a singlet) Days: TBD Dates: Feb 2011 May 2011 Location: New Castle Community Center Registration Opens: January 4,
5 Youth Basketball Youth Sports Tiny Tots Basketball: (Ages 4 & 5, Pre-K & Kindergarten) One month long program that practices twice a week. This program teaches the simple skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting. There will be no games played against other teams. Tiny Tots Basketball will be held at the Kathryn Senor Elementary. Practice will either be Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 5:45-6:45pm. Registration Opens: September Dates: October 25 November 20. This program ends with a skills challenge Saturday November 20.(*More details TBA about the skills challenge*) Cost: $44 Pee Wee Basketball: (Ages 6 & 7, 1st and 2nd grade) One month long program that practices twice a week. The fundamentals of the game are built upon from the previous levels with more emphasis on performance in game time. Girls Basketball: Registration opens: Sept 8th Dates: Practice starts the week of October 11th Games start October 24-December 4; Tournament week is December 7-11 Cost: $47 Boys Basketball: Registration opens: December 7th Dates: Practice starts January 10,2011 Games start January 29-March 5, Tournament week is March 7-12, 2011 Cost: $47 The Recreation Department is constantly looking for volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach basketball or any other sport please contact the New Castle Recreation Department at Most coaches only volunteer 3-5 hours a week. 5

7 Red Cross Babysitters Training Ages: 10 years & up Dates: November 12 & November 13 Days: Friday & Saturday Cost: $62.00 Time: 8am-2pm Location: New Castle Community Center Registration Deadline: November 3, 2010 Youth Sports & Activities This class is designed to teach children the basic care skills involved in babysitting. Emergency situations, accident prevention, selecting safe toys and games, tips on feeding babies, and interaction with parents and children of different ages are covered in this course. American Red Cross certificates will be issued upon successful completion of this course. Minimum: 6ppl Maximum: 12ppl Volleyball Ages: 8-11yr Grades: 3rd-6th Time: TBD Date: TBD Cost: $TBD Min/Max: 10/30 The New Castle Recreation Department will be offering volleyball in late January and early February. Volleyball will be is now offered for girls aged 7-11 and who are in 3rd to 6th grade. This is a recreational program to teach the fundamentals of volleyball. This program will run twice a week for 6 weeks. They will not play games against other teams. Hopefully, in the future will be able to offer a youth volleyball league. If you would like to help get this program off the ground please contact the NCR office at Spring Wrestling: This program is approximately two months long with the option of competing in wrestling tournaments on Saturday. 8 Middle School Dance Schedule: Youth Activities All dances are held at the New Castle Community Center. The dances are sponsored by different clubs and organizations around New Castle. The dances are always supervised and nobody is allowed to leave once they enter the dance. Dances are open to all middle school students in 5th- 8th grade. Here is the schedule of up coming dances at the New Castle Community Center. August 20th: New Castle Pride Soccer Team August 27th: Girls Scout Troop October 15th: Softball October 29th: Girl s Scout Troop December 10th: New Castle Recreation January 7th: Girls Scout Troop February 11th: Girl Scouts Troop April 8th: Girl Scout Troop Breakfast with Santa The New Castle Community Center has invited Santa Clause to join the local kids for breakfast. He will be reading a few stories as well a singing Christmas carols. Bring your Christmas wish list, and all good boys and girls will be receiving a small gift. We need volunteers to help do a crafts, help with breakfast and so much more. We are open to new ideas to help make this special event a great success! 8
9 Adult Sports ADULT 8V8 COED SOCCER Begins September 19th Games scheduled for Sunday afternoons and evenings Registration Fee: $300.00/TEAM Ages 18yrs and older **All players must sign a waiver & liability before playing** For further information contact: New Castle Recreation Department (970) bryan@newcastlecolorado.org. Missed playing Adult 8v8 Co-ed last Fall? Come play in the Spring! The New Castle Recreation Dept. now has Adult 8v8 Co-ed Soccer League! This is a recreational league. We have players from all ages and skill levels. Games are played every Sunday afternoons and evenings. 10 Adult & Youth Activities Grade 8 Referee Certification When: TBD Time: TBD Where: New Castle Community Center 423 W. Main St. New Castle, CO Why:: This is a 17 hour class to become a certified referee. This class will allow you to ref youth soccer games. Cost: $58, NCR will pay 50% ; IF you commit to refereeing 75% of the games. Age: 14 and UP This class is for all interested people; who would like to referee soccer this coming spring. This class is mandatory to ref soccer. Please feel free to bring water and snacks. There will be a lunch break on Saturday too. Grade 8 Re-certification New for 2011 the re-certification is NOW online; not class session. Visit coreferees.org and follow the instructions below. All refs must re-certificate every year and to eligible to ref this spring soccer season. Steps to Complete Online Recertification Training 1. From your RefLink Main Menu page 2. Click on the TRAINING AND TESTING CENTER button 3. Select the Online Training Module you wish to complete, and press the Open This Module button. 4. Upon completion of the module you will be required to take and pass the appropriate recertification exam for your grade level. Once you pass this exam, you will receive the credit necessary to unlock your Registration Form and you may proceed to Re Register. Steps to Re Register for From your RefLink Main Menu page 2. Click on the MY REGISTRATION button. 3. Review and update any information on the Registration page that needs to be updated. 4. Find and click on the RE REGISTER NOW button. NOTE: If you have not met the requirements to reregister (ie: have not completed the necessary recertification training), you will see a red box describing the steps you need to take before the button will become available to you. 5. On the next page that opens after clicking the button, review all information on the page, select a payment method, and follow the on screen instructions to submit your registration. 11 Community VOLUNTEERS Looking to get involved in your child activities...we need volunteers to help coach soccer, basketball, volleyball and wrestling. Don t want to coach but still want to get involved we could use you! Please call the office at Referees, Officials, and Umpires Needed New Castle Recreation is looking for refs, officials, and umpires for the upcoming sports seasons. We need refs for basketball, soccer, and baseball umpires in the spring. If you are interested in becoming a ref please call the NCR office at All officials, refs, and umpires must fill out a Town of New Castle Employment Application. Got a program idea; you d like to see the Rec. Department offer? We would love to hear from you. Got a program idea; you d like to teach with the Rec Department? We would love to hear from you and help us expand our recreational opportunities. The Recreation Department is constantly looking to expand and develop new programs and special interest classes and we can t do it with YOU! If you would like to see a new program offered, have suggestions on improving an existing one, or have a hobby, special talent or skill you would like to share with others by teaching a special class, seminar, or workshop, please give us a call. 11
